  1. Yes they do , All the new iPods have recording with the exeption of the shuffle.
  2. Hey Wiz , if you can afford the shipping , I have a 5" diameter Newtonian , on a Full Equatorial mount sitting in my Closet Short tube focal length 750 mm or so I Rebuilt the mount , now I have to do the mirror alignment , The guy who had it before was a Astro PHoto guy , took it apart to clean it and didnt know how to get it all back together,.....I Do tho
  3. I found one for you in the states on Craiglist , its in good shape but the guy wants a bit for it ( 175 ) offer him a Bill and explain how everything is digital now , I mention this model because it was a Very good deck , If you know what your doing with analouge you can get pretty deep with this one. It was THe Studio of the time, Bruce Springsteen did one of his albumns on its brother the 144 , This has the same guts only in a portable package sale-312754140@craigslist.org
  4. Before you import to the computer , Play the disc in question in the RH1 , then hit the Pause button. now with the jog button on the side , move from track mark to track mark , At eack track Mark you dont want hit the track mark button and the track marker will be removed. Then when you import to the Computer the files will be intact the way you wish.
  5. Try and find an Old "Porta One " Or a Fostex X15 if you were in Jpan I could get you one cheap but the shipping would cost way more than the deck
  6. ZOOM , Tascam , HHB, all have just come uut with the next gent Flash based recorders, I Agree with 440 about whatever you get there will be the Battery issue , they ALL suck juice pretty fast , so a Battery pack is a Must Have. I have the RH1 and a Lithium USB power pack so that gives about 9 hours of recording , which coincidently is the HiMD Lp mode on a Standard 80 minute MD . Built in mics are getting better , but have never really been very good . You get what you pay for. If the Mic pres of the recorder suck so will your audio.
  7. as King said it depends on your budget , but I do a LOT of outdoor recording , and there is an old saying "Speed costs , how fast do you want to go " My absolute main standby for the MD is the Audio Technica AT-822 The Sony of the same price range , has less sibilance and a warmer sound, but not as high an output, plus if you lose the cable( its a 5 pin XLR not a 3 , and Sony wants a LOTTA money for that cable) with the AT 822 I can just make another no prob. a list : http://www.fullcompass.com/product/304055.html AT-822 http://www.fullcompass.com/product/293559.html Shure VP88 http://www.fullcompass.com/product/330222.html Rhode Video mic http://www.fullcompass.com/product/314915.html Apex T mic ( VERY Cheap) 13.00 http://www.fullcompass.com/product/254738.html Sanken Push/Pull CMS7S ( Very nice mic) has a Battery box ,4 AA's http://www.fullcompass.com/product/261144.html OKM In ear stereo pair http://www.fullcompass.com/product/233927.html BeyerDynamic MCE 72 ( I want this mic ,Very nice) 349.00 http://www.fullcompass.com/product/298736.html Sennheiser MKE44P ( another very nice field mic) all of these mics are under 500 dollars and just a SMALL sample of what is out there but these ar favs most of them I have heard some of them used . The Sennheiser 44p has a very unique sound to me , very airy and broad spacious, the AT-822 sounds a little boxed in in comparison but at the time that I bought my 822 The 44p wasnt in my budget range , now it is . Beyer Dynamic has always been on my Favs list , I have owned quite a few BD's and have always been happy with them ,Their studio mics are low output and require a good preamp , but when yu do preamp them , just feels good, the Stereo mic is self powered though and very natural sounding Just my two cents
  8. Mighty Sith Lord ,... he doubts your powers , "the farce" is not with this young one , he must be shown "The Way"
  9. Well to answer the "Is this the MD Killer post "I went out and bought the MicroBR 4 track from Boss today. My Review : first the Bad #1 Only 1gig Card capacity , and you have to be fairly selective about what card you put in ( doesnt agree with everything) #2 Only converts the finished song to MP3 , Does NOT convert to Wav , ( Addendum to the owners manual corrects the previous statement about being able to do Wav . ( you get a "Card full "error message) ( this was with only 2 tracks of acoustic guitar , on a 512 mb high speed card) #3 The final mastering of your 4 tracks can only be mixed to MP3 192kbs not 320 #4 External mic input is noisy ( even with the AT 822) Now the Good #1 The internal Mic doesnt sound half bad, it isnt a studio sound but for Idea catching it is quite usable #2 The menus and effects are quite broad in scope ( 4band parametric compressor? yes I said Compressor!!!) #3 The guitar proccessor is kikin, some serious growl for lead and other stuff , great rythym distortions too #4 It will record straight to MP3 or Wave in the MP3 Mode( it has two modes, 4 Track , and Stereo recording) with a 512 card in Stereo mode I hit the record button and setup the levels, when I activated the recording it started counting down 5+ hours at 192 kbs .. not bad #5 Actual sound quality is really good for demos and line in recording , the Drum patterns sound pretty good to ( although limited in function. #6 looks cool , (Just a hair bigger than the Video iPod, and not much thicker) #7 Runs on AA batts, ( not that the batt life is any good , ) and it has a regular DC plug , which means a standard 6 pack of AA's with a plug will run it ( been running it four hours on one so far) #8 It looks cool,...oh yeah I said that The display is really cool!! #9 in the MP3 mode it has a "Center Cancel " function to take out either Vocals or Main instrument part , plus it has a speed control for slowing down a file without changing pitch , Great for guitar students, and learning a complicated piece The manual is in need of help , Overall it is no MD killer , not by a LONG shot , but its fun , and great for getting a song idea down quick I sold the Micro Track 24/96 to get it ( in anticipation of the ZOOM H2) I already placed my order
  10. if you put track marks they will be seperate files. if you dont it will be one big file, Sony doesnt like the idea of you being able to upload download upload, the same song , Their version of DRM , There are ways around that.
  11. Do you still have the Aiwa? this will be drawn out but , Download Audacity , and record them into your computer thru the line input of the Computer. Then use the Sofware of the R90 to convert those files to NetMD files
  12. Hey King , did you notice the standard DC input on the side???? ANY battery pack you make will work just get the voltage right . I have an original ZOOM Battery pack for a 4Track they made some years back. So I ca modify the circuit and Wham Power for days
  13. Make sure you battery is fully charged the first time or it wont remember where your at . Mine did that , but after I charged the battery fully it stopped
  14. it would depend on te sound card in the computer. If direct digital is enabled on the computer itself then what comes from the USB will be the same as SPDIF to Toslink Toslink is the Optical , SPDIF is when you see the gold colored RCA plug that is by itself on some equipment . They are both Digital So it is instead a Binary to Optical conversion , not analouge to Optical
  15. Eric Bibb live , from NPR and recording it to the RH1, Optical , HiSP mode
  16. Have to be "Right Brained " for that
  17. I did thre guitar repairs today that will net me more than enough to go get it , Iwont have to Sell nuttin , especially my RH1 , Dats myne!
  18. Forgive me but I have to I wonder if his/her first name is ......Marsh!!!!!!
  19. I cant believe it , they finally make sonething that makes sense , I am definately going to buy this one. in fact I would be willing to sell the Microtrack to do so. http://www.samsontech.com/products/product...6&brandID=4
  20. For the screw , Get a really cheap pair of eyeglasses ( Drugstore , or someplace that sells cheap readers for 2 or 3 dollars) take one of the hinge screws out of the glasses. it should fit
  21. It has happened , Today the ruling was upheld in Federal court . Internet Radio loses http://news.com.com/2061-10796_3-6176631.h...5&subj=news
  22. The 40 is far more functional than the 55 though . The rc level controls , the scrolling , everything about the 40 is better than the 55 The 55 is designed for CD players not the MD , it will function with the MD but the 40 is Designed for that. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?s=&am...ost&p=83686 Dont feel bad about the 40 , that would be uneeded buyers remorse
  23. Well Korean is not included on the 40elk , but usefullness far outweighs the 55 http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?s=&am...ost&p=83686 go look at the pics and read , , dont slam the 40 , it is designed for the MD while the 55 is designed for CD players . Record level controls on the 40 Are the best that Sony has ever put on a remote. The display is configurable , Folder scrolling , and many things that the 55 just wont do .
