  1. Note: There is alot of opinions expressed here about the future of MD, Just thats not the topic theme! lol http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=14295 The RH1 is abit expensive for me! lol I'm about a year old to minidisc started in the Hi-MD format in august with my NH1 fell inlove with the format, don't want to leave... So I don't have and NetMD discs to upload, besides that my NH1 does everthing I would use the RH1 for... lol, the only reason I would get another player is for backup player purpose.. If I lived alone it woulden't be a problem just its the other people in the house who are careless - my family - they have already spilt grape pop over some of my discs, imagin if that was my player! GULP!!!! lol Anyway enough of my rambleings...
  2. Check here! http://minidisco.com/md-storage.html
  3. Thanks for the infomation... I mainly use my Minidisc player for travel and you can't tell the quality... I kinda am thinking that that extra space and less power would be a useless waste? Right, anyway when I'm at home, well with my laptop I use high-quality MP3's (VBR)... I guess 64 seems reasonable for that - thinking about it so does 48!
  4. Its just personal preference I guess... All I'm going to suggest is get a 'RM-MC40ELK' for you'r RH1, The player has a limited screen display. 1 line on the unit and ships with a 1 line remote... http://minidisco.com/rm-mc40elk.html
  5. A recorder and player is good for me! Thanks for that infomation... I forget about Minidisco!
  6. The only problem I have is that the 256kbps sometimes leaves me in the 74(80)min discs with a couple of minuets cut off the end... and 192 leaves me with LOADS of space useless left on the disc... I don't like splitting discs, do you know if there is a solution?
  7. I don't know, but you could always get something like this... http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...6621454-6642819 I do know that you CAN get empty cases...
  8. Does anyone know of anywhere I can get a Hi-MD player online or offline for around £100? I'm thinking of either 1 getting either 1 a HDD MP3 player or a backup (Secondary) Hi-MD player... Thanks,
  9. I agree I love my MZ-NH1.. I'm still looking for another player, Just there arn't any budget players avalable besides eBay and I really don't like using eBay... lol There were just that first gen of budget players and that was it.. I got my NH1 in the sale at Argos.. I coulden't have got it full price! I still love the Hi-MD format... All it needs are some cheeper players and A Sterio system and A DECK!! I would prefer a sterio, but a deck would be good!
  10. Just tried atrac3plus 256kbps... Why have I been using 64kbps? It sounds GREAT!!!!! Just it does use alot of space and power!! I don't dare try to use the 352kbps... I dread to think the amount of space and power that will use!!! Can anyone tell me the lifespan of the MZ-NH1's battery with 352kbps? Thanks
  11. I just formated my computer the other day, Ran simple burner and had this problem... The patch worked great, but I haven't had this problem before? It seems kinda strange! ???
  12. Drag and drop, have we thourght about the ability to even do this? To make it play atrac3(plus) files you have to have software!!! Unless your talking aobut .mp3 files, that ones possable and would be kinda usefull - But Hi-MD isn't a MP3 Player!!! Don't turn it into one!

    Hi-MD

Hi-MD is great for listening... The only problem I've found with my MZ-NH1 is the lack of MP3 playback... Thats IS sorted finally in the RH1, Just the price of that, ouch!
  14. Grape POP is a nightmare to some of my MiniDiscs... My brother threw on minidisc at a wall it took 3 attempts for it to break, and then is hit the corner of a radiator! And the didn't brake the case, just the disc inside!
  15. Its not oftern you see pictorials of the lower end Hi-MD players, thaks for that!
  16. Do you have the origional CD's? Or have you ever? If you have you can rip them in SonicStage to the atrac3(plus) bitrate you want to use! That should give you a better sonding file... You can always try the SonicStage 3.4 full download that is still on this site, http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=11889 That might be better? http://forums.minidisc.org/downloads/details.php?file=21

    Hi-MD

Yeh, HDD mp3 players had dropped in price alot lately - and so have flash - I've seen a 2GB one about the same price as 4 Hi-MD discs! thats the chepest I've seen yet! http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...ronics&v=glance Hi-MD is failing hard at the moment as a listening devise, but Is strong for porable recording... I guess someday thats all it will be, too bad I guess... Its a great format. And my MP3 collection growing faster than my CD one, getting a mp3 player seems more apertiseing everyday! (Still less than, but growing)
  18. Are these MP3's? (guessing by you playing them in WMP) If they are, converting from one lossy codec to another lossy codec will always add defects(quality loss)... Try useing a PCM soruce, (a cd ect) If you have to use lossy codecs try to use 320 or heigher.. As for the problem not beeing there in earlyer versions of sonicstage, maby thats something to do with how they have developed the codec to get better quality sounds? Maby in that it just dousn't convert the mp3 waveform as effectivly now as it did before? This is just one possability, maby its not that... But I cant think of anyother reason for it?
  19. I have version 2.0 that came with my MZ-NH1 would that work?
  20. I voted price.. thats the only thing that is causein' me to want to go away from the format, not that I want to or have yet...
  21. I'm glad you got it posted! Good work there...
  22. I would try, but I don't think I can get an installer for SonicStage previous versions! and then would It be possable to get that to Hi-MD with another 'hack'? I would If I could and thanks! Just one more question... How did you get your md player to give up the 32 infomation?
  23. could this be applied to earlyer version of SS to get the 32kbps? http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showt...60entry100884 And for transfer to Hi-MD
  24. there is 3 options that I can see... Try version 7.1 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...n7/default.aspx (downgrade) Or try downloading version 9 install that - there might have been a minor update in it since the last download - and try then... http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...es/default.aspx Or try Sonic Stage CP 4.0 http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9586
