What Gets Your MD portable Freak On>?
mercury_in_flames replied to mercury_in_flames's topic in Minidisc
compared to..? Compare them to an ipod and yeah fine, but if you are just talking about their ergonomics by themselves, then my mz-r909 is pretty ergonomic. the scroll wheel on the side of the unit, and the play/pause/ff/rw button are pretty cool. -

Help transferring music from Puretracks to Sonic Stage!
mercury_in_flames replied to carolyn2u's topic in Software
Tracks that are bought off the net in wma might be non-convertable, as they might have copy protection on them. You could always just record the songs from your headphone-out of your computer, if there are craploads. u mean your net md walkman -
Ive listened to lp4 on my jb980, and its actually amazing how much better it sounds compared to using my portables, one of which has type s playback. The only reason i dont use lp4 is because i hate the crackles, pops, and the bass effect- where there seems to be something wrong with the speakers or earphones at every thud of bass, because of the compression. So its listenable, but only for certain music I find.

132 kb/s = LP2 any songs i convert i keep on my external hard disk, That way i get good quality on my hd5 and have a bit rate that doesnt need to be converted for my md.

haha, well i asked a sony rep, quite a young guy, about 26 or so, and he said he was a car salesman before the job at the sony shop, haha. See? They dont care if the sales person knows what they are talking about, as long as they can sell stuff.
-
I always thought listening to my r909 was sh!! on my stereo because the volume of the md's line out wasnt as good as an original source cd. But i spose if you dont mind.

finally got my gumstick battery in the mail, and my big game-white lion cd.
-
haha, or just do research BEFORE hand
-
i think the S just denotes the fact that the unit is silver. If it were black it would be rh 910 B.

the recording will come out very faint if you do. Not sure how faint though. otherwise its just spending money on more bulk.

lol, i want to go and work at a sony centre just so i can laugh at the morons working with me

Playing discs recorded on one deck in another
mercury_in_flames replied to Grego's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
You could have a look at creative, they do internal and external sound cards; they start from around 40 pounds or 80 US for one with an optical in/out. http://uk.europe.creative.com/shop/product.asp?prod=510 I wouldnt go for something extremely expensive if you arent going to use it that often though. If your ES deck wont play your disc because it is an SP only deck, then first and foremost you need to get an md deck with an optical out. If it were me however, i would just get a himd unit, with that you can upload anything you record to your computer in WAV format. -

mercury_in_flames replied to Grego's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
if it flashes lp for a second then you need a deck or portable that can play that codec. If you get hold of a deck that has an optical out, and a sound card on your computer with an optical in, and a program to record it, then you can do it. -
long gone before daylight-the cardigans in SP mode on my deck

those crappy headphones that come with MDPs and other PAPs
mercury_in_flames replied to sonic_rage's topic in 'phones
The earphones that came with my r909 back in the day were cheap crap, so were the ones that came with my hd5, they may not sound the crappest in the world, but sure are uncomfortable. -
lets wait and see if sony officially says its compatible with md and hd* series things, otherwise theres not much point in downloading the connect player, if only to say it sucks. Has it been stated that the new connect player is good 2 go with the older non A series devices?

I've seen this thread at another certain forum, and it was semi interesting just to see what people were spending their money on (not bagels, coffee etc), whether it be new audio gear, photography gear, engine parts etc. Well i bought this lense a week or two ago on ebay, the buyer wanted a cheque so it took a bit longer, but sent it via specia delivery although i wasnt home, and the oaf forgot to leave the card to tell me he had attempted to deliver it. Anyway, I got it this morning, worth every penny. It was 46 pounds plus 10 for delivery. I bid a bit late so in the end im just glad i got it. It really is in mint condition http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...52684%26fvi%3D1 Try to keep it to things costing more than 40 dollars or 20 quid
