WOW , that is cool!

if the mount fits , K , Y , Bayonet then they should work , exept that you wont have the Auto focus , Or monitoring functions that are in the Digital Camerea lenses If you look at the mount of the lens from your camera, you should find several tiny gold plated connectors , those are like USB and power for the lens so Lens info and exposure etc get transfered to the proceesor of the SLR . If you use an older lens you will have to put the camera into Full Manual mode

are you on a Macbook ? it is Optical in and out , the Line in is also optical (dual function input) and the out is also dual function any good audio place will have the cables

Hey moon , I owned the M-Audio , and just recently sold it , You have to have good mics and the right cablesfor that recorder to do anything , I had the gear , Just when I saw the news about the Zoom H2 ( not the H4) there is a new one! When I saw the Zoom H2 runs on regular batterries instead of Lithiums, and it had 3 Mics for true stereo recording I decided the MAudio had to go . You dont want to use the Shure for this with out a preamp or coming from your mixer to the Line input of the MD You will want actually a Small mixer and seperate mics on your voice and the guitar , That way you will get a good blend ( controlable ) and a little tone control as well by the EQ on the mixer . There are a Number of Small mixers out there Berheinger , Mackie, Soundcraft ( I have one of the Soundcraft Compact4 mixers) Fostex has a couple af battery powered mixers if you can find them ( they arent easily found on the website ) But the way you want to do this really requires at least two mics and a small mixer

You can use a Hiking Pole(Monopod) ( extendable ) that has a camera screw mount built into the head , and get a 1/4" to Microphone screw adapter and a Nice headphone extension cable ( 1/8" stereo to add length to the cable from the AT822 you will see why when you get it ) By the way , this is the setup that I use (listed above) I have a very nice Monopod Hiking stick , that has 7 feet extendability , very lightweight and sturdy . OFC cable to run from the mic to the MD . The AT822 is going to surprise you and will quickly become your favorite toy , it is a VERY forgiving mic

Have no Idea , Optical copy to PCM .....SCMS?? It was a Disc that Jim Walker the leader of the group Free Flight Gave to me , hehad burned it off of his Macintosh from the old master . I Made a Analouge copy no problem . And did an Optical copy to the MZ-B10 (MD SP mode) no problem .....so I dont get it.

Mateo , do a google search on " Blocking Capacitors" you will get plenty of info

Well it just depends on the view from behind ... That happens a LOT here in Japan ...... and I dont mind a butt ,, uhhh I mean Bit i Really should post some pics

No you shouldnt get distortion in the unit that recorded it but if you play that MD on a different MD unit (Older one , freinds etc, ) there might be a problem . The Dynamics of newer recordings have a LOT more range than older digital recordings(CD's) the technology has advanced and Digita recording has advanced a Lot in just the past couple of years ( We are talking MAJOR changes here) So the recordings of today are quite a bit "Hotter" than a couple of years ago . Compression Ratios , and Dynamics processors have extended the range that they can get ON to a CD now , so as a result you will have odd anomolies like that . I have an OLD Cd Micheal Hedges "Aerial Boundaries" ... The Vinyl and Tape were way hotter than the CD ( It was a First pressing , way back) and I have "Beyond Boundaries " which was put together after he died , and my speakers want to jump of the table. the difference is night and day , I really had to fiddle with the first one to get it to sound good ,Copied to the Hard drive ran it thru a couple of programs to bring up the levels and reduce noise then re burn it To be a little more detailed , You have to first set the rec level to manual and I think turn Sync Off , then you can put the RH1 in Pause start the CD and watch the level meter adjust the Reclevel to where it looks good , start the CD over and release the pause on the RH1 It will still Track mark automatically. That way you can adjust the older CD to be a little louder , and the Newer CD bring it down a little so it will play on anyones player , Thanks for asking that question , it is a very good question for a beginner and say that you want to truly understand and get the best out of your unit .

Yes it will power by itself ( No battery in the MD ) and it will recharge from 30 % on the MD ( I wouldnt go lower than that ) The output is 5.09 volts 300ma "So is this like a DIY project? Goodjob." No I didnt build it , I found it in the Cell phone Battery area of Yodobashi Camera ( an electronics store ) I bought three of them , and took one apart to see what was inside , Took pics and posted them for you guys. So , If you go to Best Buy , or Circuit Silly , or Comp USA , and dig thru the Battery sections and the Cell phone accessories you might find it . The Battery pack with two NMHD AA's by itself ( no battery in the RH1 ) gave me over 6 hours, Play time , so cut 30% off of that for record time .

The straight "T" type of mic doesnt give good frontal rsponse . It gives a Hard Left/Right either a Y or an M/S ( Mid /Side ) On the R55 when you go to record , push Pause then slide the Record button over and hold it for two secs it will switch to Maual rec mode. Then using the FFw/Rwnd buttons raise and lower the level watching the meter on the LCD , Second thing to note is Mic Sensitivity , for concerts you want it set to low , unless it is an acoustic gig with lower volume . If you can spring for a nicer mic do it , you will not be very happy with a cheap mic . There is an old saying " Speed costs.....how fast do you want to go ?" The R55 is a cool MD , get a nicer mic . I have probably 14 different stereo mics , and it comes down to 2 the AT822 from Audio Technica , and a Sony ECM 959a For Concerts and outdoors the AT822 is the clear winner . Shop around and see if you can find a used one ( Not Likely )

Hey Skyther , Yes it was your avatar , I still have an MZ-R50 ( the unit in the pic ) and it is still going strong so I swiped the avatar ( Forgive me?)
-
Matteo , I have the same mic , ECM959a , I know exactly what the mic should sound like , and what your describing sounds like there is something wrong with the mic , or the power from the mic plug (in the MD) is not being handled properly by the mic . I recorded a Thuderstorm with the ECM959a ,and had some pretty BIG thunder , if a mic is going to distort ..that is when it will do it . I had plugged an Audio Technica AT822 Stereo mic into a MicroTrack 24/96 , which has a small stereo mic input and got EXACTLY the same thing that you are describing. My AT822 is OK it works fine on the Sony MD Recorders that I have . But on the Micro track it was Horrible. I am thinking it is a power issue. Try making a small box , with two Capacitors inside , and 1/8" stereo input , and output . Put that between the MD and the Mic Input ( stereo mini plug) - capacitor from left of input , to left of output, another capacitor from right of input to right of output , Ground wire to ground of both in and out. stereo cable out- to MD . The noise should be gone what you describe is wha a "Ground Fault " sounds like ,the capacitors lift the signal from the ground . Also the links you posted do not work

Recording Stand up / Stand-up comedy - Best Minidisc Solution?
Strungup replied to srizvi1's topic in Live Recording
I own both the ECM 957a ( a BIG step up fro the 907) and the AT822 , and I keep telling you the AT822 , so what do you think I am going to say ? You are over thinking this thing and confusing yourself The AT 822 , in its price range is the best mic out there for all kinds of situations. plus it has the Low Frequency cut to keep the rumble down which lesser priced mics just do not have ( It is a MUST) You can spend a LOT more than the 822 , and not really get that much more mic. Its impedance is perfectly matched for MD there are a lot of good mics out there that work fine in a Mixing board , but plug them into and MD and they sound like crap. I am not saying anymore I have said my piece ,posted samples , gave advice, just as a lot of people have KING told you he does Video for a living , and then said " You want a stereo mic" ........my backpack generally contains .....a Battery pack , and RH1 , and an AT822 with a mini tripod or a walking stick with a mic mount . -
AHH gotcha , wanting the directional thing eh ?

Then I think your a sick individual .Blood of the animal clearly visible an the hands of those there , The neck hanging open by sinew , and people enjoying themselves by invading a raw carcass, for a game . I have hunted , and eaten from the field , But I will only kill what I know I am going to eat , It will be properly bled , and packaged before anyone would see it . The idea that Life is Sacred is obviously foreign to you . And that this is what we have as a species succumbed to for entertainment . But then again , nothing is Sacred anymore is it.

And of course Sony in Japanese fashion will deny any knowledge of afformentioned incident , "AHHHH ,It was the Caterers responsabilty" But It Is SONY who made a Game so Violent that it would inspire such thinking , There is no way out of this one for me . This isnt the Sony who's products Changed the consumer landscape and actually made Cool things. The Boards here have been alive with "Is THIS the end of the MD?" talking about one gadjet after another , I know I contributed my share to the fray . THIS ,....This corperate mentality , this Brazen groping for the pockets of anyone willing to pay for such dribble and Refuse ........THIS ....is the end of MD .

They also have this posted on CNET now , just checked , UNBELeiVEable This is the end of a great many things for SONY , ....The Dignity , I think left a loooong Time ago http://news.com.com/8301-10784_3-9714156-7...ag=2547-1_3-0-5

That officially ends my love affair with Sony , I never knew about that , that is disgusting. Thx for posting this article . They used to be cool , ..... seems like such a long time ago .

I tried an Optical Copy last night on my RH1 , on a 1GB (Blue Sony) disc , no go , wouldnt budge , I had it in PCM mode . I wonder if that might be an issue ( My manual is all in Japanese and I cant read it !!!)
