I was looking at that when you mentioned it. How does it handle files with DRM?
-
Odd problem not to have your homepage working...
-
What do you trade, or is the idea to trade music/recordings?
-
No idea you could do that. How do you find those settings?
-
Never done a trade but I've a bunch of MD's here not doing anything.
-
I see them going for ok prices in my local 2nd hand paper.
-
I never knew there was a double deck!
-
How did you find that out?
-
The moving of some playback functions to the remote only is the other IMO.
-
Thats not free though is it? Why do you like it?
-
Unfortunately yes. Its a lot longer for those of us with older HiMD units.
-
I'm only guessing but its only one person and they only work part-time.
-
I'm a believer that the the more often feature is used the bigger button it should have. Play/pause/stop etc. Why theres a gigantic eject button I have no idea.
-
Personally I think the advantages of USB uploads of recordings are so worth the extra is costs for a HiMD. Doing it realtime with the pre HiMD units was such a PITA IMO

SonicStage 4.3 Arrives, Features Vista Compatibility

I've a mint Quadra 800 here running System 7.5.5. It would solve that problem nicely for you. -
I'd go with used HiMD instead of the older MD units. Unless you've absolutely no money. Just make sure it has a line in AND Mic in. In order of increasing cost... NH700 NH800 NH900 NH1 RH910 RH10 RH1 Search for these 2nd hand. You'll find some details here... http://www.minidisc.org/equipment_browser.html Keep an eye on.. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showforum=36

Sorry bit distracted this morning...

What OS are you using ^M0rk^? BTW what rule did he break?
-
I see you are on Sp4 and not SP6a? Maybe that would fix it for you. Your problems are still install/comfiguartion problems not application bugs though. Thats how I see it. SS always did and still does, install a lot of crub through.

The problem is your original files are in SP which is a lossy compression. If you upload it to PCM thats a exact copy of your SP file. But it doesn't change the fact that its a perfect copy of lossy compressed audio data. Theres no way to recover the data that was removed when the audio was compressed with SP originally. From wiki... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcoding "Compression artifacts are cumulative, therefore transcoding between lossy codecs causes a progressive loss of quality with each successive generation". What you really want is to record in PCM. Then you can encoded anything you want from that. But you need to record in PCM to begin with. That said, sometimes transcoding isn't always obvious to our imperfect ears, and you might be happy with the quality you get from SP>PCM>HiSP. If you are not then just use PCM>PCM. Thats the same effectively as SP>SP just much bigger filesizes. ATRAC lossless might be useful if its fixed. I dunno if it is or not.

I'm not getting you. If you have it in SP. Then make a lesser copy in HiSP. Why would you want to make a 3rd copy in SP which is worse than what you already have?
-
I hadn't seen that thread. I installed 4.3 on XP Pro SP1 and its fixed the problems I had with a bad install. The first bad install I've every had with SS I might add. My other machines all have 4.2. I think a lot of the problems I read about with 4.3 are people with other problems, that 4.3 isn't fixing for them. Or that a reinstall of SonicStage has caused, as can happen with any version of 4.3. I don't think they are bugs specifically with 4.3. That just my opinion though.

I'd say it would be a grain of sand on a beach. Why would you want to convert SP>HiSP>SP?
-
I just use rechargables. Means you can always use the unit instead of having it tied up charging the battery. The charger from my old MD G750 works on my NH700. But I never use it. I should have added a third option, "I want both"

I don't have a RH1 but does this mean you can choose the HiMD bitrate you want to upload the SP to?
