  1. Sorry completely forgot about this thread, indeed, it does work for me as well. CP works fine though for me, so I can cope with that.
  2. Will ship to United States, Canada. though. If people in the US want this that badly, why don't they come up to can pick them up.
  3. Razorback, I found one more site you could use to buy the A3000, the price is cheaper than AdvancedMP3Players.com, around 20 pounds cheaper and they do ship internationally. http://www.stoneaudio.co.uk/default.asp?re...sp?product=1647 http://www.stoneaudio.co.uk/ One thing though, the AC cable's plug (from theUK) is well different than mainland europe I am assuming? correct? Since I believe japan has similar plus to north america, and most if not all of continental europe has the 2 round plugs. Good thing about the AC adapter is its worldwide, 100-240V, and 50-60Hz, so you can use it anywhere, which is a good thing since I travel, and I am sure the costs are cheaper to make a worldwide unit than 3 ind ones for Japan, NA and europe. You could always charge it via the USB, but full charge takes 7 hours. edit, here is the A1000: http://www.stoneaudio.co.uk/stoneaudio/pro...sp?product=1646 the a3000 is available rather readily, while the A1000 seems to have some backlog, This item is usually dispatched within28 Days
  4. no duplicate files are needed for playlists you make them in CP and transfer them over I guess, haven't tried yet. When you're playing a song and want to go to the main menu, takes about 1-2 seconds. to acess the groups, genres, star rating, etc, there is a lag, about 1 or 2 seconds, but then navigating through the albums, artists, is with no lag.
  5. Update, the battery is lasting a bit longer now, maybe and hour and a bit longer than before. As well, I was able to initialize the HDD, erasing everything, and then importing with no problems 444 songs onto the player, roughly 5 gigs or so. Didn't take long, uhm around 20 min or so, while i was doing other things. I didn't select all the songs and transfer though, it would have been faster that way, but I have more than 6 gigs in my library in CP. Note, I don't think the artist link works with mp3s, atrac is most likely needed. As well will test playlists tomorrow.
  6. Have you sent it already? if not could you take a picture of the problem for future reference for other users.
  7. The update seems to be region specific, since the canadian version CP will not upgrade to this build.
  8. Here are some images and comparisons as promised. http://premium1.uploadit.org/ascariss//A1000_1.jpg http://premium1.uploadit.org/ascariss//A1000_2.jpg http://premium1.uploadit.org/ascariss//A1000_3.jpg http://premium1.uploadit.org/ascariss//A1000_4.jpg Large files, 1600 in size. That's a canadian quarter for our non canadian members lol.
  9. Anyone pick up one of these yet, or see one at a store, if it is sold even at the sony store, since it mentioned sony style.
  10. The new players will work just fine with sonicstage, the HDD based ones will have limitations with some functions but I do believe that the A600 will work fine with SS but these features migth not work: - new "Intelligent shuffle" feature: 1) Most frequently listened tunes shuffle mode 2) Time/Date based shuffle mode 3) Artist link shuffle mode and 4) Sports shuffle mode. Since I do believe they are dependent on the new CP software.
  11. Sadly in real life, things are different. I doubt many people here will listen to mp3s at 128 unless the like the underwaterish sound. So I will assume most people will go with 192 or higher. I listen to 192, 200vbr, some 320s, so a mix of most over 192. I can safely tell you that so far I have gotten on average these last 3 days for the A1000, 4-5 hours. Granted the battery doesn't die, but it does get to 1/4 full, but even I hit 1/4 full, I was still able to listen for a good 2 hours and 1/4 still remained. My guess is that 8-10 hours with 15sec, is a good estimate for 192 kbps. I will do a test this weekend to try to confirm this.
  12. I was going to return it, but I still don't know if the A3000 has arrived. I will use the smaller device more for exercise since it is ligther than the larger A3000.
  13. Hmm, interesting enough when I was first installing the CP off the CD, once the install finishes, reboot, etc, a page pops up with 3 links initially. Europe Canada Japan this is for updates for firmware and CP Now when I went to install it, it had 4 options: Europe Oceania Canada Japan So I am sure they are coming on the 2nd.
  14. I seriously have a love and hate relationship with this software. After reorganizing and adding albums and genres to all my files, took almost 3 hours or so, I decided to delete the library and re import. Tough luck, CP doesn't like that. So after count, 4 reinstalls and removals, I have finally gotten it to the point where I am able to import the mp3 files in. I am doing it a few files at a time, because upsetting CP isn't a good idea. I have no idea why it is working now and it didn't before. it crashes on me when I choose to import a lot of files at once, so I have to go slowly sadly, but it works and I am happy for now. Hope Sony gets that update out soon.
  15. Hmm anyone know how hard it would be to write a program to just transfer music across, ie really simple with just a directory of hte mp3s and drag and drop? Xispe?
  16. Sadly Sony is a bit paranoid about piracy so the drag and drop issue from windows explorer could be the reason why it isn't there. I would also like to see it implemented but I doubt they will. Sure the CP software will cost Sony plenty of sales, but once the update comes, the good one, hopefully all will be well. The thing with Sony and connect, and their DAPs, there was an article from the summer or so referring to sony and its future plans, and also how the company came to be where it is. Here is the thread: http://www.atraclife.com/index.php?showtopic=467 As for the colour LCD and browsing the albums, perhaps a nice feature, but for some odd reason, I use winamp, and I don't browse my songs by album art on the PC so I have no real need to do it on a DAP. I have nothing against people with ipods, it's just the people who think the ipod is superior to all other DAPs.
  17. Sony Canada changed the name back to Walkman, no more Aura in Canada. Edit.... Huh, while checking the Sony Style website for info whether the Silver A3000 is shipping still on the 15th, by golly what happens? It's available and on sale already. What happened to Dec 15th??? Looks like I will be going down to the Sony Store tomorrow and picking it up hopefully. Wow such a nice surprise from Sony.
  18. Well the RM-MC33EL works BUT more or less it is useless. It doesn't display the song name, nor album, nothing, only time elapsed and track #. I believe repeat, shuffle and the folder buttons do work as well, skipping 10 songs ahead or backwards. I was initially planning on using the remote, but sadly gave up. lol The player looks too good to be hidden away in my bag.
  19. I only use v2 since there seems to be less of a limit on the length of names.
  20. haven't used atrac files on it, don't really want to take the time to convert them, unless there is a program other than CP and SS that will convert mp3s into atrac files, I will gladly look into it. All the play modes work with mp3s, as do the shuffles, eq as well, and everything else on it. I am in the process of deleting my CP library and only importing songs with rewritten genre and album info and then retransferring them to my A1000. Possibly this will solve the artist link problem So far battery life is nowhere near 10 hours, well with the music selection I am listening to. I will do a battery test on saturday with a fully charged unit and let it keep playing and see how long it goes before it stops. After listening to it for 2 hours this morning, then another 1 hour between class, one full hour in class, at low volume mind you, the battery has dropped from half full to only 1/4. Leaves me kind of worried for my journey back home, will the player last. (do note, bulk of mp3s are 192, perhaps 4% are 160ish vbr, others are 200vbr and then the rest is around 256-320 mp3, although 70% is in 192mp3) So if anyone knows of any other program that will convert mp3s to atrac other than CP or SS, please do let me know, since I am curious to how much longer the battery will last with atrac files vs mp3s.
  21. All Mp3 in my case, SS3.3 crapped out on me for some reason, keeps crashing whenever I try to import more than 5 files at a time, and I am in no hurry to import over 2000 files into SS and convert them to atrac. lol
  22. From my experience all the functions work with Mp3s, but I don't use anything but shuffle all for my player, seeing as I am too busy these days to take advantage of the other intelligent options. Perhaps during my break from school I will.
  23. Good to hear Dinko, hopefully you will have better luck transferring files now. On a side note, the battery life is a bit on the lower end, granted the battery is new, so I am hoping it will increase by the end of the week.
  24. Seems to be similar to the new A series ones. I haven't seen any AC adapters for the older E400, E500s, but one thing that annoyed me with my MD is the AC adapter could only be used in North america, where as now, the adapter is from 100-240V, which was a smart move by sony at last. Charge is pretty fast using the AC rather than just USB. Only difference between this and the A series one is the mA, 500 vs 800 for the A1000. Anyone know what it is for the A3000?
  25. They are on sale in Canada, last time I checked Canada was part of north america. I got one ad from sonystyle, yesterday for the player and now the A3000 purple version is back in stock at sony after being sold out. When I bought my A1000 at best buy, the rep told me they received roughly 22 or so units of the 6 gig on the the 17th and 18th, and there are 3 left now. this is only one store. I've yet to see any ads in the flyers, but perhaps this week. I don't think sony will advertise like the apple does, it isn't really in their nature for NA. I rarely see any commercials for sony products on tv, except perhaps laptops, tvs and pcs, other than that most of the other electronics aren't marketed much. I do think it has to do with the name, most people connect sony with quality and latest tech. I disagree with you on the step behind, sony took a different approach to the walkman. I am sure they did market studies for it, ie mostly in europe, and asia where my guess is the bulk of the sales will be. If sony doesn't launch the product in the US, I couldn't care less. Sure the ipods are superior in one function over another, they do lag behind in others. No specifics, since everyone has a different take on the what is better in what.
