  1. *sigh* Get Total Recorder or Audacity. Connect Hi-MD to system. Fire up SonicStage. Set TR or Audacity to record the audio stream from software. Hit play on SS. There you go. Digital Recording, real time, no loss. ZOMG.

    Oh, The Irony.

True SP will always have a spot in my heart. Regardless if I'm using Hi-MD, I end up recording in true SP, through the optical input, even tracks I uploaded earlier to my CPU using the NHF 800. I could use Hi-SP, but I want to use my discs on my JVC unit with it's teeth-rattling bass settings. Besides, I kinda "need" those extra 36 Kbps that SP has VS Hi-SP. It sounds great, it doesn't eat battery as fast as PCM, and I can fit 80 mins of it on a regular MD. I love it. Am I crazy, or do I just love old style MD too much?
  3. If you can use the player as a data drive, just drop all your music into it as data, and upload it to your PC. The "autorize" option only works for music you have bought from Connect, IIRC. The best option though, seems to be importing the original MP3 to your work PC.
  4. Use 44K at 16 bit, stereo. That is what both MD and CD use. That way you can burn it to CD later on without having to deal with up or down-sampling.
  5. May I suggest you upload them as they are, convert to wav, and then split using your favorite audio editor? It seems to be the only alternative right now.
  6. Just hope that if we see an AAC compatible Hi-MD soon, that Sony won't cripple the audio output the way they did with MP3. So, true SP on NetMD and Hi-MD could have been done all right, it's just that Sony didn't allow it, correct? (DRAT). But yeah, we got Hi-SP and IMHO it sounds just fine and is fast enough for me when transferring from my system.
  7. I don't understand how Hi-MD can DRM huge wav files, but not SP at 292. *shrugs*
  8. Volta, sorry to sound like an Uber-Nerd but regarding your post about putting the tuner remote in another unit, it won't even work. The remotes have two raised "notches" that prevent them from even going into another unit's remote jack. And believe me, I have tried.
  9. Yes, but you can delete the wav and keep the original MP3 after you transfer them to MD. And 80 mins of wav do not take 2.5 GB. More like 700 MB.
  10. Sounds to me like DRM is enabled on WMP. Try unchecking that.
  11. I wonder if there were ever sweet, salty, and bitter-tasting prehistoric reptiles on the face of the Earth.
  12. Well, when I said ballistic I meant it as in starting a chain of murders of them Intel and MS uber-nerds that designed such restrictive method. Kidding. I'd never harm another person like that. Now if you excuse me, it's time for my electroshock therapy. KKZZZAAAAT!
  13. I will not die so as not to live. I will not yield if my wish is not fulfilled. I shall die with no regrets. -Shinra, from Ikaruga.
  14. I'll go ballistic if their Hardware DRM prevents me from copying my legally-ripped music from my desktop to my brother's laptop.
  15. No. Use Music Match, Jet Audio or Winamp to convert them to Wav or Higher bitrate MP3 (64+). Mind you, this will not improve the audio quality, but will make it compatible.
  16. Sounds more like a bad writing block to me. Can you record via the analog or digital input? If not, then the recording block is busted.
  17. Judging by Ken Kutaragi's arrogance when asked WTF was the deal with the defective square button on the PSP, I guess we can imagine what Sony will say. ("This is the design we came up with, no one questions the placement of a door in a house, it's a problem all right, but this is something the gamers and developers will have to live with." Which is corporate talk for "Up yours, suckers.")
  18. I don't mind DRM when its fair. If you lose your PC to a crash, I believe Itunes will allow you to recover your purchased files. And with unlimited burning, you might have a few backups previously made from your library. Sony, and Walmart on the other hand...
  19. Ha, ha, ha. I thought I was the only one promoting the virtues of that program, Kurisu. Seriously, folks. Hi-MDRenderer is to Hi-MD what Peanut butter is to chocolate, root beer to vanilla ice cream, and cheese to pizza. Try it. And then make a donation for poor old Marc. I heard he had to code the latest version while walking barefoot on 3 feet of snow.
  20. Well, I'm trying to lose the spare tire I'm growing, and there are no KK close to me, so I guess I won't be there. Sowwy.
  21. And once Joe and Jane consumer realize how much of a pain in the behind all that crud is, they'll give MS the finger and find a better solution offered by someone else. Don't think it's possible? Two words for you, my friend: Fire Fox.
  22. Just compress your files to flac, and drag and drop them to MD as data drive, not with SonicStage. Lock your discs in a safe place with nice temperature, and check them regularly. That should keep them safe for as long as the disc can hold its physical integrity.
  23. I haven't gotten a fatal error. Just some non-uploadable tracks due to disc surface defects, but I still have to get SS to trash an upload for me.
