For me, using 64 kbps is no quality at all (unless you like to listen to heavy metal or things like that . Then 48 is more than enough). If you want to listen to your music as it should be, certainly, the best is no compression at all. As I know this is something impossible if you want to have a certain amount of cd's in it, I should use 256 kbps. I repeat, the main feature of MD for me is the SOUND QUALITY above the capacity. I guess sony will already be working on MD with more capacity of 1GB; and if not, they should be. Regards

So, what have I been recording all these years with my MDS-JE500?. I guess SP, don't you?. All this time thinking I was listening to my md recordings on my MZ-E20 without compression. IGNORANCE IS BLISS . I need a lot to learn.

Thanks Raintheory. You've cleared it up very well. I was confusing PCM with SP. Well, I must admit that my old MZ-E20 is only a player. I record my minidiscs on a MDS-JE500. What a pity to know I can only record a cd and a half with no compression . I love maximum quality and thought the hi-md would provide me that and more upload capacity. Does playing on SP provide good quality?. How much compression does SP have?. Sorry to bother you with so many questions, but I was thinking of buying a RH-1 and now I'm a bit disappointed (due to my ignorance, of course) Regards

Obviously I was wrong Please, be so kind to clear up one thing to me. If I want to upload music to a hi-md, how many albums more or less can I upload with no compression?. If I can record 80 or 74 minutes in my old MZ-E20, I guess I will be able to upload more on a hi-md, or not?. Maybe I'm confusing RECORD with UPLOAD. I have the CX-300, RUBBISH absolutely. Don't buy them cause they are very very bad. Nothing better than the PX-100 by far. regards

I have never seen so much expectation for a minidisc model like the one with the rh-1. We are all looking forward the rh-1 to being on sale in our respective countries.

I would like to know if the rh-1 has the possibility of playing songs shuffled "only once every song". I love to play my music randomly and hate a song to be repeated when I have just listened to it hardly five minutes ago. My old MZ-E20 doesn't have this possibility and want to know if the new ones, even the rh-1 can play this way. I mean without having to use the programming function regards

Please, if you can, try using a pair of SENNHEISER PX-100. I think these headphones are the best on the market for this price. I got AKG K26 P and KOSS SC55 and the px-100 are the best of all. regards

The only thing against I see is the warranty. Maybe too risky. regards

I have an old MZ-E20 and my intention is buying a RH-1. Has anybody ever had one like mine?. Has minidisc quality sound highly improved since this MZ-E20 was released?. To cut short, is the change worth doing? thanks so much
