Thanks. I've never tried Sharp DR7; but I read its a very good piece of machine plus you can go no wrong with the AUVI engine. As for choosing recording purposes, I would really advise you to pick up a NH1 even though you do not require Hi-MD format at the moment. The reason being: the NH1 being part of the 1st generation provides recordings in existing SP, LP2/4 and Hi-MD modes. So, essentially, all your bases are covered so to speak. That's correct, no digital output for Hi-MD units; only line out via headphone out. I can't really compare both units but in terms of sound engine, the HD Amp employed by the NH1 definitely gives extra warmth over N910's Amp. Using 0.6 seconds as a benchmark, I would say the NH1 is somewhat slower; just slightly over a second by a fraction or so. But to be fair, for your basic playback needs, this is not significant. I've answered a similar query of yours in this thread. But to expand on joystick operation, I would say that it is strategically placed and you just need to get attuned mentally to how it works - as in direction to navigate between tracks. I would also add the learning curve being fairly minimal for your intended use. I would say the NH1's joystick controller if you will, has a sturdier feel. I don't have the Sharp DR7 to give a fair impression. Officially, the NH1 is reported to weigh about 107g whereas the N910 is about 93g. As for thickness, the N910 is about 1mm thicker than the NH1. In my opinion, both units looks almost identical in terms of size; the N910 being more conservative in design with subtle minimalist lines whereas the NH1 being more industrial but very sleek and elegant. And not to forget, the brushed magnesium of the NH1 truly sets it apart from most recorders of its time. The NH1's lithium ion rechargeable battery is indeed significantly more expensive than the regular NiMH format; and it's about $40 to $60 depending where you are located. If your budget does not allow additional investment on LIP-4WM batteries, you may want to consider other Hi-MD units such as the NH900 or the RH10.

Welcome to ALC! Since you have encoded your music in LAME 192kbps VBR, I would suggest that you keep the current settings unless you truly need gapless or your device does not support it. Personally, I prefer gapless playback at ATRAC3plus 256kbps; and obviously, use the original source if you ever need to encode to ATRAC3plus.

You should attempt to "remove selected" instead "uninstall" any remnants of OpenMG Secure Module in the "Software" and "Uninstall Menu" tab of RegCleaner. Please try and install the attached OpenMG Secure Module ver. 4.2. Report back if the problem still persists. Good luck. --> [attachmentid=973]

Welcome to ALC! You will need to rename the icon filename and label tag to the color/type of device of your choice before you drop it into your device. For example, using the autorun.inf file included for the HD3 icon: [autorun] icon=hd3xx.ico --> replace the suffix xx.ico with hd3black2.ico if you choose the second version of the black HD3 icon label=Network Walkman NW-HD3 --> rename to whatever you desire or leave it as default

The MCMD-R1 will work just fine with the NH900. The MCMD-R1 is a memory card reader dedicated to any Hi-MD Walkman with USB jack.

To be fair, you can't really compare the NH1 with the E10 - one being a first generation Hi-MD recorder and the other being a strictly MDLP player. If you had a typo in your query and meant the EH1 instead (since this is a thread dedicated to the EH1), please review post #6 and #10 of this thread – I have included comments pertaining to size and sound engine of the EH1 and E10. Construction material: both units including the EH1 feature identical brushed magnesium shell with the NH1 having a superior build for obvious reason. Nonetheless, they are both very elegant and refined. Resistance to dents and scratches: I have to say they are not as resistant if you compared it to a titanium shell. But then accidents are relative to how you employ your units. I am proud to say that none of my units have suffered any dents or scratches and I hope to keep it that way. Operations without a remote: I would say both units including the EH1 are fairly efficient without its supplemental remote for *basic playback needs. The operation buttons are strategically placed and you just need to get attuned mentally to where it’s placed. I would say the learning curve being fairly minimal for your intended use. *strictly for basic playback use; a remote is required if you intend to adjust EQ or other functions
