try another disc, if that doesnt work, then u might have to go thou uninstalling s.s (do a backup before though). Its vertually impossible to recover a disc, from what ive seen people say, so I would just erase the disc, and start fresh. But see what others say first obviously.

go to minidisco.com and they have the m100 which is the rh10 and the m10 which is the rh910, those can be used with mac. If you dont have to have the oled screen just get the rh910. If you just want basic recording and the most basic looks, then you could get an nh700 or nh900. The battery lives vary, the rh10 has a gumstick battery which is removable if i remember correctly. What feautures are most important to you? What's your budget?

yeah its a possibility. lp2 via optical gives me full left and right channel readings on my deck , but via s.s sometimes not. Other than that, i can;t think whether its happened to me before.

Just took my cmt-se1 to the service place today. The time they take will depend on if they need to order parts so yeah. Lets see how sony's service is this time around. *edit* i phoned them and yeah it has a fault (duh) and they say it shouldnt take more than two weeks to fix..we'll see. grr..

Just did a test, when importing the cd 'demon days' to WAV, it took 1 minute 40 seconds to import. It then took 2 minutes 56 seconds to convert the wav files to atrac 256. The cd is 15 tracks (50 mins 43 seconds).
