I have a DR7 as well and the Sony RH1 , I noticed the amp on the DR7 is nice but the inputs are noisy , the Mic input is so drastically different than my RH1 it is unusable . I have an OLD MZ-R3 , and the mic input absolutly blows the Sharp out of the water . I like the controls on the Sharp for playback , the speed control , is very smooth although it does change pitch because it actually slows the disc down , but the sound is very smooth . it is good for working out guitar parts. I have to agree , record with the Sony , play on the Sharp

But sticth trip , would cost less and look cool , I will do one and put pics up

You just have to make sure and edit what you have recorded on the MD , BEFORE you upload it , Live concert etc , do your marks and spaces before you upload to SS then everything is already seperated

I read the review , sounds like you had more fun contemplating the review than writing it , loved the part about pulling the mac off the table ( I look sheepishly around to make sure no one is listening and say ....Yep , Ive done that ROTFLMAO ) and talking to someone about what your listening to , man ...how many times havent we all , just wished that we could make everyone around us hear what we each hear and what goes on in our head , but alas ... nobody is listening . Wouldnt mind having a pair of those phones , and I can vouch for the 66l's I have listened to them quite a few times , and they are very comfortable.

Why not just make one , some leather , an awl , layout and stitch it . the picture is a good guide , it is just one peice folded over and two side pieces sown in wouldnt take long . Hobby shop or craft store would have the materials

there are very tiny vacuums for computer equipment at places like PC depot , and Comp USA , low power so as not to damage , but rather just clean, a Q tip very carefully gather the dust without actually touching the heads ( then MD head cleaner aferwards, wet type) if that doesnt work you have a record head cable problem .

Back to Hardoff again today , I bought a Sharp MD-DR7S , MD recorder , Auvi amp and a Set of Audio Technica ATH-ES3 headphones(New in box) I notice when I play the MDs recorded in the Sony's Atrac format , in the Sharp , there is some low level artifacts , the higher the volume the more noticable , I will record something tommorrow , and try the reverse play it in the Sony and see if anything shows. Anyone else notice this ??????

I dont buy ANYTHING from iTunes , although I am a subscriber to a plethera of podcasts , only the free ones , and that I do not have to register for . Music I buy in the CD stores , or at recycle shops , 100 yen for a CD , that is 10-12 tracks for 1 dollar , and your paying a buck a song . That is the cost of laziness , when you could go to a Used CD shop and pick up a buttload of music , keep the Music industry alive , as well as small businesses , Its the downloaders that are killling everything so dont complain about your personal info getting smattered. You wanna download you will pay in more than 1 way Just my 2 cents , I have over 1500 podcast and NO info swiping . ...... think about it . No my iTunes is not registered at the store , I declined on installation , no credit cards , and no iTunes account.

Dude I was a Windows guy for a long time , were talking Win95/3.0 here , XP was the main usage , I am qualified for repair of Windows systems . Even with that I will say get the Mac , And use MD Transfer 2.0 not the prog on the CD that come with the MD , download 2.0 The list of freeware for windows far outweighs what is available for Mac , but , the One or two main ones that are available (Audacity) Are good enough it doesnt matter . The audio qulaity , the Mac produces when you get to know what your doing is on the money , Mac rules for audio and video. For games ,...Windows . The Macbook doesnt have a seperate video card it uses Shared System memory( I have both the Pro , Core2Duo , and the first Gen Macbook CoreDuo) as lonn as your not doing Heavy video stuff the Macbook will do you good . The new Macbooks are nice , they have just been updated Core2Duo processors, and more memory with a better Graphics accelerator. You will not need any Anti Virus software , just put it in stealth mode in the system settings Spyware ? just delete the cookies. Get the Mac ,just my two cents

Update , iTunes now has University courses online for free. I downloaded about 90 GB worth already

The AT 822 has been in my arsenal for a few years , for ambient it is all I will use , I have the sony ecm 959a as well and I like the cable that is on it better than the AT822 but I still use the 822 . My two cents , if you send the mic back because of the channel prob get an 822 you won be disappointed , it is a very nice mic. try a cheap stereo cable , cut off one end , strip the wires , plug the uncut end into the MD mic input , set it to Pause /Record , put the headphones on and touch the wires ends , with your fingers , and listen for scraping sounds on bothe channels , if you still dont hear anything on the right channel , the MD's input has a problem.

I found a pic of it in use , you cant see the numbers but it clearly said MZ-R70 ,weird I wonder if it was manufacturing misprint and if there are others out there , I had it for 6 years , and yes it worked VERY well I loved that thing , Mic in wasnt as nice as the R50 , but it was small ,light and ........ well ,I ...... liked the funky green

Ok , but I will be picking up the eh70 when it comes down a little more , I hinted at that to the lady at the counter (they see me all the time in and out of this store ) so she took my Number and told me she would let me know when it hit a certain price point and would pull it and hold it for me....... I didnt even ask her , cool huh! nice lady It is the Silver with green trim

there was a difference in locales to the same model in the states (Same model no.) had differences here ......go figure when I looked at the 700 it sure looked a lot like the one I had , mine did NOT look like the 70 on the page you linked to . So maybe it was a 700 with a different no . But it was Lime green and button layout was almost exactly like the 700 ...weird it definately said MZ-r70 and it was LP I have about 90 discs I recorded with it , ...did I get a Chinese knockoff????????? This is the color and layout of mine

Just a thought , right now Sony MD's are discontinued, at the store the EH70 HiMD player is down to roughly 160 dollars (17,000 yen) and dropping fast , the EH50 is 13,000 yen at Best Denki so for a Hi MD player you might wanna come down a little

actually the R70 was LP I had one , lasted for a long time . the R50 was SP

Search eBay or Yahoo auctions , or audio traders , there are a few others you can get cheaper than that , and probably get a better MD unit
