  1. I mulled around quite a few years about installing and running a dual-boot system. I tried a few distros and dual booted a few of them but never really on a permanent basis. When I received my laptop that changed things. I am in the process of moving everything XP related from my desktop to my laptop and kicking windows off my desktop. That way if I ever need windows I still have my laptop. Maybe I can kick the habbit for good but I know my wife can't. That is what is making this whole transition go so slow. She still needs time to get used to the laptop before I completely remove windows from my desktop.
  2. Posting this kind of late since I got this about two weeks ago. Some old school MD love, MZ-EP11.
  3. The forum was hacked and email addresses stolen some time ago. I am pretty sure the admin (Chris) would not purposely sell our addresses.
  4. No one interested? Price drop to $85. If it does not sell in a few days I will just keep it.
  5. When are you defragmentations scheduled to be performed? I see that you have pdsched.exe running. I think that is a defragmentation utility. You are also running snag-it. I personally disable it from running on my work system just because it causes a lot of strange errors. I only run it when I need it then kill it. If tschelp.exe does not go away when you stop snag-it, stop it also. It is part of snag-it. Other than that the processes look pretty clean. I forgot, you are logging in as administrator. That is a security no-no. Just thought I would mention it. Oh, yeah, one more edit. Just because you are not running the reg cleaner it can change registry settings that affect Sonic Stage when you do use it.
  6. To be honest. If you are not that versed in registry editing you should really leave that registry mechanic alone.
  7. kill any active registry mechanic processes.
  8. ...or you can go direct to the company that makes them for Creative, Fuji. Fuji E3220's are even less than the Creative's.
  9. What I do is export the whole thing as wav (yes, one big wav file) and then add my track marks with the MD unit. Works like a charm.
  10. ^^Yup, that is what I remember when I had the 600D
  11. I have pretty much ruled out PCLinuxOS. Fedora is next to test but there is no official live CD for it. Soooo, I would have to install it. That means I have a lot of backing up to do. I guess it does not matter since I am determined to leave the M$ world behind, on my personal rig anyway. I am actually doing some house cleaning and getting rid of files I do not need but it is taking longer than I thought it would. Once that is done, Fedora gets installed. If I dont like it, Ubuntu it is.
  12. It is usually the other way around. High ISO's are noisier. Heat can also make an image nosier. If you are using the LCD screen to frame your pics switch to the viewfinder. The LCD actually heats up the back of your CMOS/CCD sensor and causes noise to appear in your pictures. It can also happen if your camera is just hot in general.
  13. If you look at the leaves on the trees you can see purple fringing. That is called chromatic abberation. SP? That is normal in a lot of cameras. Especially zoom cameras. The ones with better optics will have less of it.
  14. Either the lens is dirty/scratched or it is just the nature of the optics on your camera.
  15. I still want to check out Fedora and PCLinuxOS before I make a final decision. I must say that I was impressed with Ubuntu.
  16. loaded the Ubuntu 6.06 Live CD to take a gander at it. I am almost on the verge of making my final decision as to which distro will live permanantly on my rig.
  17. Is that at max zoom or wide angle? EDIT: Never mind. I just read a review of your camera and it appears that what you see is normal for the optics of your camera.
  18. Linksys wireless router, Canon A410 compact camera and an MZ-E11.
  19. Laptop backpack and laptop. Well the laptop was a gift.
  20. I use my Aiwa and Panasonic units a lot more. This is a blue MZ-R900 in near mint condition. There are some small hairline scratches on the LCD but you have to really look for them to notice them. Other than that the unit is flawless. It was my main portable recording rig (used to record from the line-out of a mixer and optical out of CD player) until I replaced it with my MZ-NHF800 Hi-MD unit. $90 $85 USD shipped within the continental US. Included: - MZ-R900 in near mint condition. - Instruction manual - Stock foldable headphones - Original Japanese AC adapter (100V AC input - I have tried it on US voltage and it works but am not comfortable using it for extended periods of time) - AA battery attachment - 1 gumstick rechargable (It is getting old and may not keep a charge like it used to. I would recommend getting a new one.) - Felt pouch - RM-MC11EL remote (has some scratches on the screen but nothing major) - Xitel USB MDPort (digital optical out) - Optical cable - USB cable - Original box and misc. paperwork. (The box is not in the best of shape) PM me if interested.
  21. You obviously have not read the terms of service in the installation: I brought this up a while back. Basically it gives Sony the license to do whatever they want to the software installed on your computer. Nobody seemed to care at the time.
  22. Hey, that is actually kind of nice. I may have to check it out.
  23. Getting back on topic... I have the X5L and it can record from a line in up to 320kbps. It is only when you record from the internal mic that you are limited in the bitrates. You should be able to record in realtime from a Hi-MD unit to the X5L but I have not tried it.
