  1. I agree, must be a faulty batch out there. The NW-S706F is my most used player at the moment, getting about 2-3 hours play per day and never had a problem with it.
  2. Give the stock phones a blast first, there supposed to be quite good.
  3. The MDR-EX71SLA's also come with a custom case with various custom skins.
  4. I reckon so, didn't like to say at first but I'll have to agree with Ascariss.
  5. If you hadn't tried it on another pc I would have recommended re-installing the latest version of Sonicstage, but personally I think the player is faulty. You could try re-installing Sonicstage to make sure all the drivers etc. are installed correctly and give it a go.

    NW-S70x album art

    706=4gb; 705=2gb and 704=1gb. no other difference.
  7. For your own well being I don't think you need it any louder. I also listen to dance/house/techno and I find it loud enough. I live in Europe and my one is supposedly capped and it is as loud as my units which have had the cap removed. If you want it any louder maybe you should consider a headphone amp.
  8. Hi and welcome to Atrac Life. Not a chance in hell of hacking the NW-S7xx range, as with all Sony flash based players. You must have severe hearing problems if you feel the need to hack one of these.
  9. I don't know if you saw the links Shinji Ikeda kindly provided in his original post? I have quoted his post with the links. Hope it helps. Also it has been reviewed in the blog. You can find it if you go back a few pages.
  10. Hi GQ Smooth, no remote socket on this model I'm afraid. Probably wouldn't need one as the unit is quite small and it would be a shame to hide that great colour screen away. Let us know what you think of it when you get it.

    Equalizer in NW-S706

I think you will find the sound quality on the NW-S706F/B far superior to that of the PSP.

    NW-S70x album art

Hi, welcome to Atrac Life. I find it simple enough to navigate, although I wouldn't want to navigate any more than the 4gb my NW-S706F has. The only two things that annoy me about this player is the "PLAY MODE/SOUND" button on the back and the rubber seals on the supplied iem's coming off their rims. Apart from that it's great!

    NEW hdd dap?

Hi and welcome to Atrac Life I don't think we will be seeing any more hdd players from Sony. I would imagine they are concentrating there efforts on flashed based players from now on. We will probably see larger capacity flash players from Sony as time goes by.
  14. The in-car unit seems to be what you are looking for. Looks like it's compatable with all Sony mp3 players and also supports ID3 tagging, although I would contact them first to find out. BIGHMW and MDX-400 should be able to give you advice on the Connects2 equipment.
  15. Hi & welcome to Atrac Life. Have you tried the 3 different sized tips that come with the phones? You may not be getting a proper seal on one ear. You could try resetting the unit by using a pin or paper clip to press the Reset button on the back of the unit.
  16. Hi & welcome to Atraclife. Look here!
  17. Hi BIGHMW The only difference between these iem's is that the MDR-NC22's have the built in noise canceling box on the cord while the MDR-NC022's has it built in to the NW-S7xx player instead. The MDR-NC022's can not be used with any other player as on the ear phone jack there is a small connector attached which will only fit the socket on the NW-S7xx players. Apart from the above they are exactly the same.

    headphones.

I don't think you need to clean your headphone plug unless it gets very dirty.
  19. Thanks for this well written and informative review BIGHMW. Good to see there is a clip for the battery box, as I thought that would be a little heavy on the left ear.

    Sound volume restriction

You won't be dissapointed with the NW-S7xx range, the sound quality and volume level is superb.

    Sound volume restriction

The volume can be an issue if you are listening to an old recording. I found this with my old NW-E407 when I ripped some older cd's that were recorded in the eighties. It wasn't an issue when listening to the same music files on my HD5 and A1200 as I had removed the volume cap. It's nice to have a little more power to play with when you really need it. With the NW-S706F I usually have it on between 16 and 20, and rarely go beyond 20.

    Sound volume restriction

I don't think you will have a problem woth the volume on the NW-S706F as you would have with the earlier flash players. My NW-S706F is a hell of a lot louder than both my HD5 and A1200, and both have had the volume cap removed.
  23. Happy Birthday Stuge!!!! Have a good one mate.
  24. Can't say I've noticed any hiss myself. If any, it's only at extremely low volumes.
  25. Thanks grenert. Probably just me being paranoid, just wanted to make sure. Yes apart from the difference in mA both are exactly the same.
