  1. That's pretty slick. Import that information into a MySQL DB and you've just created a simple cataloging program. Get some barcodes and you've got yourself a media library... Neat.
  2. Along the bottom bar of IPS there are a few icons showing number of queries, page render time and gzip enabled/disabled. Ever think of enabling it? It should cut down on bandwidth consumption for any compressible data... I don't know if it will crush the current server hardware or not though
  3. Unfortunately the SACD of Synchronicity is stereo only. It just didn't sound different compared to the original CD. It actually made me shy away from buying any other SACD's for a while because I expected about the same from others. I've since picked up Brubeck's Time Out, Alice in Chains Greatest Hits, Journey's Greatest Hits and Dark Side and they're all markedly improved over their respective CD's. Some improvements are more subtle than others, but it's still there. Heavily recording/remastering dependent it seems.
  4. Amen to that. When this phone dies I don't plan on getting another.
  5. Haven't been conveniently ripped YET. DVD-A will inevitably be cracked. And what's the point of ripping SACD if you're only going to convert it to PCM. When portables can actually playback 96kHz/24bit or DSD recordings then this becomes an issue. Until then it doesn't really matter unless you have all the equipment in your PC's playback train to support higher fidelity ripped recordings. DVD-A and SACD are still in component land mostly, just like CD was in the beginning.
  6. It's..... Good It was the second SACD I bought and a welcome improvement over the Police Synchronicity SACD I had which was effectively the CD version on a new format... Once I get some quarter inch to XLR adapters I can record it. Only at 48kHz though... Old Antex Studio cards...
  7. My Denon can do this. There's an option on the digital out to either output normally or downmix to stereo PCM. Works with a DTS version of Sting's Brand New Day I have. Leave it on normal and the AVR sees a DTS stream. Set the Denon to out PCM and the AVR sees a regular stereo PCM stream. I don't remember if my Harman DVD player had an option like this. Maybe it's a universal player thing.
  8. Awesome my old Samsung SCH-3500 has one of the lower W/kg ratings there. No tumors for me!
  9. Ha! Ditto on all counts. I've erased so many channels from my TV I think I'm down to maybe 15. Started at 90+ "reality tv" is a plague.
  10. About a year and a half or so here. I didn't include any equipment other than the latest incarnation of my stereo/home theater setup. I'm not even done yet. I'm contemplating new Infinity Beta 40's to replace my Primus 250's in the front. Move the Primus set to the rear and free up a pair of bookshelf JBL's. $800 more. Sound is worse than crack I swear.
  11. The automatic capitalization thingy screws up acronyms and second word capitalization quite a bit in topic titles. See ^^^^^
  12. How much of this is the receiver/hi-fi/player combination you're using on your component stereo vs the recording itself? Some equipment provides a wider/deeper sound than others.
  13. heh. I just rebought Tranceport and A Voyage Into Trance to replace missing/scratched copies. Both good. His Global Underground - Oslo set it good too.
  14. I'd expect my HK AVR to last at least 10 years for the amount I paid. Same for the Denon universal player. I have a Pioneer 100W stereo receiver that my dad bought for me 10 years ago that still works. it only cost about $150 new. He's got an old school Onkyo 80 watt high current stereo receiver that's almost 30 years old now. Still runs like a champ. Puts alot of newer stereos to shame too.
  15. This is what baffles me about MP3 support on any Sony gear. Aside from the convenience of no conversion uploads what's the point. Bit for bit ATRAC beats MP3, to my ear at least, even using a good MP3 encoder like lame.
  16. What we need to do is get the installer for the 18080 version off that asia-pac NH1 CD and setup a torrent or something. I can even host it for a while if needbe until a permanent link is found.
  17. Oh that's so messed up on so many levels... I like it

Yep. Audio transferred via SonicStage or recorded on a Hi-MD unit has DRM attached to it. Data copied to the disc through Explorer or whatever do not have DRM associated with them.
