  1. Ja Nihonjin ja arimasen Gaikokujin nan deskedo Nice to meet you . I had a few of the Pro portables , WM-D6C etc. I really want a TCD-5M that would be sooo cool. got one laying around ?
  2. MD Transfer 2.0 download from SOny . I am om a MacbookPro and a Macbook I have the RH1 , you can find the manual for that software here or at Sony . Everything from the RH1 uploads as a WAV file ........ HilP,HiSP,PCM all come to the desktop as WAV . SO that will let you import to any audio editor ( Plug for Audacity goes here) but also GarageBand for adding stuff to songs your working on etc. DO NOT USE VERISON 1 that is on your RH1 CD , download version 2 The new macs will not like Version 1 and will curse at you and throw things at you , and then kill your dog. ...Version 1 BAD Groups = Yes, although I never do MP3 = Yes , as long as they are 44.1 and not 48khz , bitrate can be whatever128 ,320 ,64(eeeeewwww) Transfer Uploaded file from RH1 to different MD = I dont think so , read the manual for 2.0 redownload to RH1 = No ,1 way street here , no left turn either. Uploaded files cannot be redownloaded to same Machine. and conersely Downloaded cannot be Uploaded http://bssc.sel.sony.com/BroadcastandBusin...acv20manual.pdf
  3. nice job , I did one similar for my solar panels , but used a Varistor on the adjust , and slight different values elsewhere so that it would be variable voltage.
  4. Listening to my External HDD spinning as it is being filled with Educational courses and Videos for Stanford U , UC Berkley, and the AstroPhysics center iTunes has a new Department,.... iTunesU the U means University , Free education from older course material 2005 , 2006 full courses. Get some eh!
  5. LOL now we all gotta start countin the grey hairs ,.....First MD goes Davy Jones way , next Us ........How come there arent any OLD MAN smileys to stick up here !
  6. That looks good , make sure the zenier is of the proper current rating for dissapation purposes, And you may wish to add a microswitch to the power , for on and off Nice drawing by the way
  7. There is some inginuity You could make a Classroom series , based on Subject by Subject , and I am quite sure that Knowledge hounds ( such as myself ) would be quite interested in a exchange of sorts with you
  8. I actually had the 24/96 , for three months , I took it back and sold it at loss.
  9. Here is another direction Technology is going , in truth md is Now antique history I wish it could continue somehow http://news.com.com/1606-2_3-6186146.html?...e.video.6186038
  10. Yes , two things A resistor when it faults it usually Opens ( no signal ) if it is only partially faulted , its resistance level will go way up. (which is the symptom you describe) a Capacitor will short or open depends on how it goes , Over heating either by to long on the soldering iron can cause that . Good soldering technique is a must when working with electronics . using a Low Temp Flux solder is also a good idea. Keeping the soldering tips VERY clean and well shaped is another point to think of. As well , when you bend the ends ( wire off the resistor ) use a small pair of pliers to hold the part closest to the resistor body so that you dont break the connection inside the resistor, same for the caps
  11. MD Transfer 2.0 . I am also n a Macbook and Macbook Pro you can download it from SOny Evrything will upload as a Wav file it will not be in Atrac on the Mac it will com into the Mac as a Wav file . what I dont know is if that model will agree with the MD Transfer software , The RH1 works very nicely with it .
  12. from the look of that circuit are you sure that your getting 9 volts to the Mics?, just because you split the voltage and shunted it to ground , doesnt garauntee stable power ,Also that design means a constant drain on the batteries whether your plugged in or not . the impedance of the mics would have to be calculated , and factored in ,a couple of Zenier diodes and proper resistor bridging would give you 4.5 stable and isolate the power supply to each mic . ( but of course the box starts getting bigger ) if the mics are capable of 9 volts then no problem . Just two cents that all.
  13. Hey Rain did you listen to the MP3 samples up there?
  14. If I find one at Hardoff , I will take some pics, give my opinion of its worthiness , and let you know . Then we can talk about the Buy/Sell thing . Shipping from Japan on a public level is more expensive , Companies buy the shipping authorisations in bulk , so it doesnt cost them anything to send stuff. But for the generall public , it costs at least the second child , but the firstborn for sacrifice purposes in most cases.
  15. Is the plug a 4or6 pin switching type plug , you might have the wrong tab soldered
  16. Get the 40ELK remote to go with it , you will love it the first time you use it , (Looks cool to)
  17. The R50 was the best one they ever made , the Mic pre is clean , and the machine was over built , very durable , the only problem is finding replacement batteries. The are available in the US cheap , but not in Japan I will agree , I like the rec level on the fly , Use the 40 ELK remote and the Scroll wheel is the Rec level during recording , very smooth. here is a Baroque group I recorded with the RH1 and an AT-822 http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?act=A...ost&id=2313
  18. Eject the disc from the sidebar , not the MD itself, open Finder and look on the sidebar you will see the MD as a disc image and a little up arrow next to it .That is the eject that is being spoken of . Eject it from the system ( it cuts the USB connection and saves the file at the same time. You misunderstood the eject command, You can also Control klik the disc image on the desktop a window of choices pops up including "Eject This Disc" Try that and get back to me Again DO NOT REMOVE the MD from the player
  19. Beat ya to it Booj , I had my order placed a while back , just waiting for it to come in ( already paid for )
  20. Your a little unclear , I am on a Mac so I will try to help . Step by step Ditch the term "Record" that is reserved for the act of having a Mic or a seperate device hooked to the Line / Mic input and actual audio going to the disc. Transfer = Upload/Download, use the correct terms it will be easier to help . Upload = From the MD -> to the computer. Download= From the Computer-> to the MD Are you using version 2.0? I posted a PDF for you on another post . Because the Mac is dealing with RAW WAV files , it represents a copyright infrigment possibilty. so there will be some restrictions as to what you can do . Anything imported TO the Mac is imported as a WAV file for the purpose of being able to go straight to an audio editor, or program for dealing with audio. But those same files cannot be retransfered to the MD ( really stupid I know ) Files transfered to the MD from the Mac , cannot be retransfered back to the Mac ( Again REALLY FRIGGIN STUPID I know) So what I need to know is What kind of file are you trying to transfer( I will duplicate the process) and how you are transfering it.
  21. Ok here it is , this is the technology that is killing the MD and is changing the way people communicate and live http://www.nseries.com/index.html?CMP=BAC-...ducts,n800,demo This would be an extremely addictive device ,as that it does everthing to entertain , and inform at the same time .
  22. Nice to meet you, Th only real reason for HiMD (Rh1) is to be able to load to your computer , if you dont mind listening from the MD itself , the older MD's are just fine I have an MZ-1 , the first MD recorder made , and it sounds very good , it wont play MDs I recorded on later units , but the first and second versions of ATRAC it plays well , The thing to me that is important , is that it sounds good and it works , just simply works. The more complicated things get , the more chance for failure.
  23. Your English suggests Taiwan or China , where are you from . I like the older MD units they were made very well ,and if you find one in good shape , generally they will stay that way . The only problem is finding replacement parts for them. That can be expensive. My R50 is still going strong
