wasn me I dont think the ppl here are too bad, i could name a few ppl at other places who can be pretty snyde (sp?), tactless and patronising, when it comes to 'tutt tutting' members.

As long as my net md deck uses 132 atrac, and I dont want to re-encode my music to transfer it to md, then I'll stick to 132kb/s, If it sounds good enough through my deck, its good enough for my hd5. If I get earphones that really[i/] show the detail, and I hear a huge[i/] difference, then maybe. But as you, say, it is subjective. I suppose its also the fact that I dont want to see my hd5 on its last 2 gigs any time soon, just because of higher bit rates. I've only used up 6gb so far, but still. It would annoy me to no end to have to have two lots of the same music on two different devices if i got a 40 gig mp3 player, or to have to choose between two different mp3 players with different music on, to listen to.

Does anyone here actually change bit rates that often?? Out of about 1200 songs, I have only encode about 25 or so in 256kc atrac, the rest are either mp3s or 132 atrac. I cant really hear enough diff in 132 and 256 atrac, to use 256, when the songs are just about 1.5 times their size when in 132. i.e from 6 to 9 mb

Constant gardener was actually pretty good. Its a conspiracy sort of film. I was impressed with the actress who was also in the mummy, and plays ralph fynes wife. The mummy was a bad film i.m.o just because it was silly. So yeah, worth a watch. Speaking of conspiracry films, have you seen 'the manchurian candidate' with denzel washington? That was very good. I remember that film, Almost Famous, pretty good. Getting paid on the 24th, so might be on the lookout for some new gear, although I really must try and save to start learning to drive.

Damn thats crap fish. A little o.t but my r909 stopped working while under warranty a few years back. It would only record 15 minutes into a disc and then when you went to play watever you recorded back, it would just show the disc spinning but wouldnt play any sound. I ended up having to take it to the Sony service place 3 times till they bothered to record a full disc and admit it was faulty and fixed it. So my experience was, bad.

haha, i doubt they will do that, and i'd rather take it there in person, one less way it could get hurt when changing yet another persons hands. I will ask them if i can get at least another years warranty, cheers for the idea. I am only taking it on the 24th as thats when i get paid but anyway.

you can buy extended warraties here too. I bought a 2 year for my deck, but i didnt have the money at the time that i bought my se1. I wont have to pay for the parts, I found out that i just have to take it to a shop that services for sony, they are a chain called J and E associated. I am getting paid on the 24th and then i will go there. My friend wants some petrol money to drive me there, im just going to give him 10 pounds or 18 dollars, just for a 'thank you' gesture.

on the contrary to what you've heard about the n1 , ive heard that its had massive issues with its optical blocks etc worn out quickly.

Unreal, 11 months and 15 days after i buy my cmt-se1, the line out stops working, talk about timing. Ive contacted the site where i bought it from, but I am pretty sure i will have to take it to a sony centre. gaad daaamn.

I find the sound levels are sometimes higher when i record it via optical.

haha, i didnt know u got an hd5. I also never use my md's for portable use anymore, but use md all the time at home.
