I reccomended a Mono pod not a tripod , Extendable , lockable , adjustable . The RU -43 has a Ball Head joint for putting the mount in any position , it is ready out of the box , doesnt cost that much , just add the little screw adapter and your going , no muss no fuss . I like building stuff, building a Boom pole would be a fun project but , with all the questions this guy is asking ( take no offense here ok) but it just doesnt seem like that is his bag King . If it isnt ready and workable and self explanitory when he gets its it , he isnt going to know what to do .

listening to an F22 doing rounds over head , it is raining and dark up there so visibilty is zero so he has to be flyin by wire , but he is awful close to treetop at times. They are putting that bird thru its paces , very different sound from the 16's always around here. Vectored engines and fully controllable airsurface. That is a lot of aircraft to be toying with

You were asked ..How did you adjust the Laser on the RH1 ? You never answered that . It would improve Battery life , stability , and longevity .

Have you ben to Stage 6 lately? Divx has gotten a lot better than it used to be , And I dont know of any DVD player that are QuickTime certified . Only your computer , so you have to go thru several steps to get that QT file to your DVD at the expense of your proccessor, whereas I can download a divx file ,burn it to a CD and watch it in my DVD player . Divx Capable players have only been around about three or four years , and at first they werent very good and were VERY expensive(still are but nowhere near as bad) Point is the price is coming down , and the quality is outstanding now , I have divx vids that are DVD quaity. There are quite a few Movie trailers being put into Divx by the Movie company , not encoded by someone at home . This is a format that is steadily getting stronger and stronger , and its growth has been gaining a steady fanbase , not fluctuating all over the place , that means it is a major contender . Pioneer , Panasonic, Techniques, and quite a few others are on the Divx Bandwagon and A lot of the Nicer portable DVD players are Divx equiped . As well as a Good portion of the Home theater systems are now Divx able, I have yet to find a QT Dvd player . I will give you time to recant

the battery in the MZ-1 is 6 Volts , if you get Close to but not Over the 10.5 you can get away with it , Get a 9.6 volt center positive and change the plug to fit . Or find a 10 volt printer , or older SCSI CD Rom drive that has a 10 volt supply . Just want to make sure it is well filtered. Use a digital multimeter , with the adapter plugged in to a wall socket , set the meter for AC , put the leads to the plug and watch for a steady AC current ,( There will be some AC ripple by it fluctuating you will see that ) If there is NO AC voltage steady out it is filtered , and the less fluctuations the better. next set the meter for DC , attach the leads and watch the DC for 1 minute or more , you want to look for stable voltage, not up and downs . ( It will be higher than the rated volts, because it isnt under load yet ) . I measured mine for you , the Open DC voltage was 15.3 steady The Open AC was 0.986 steady So a 10 volt Adapter rated for 800 ma up to 1 amp would work fine . You have to MAKE SURE of polarity and proper plug fit . Got to an Electronics place that has parts and stuff. the plug will cost you probably 2 dollars. the adapter , got to a Goodwill or Thrift store that has Computer or sound gear and dig thru there boxes till you find a 10 volt with the power rating , You will change the polarity with the new plug , if need be .

Karl , I had the chance to play with it when it first came out , One of my Guitar students worked for Lighthouse Electronics , in Monterey , and I would teach at the store on his lunch break . One day he says to me" Youve been teaching me awhile now I got somethin to show you" , so he Breaks out the MZ-1 , they had just got it in ( The owners of the store were Japanese, so they had the inside track) sets a Mic up and asked me to just play , so I did, then hit stopped the Machine let it write the contents Labled the track , and hit play . It was Me , it was my Guitar , it was exactly what I had played , uncolored unaltered ( For what I knew at the moment about the machine) I fell in love with MD there on the spot , I was one of the first people in the United states , to Hear and use MD . Literally , It hadnt even been released to the U.S. Market yet they got it straight from Sony ( The store owner had worked for Sony in Japan) But 700 dollars at that time precluded me from buying it , I played with it borrowed it , used it wanted it drooled on it over it around it . But alas .....it was not mine. The appreciation was there a LONG time ago . Not just the past 24 hours.

I would agree , I noticed the new Divx pro format , the audio is coded mp3 . I checked the files on the computer , and also on the DVD player and they both read Mpeg4 with MP3 audio with the amount of Divx capable DVDplayers increasing , as well as other Video formats using mp3 , I dont think its going anywhere either . The discussion just directs the issue at the Music industry , but the format is in a bunch of other situations as well.

What would be really cool is a Flash back model. Go back to the very first one , do a Commemorative thing . Rebuild or Copy exactly the design of the MZ-1 but HiMD capable . The MZ-1 was the very first MD recorder made. it has Optical in/out (both) 20db Pad on the Mic input Variable Rec level on the fly Headphone out Seperate from the line out wite Seperate Volume control ( Very cool feature) Key Pad text entry , that is fast and easy Built like a tank, very solid. I would add 1 feature though , Overdubbing , Say you sit down and record Guitar/Vocals withe a Stereo mic , and it sounds good , you got what you wanted , but then your listening to it and playing some cool lead riffs and your like " Man I wish I could just get that lead part on there , that all it needs , I could go straight to disc with this one" The Songwriters MD . That would be cool Yeah a Commemorative , that would be cool , I would buy it

Ladies and Gentleman ,........... Just Back from Hardoff AGAIN!!!! Still in my backpack . I Now have , The Beginning , The best , and the Last (Possibly) of the Sony MD history ,...... Yes thats Right , I found ......in WORKING ORDER ( Testifying to the durabilty of ) The ORIGINAL , THe FIRST , The BEGINNING OF AN ERA , ........The SONY , MZ-1 MD recorder. W/original Battery , and Power Supply Optical in / out 20db mic PAD/Attenuater Adjustable Rec Level on the Fly Switchable ACG KeyPad Text entry 2,000 ¥ That is 20 dollars folks , ( I would have paid that even if it wasnt working just to set it on my Shelf ) This is from when SONY was Cool . MZ-1, MZ-R50 , MZ-RH1 The three landmarks of MD history now I have them all , I can die happy
-
The best way to to that would be to record from the line out of the PC to the MD in SP mode then it will play on any player

RH1 , and MD Transfer 2.0 , and your MacHappy
-
Hey Raja , uninstall SS then go into "Reg Edit " .You will have to do into the registry and delete any thing and everything related to Sony check ALL the files in the registry for stuff related to SS and SONY , it will be spread out . Then after all that reinstall SS but read everything before you click it .
-
My bad , I thought I read an RH1 in the mix there somewhere ( I am half asleep at the moment)
-
I hate to say this , but with the Mac , there are no transfer issues whatsoever , Windows and SS just dont seem to get along , I have read soooo many bug issues its unreal , but on the Mac using MD Transfer 2.0 there are no fancy menus or anything to screw it up , just upload , and download . Since your doing the RH1 thing , Go to freind who has a Macbook or anything running OSX get them to download MD Transfer 2.0 and just try it . That alone is reason enough to buy a used Macbook Plus the DVD /CD Burner built into the mac is pristine audio quality , dont get me wrong I was on XP since XP came out I was on 98 before it became SE , I was windows for a LOOOOONG time ( I have used 95 , and loaded EVERYTHING from floppy ok ) But with the new processers and the new macbooks and pros coming out you will be able to get a Refurb , or Used fairly cheap set it up for just doing audio and nothing else , Keep the Windows sys for the Gaming and everything else .

You wont harm a Dynamic by phantom power ( might introduce some noise ) but it wont damage them , the Phantom is defeatable on the Zoom . It is just that the preamps on the H4 might not be hot enough for the SM58 , there will be a fair amount of self noise evident . It would be "Workable" but not great .

AT822 comes with a big fat wind screen Hey 440 thx for that link , I had fun just browsing , They have a bunch of Nagra stuff , and the have the Shoeps mini mics in Stock , those things are expensive but VERY cool , I have heard some very good studio work done with those. Because they are so small you can put em anywhere , Inside the Piano , clip it to anything ,
-
Indeed indeed , you can shoot chromium slides with that , go straight to metallic prints. A lot of Black and White Photographers use that bird, Ansel Adams had two or three of them, as well as other Box types
