  1. Wiz ,..... Tending to "Lean upon your own understanding " leads to Not being able to understand others . quite few have had problems with their Md's , your fortunate . Be thankful
  2. First problem ,..... your using the wrong input on the computer . Mic in is MIC level , LINE in is LINe level . That would be for the computer ,...... like going into the fridge , and seeing a Glass of clear liquid , thinking its cold water ( on a hot day ) and just grabbing it and downing it only to realize as the BURN hits the back of your throat that it is MOONSHINe and not water .( I have actually done this in a younger day , stepdads mason jar in the fridge ) Or better yet My Parrot decided he wanted a drink out of my glass one day flew over and just stuck his head right in the glass , I had Remy Martin in it God I wish I would have had a camera at that moment , the look on his face was TRULY ...You Tube worthy . Use Line in for Line level sources (Headphone out of the MD is practically line out ) so your solution is , if you do not HAve line in , get a USB audio interface and plug the MD into that , then you can record , until your hard drive crashes . mileage , and usage may vary based on consumer experience, any resemblance real or not to actual persons is purely coincidental and no animals were actually harmed in the filming of this movie ( some re-educated perhaps)
  3. If your coming off of a mixing board , I would suggest the LINE input and an RCA ->1/8" stereo cable , Mic 2 is just that MIC level , the Board will be LINE level out . I recorded a Meeting , from 7 rows Back , ceiling speakers distributed thru the room , with the DR1 just laying in a seat with the onboard mics facing up . and the sound was quite good , Low mic gain setting , Rec level at 7 or so , FX off . MP3 192kbs . and was quite happy with the results . I have noticed that with the software update , the mics clip a lot easier than they did before , but the sound of hi gain with the internal mics , just isnt for me , I can use the Mid and Low gain , but Hi gain is still way to noisy , as well as it just doesnt sound good , It has its quirks , but when you learn to work with them , and not against them , the DR1 is pretty cool. For that price anyway . to get better , your gonna have to pay for it .
  4. Hey Bad Doggie , klik this http://www.sony.jp/products/overseas/conte...jeb_SS42ug.html
  5. uninstall 4.3 ( all the way down to registry level , clean out everything Sony ) then defrag your drive , after that download 4.2 and install it . when you connect your MD after installing the software , make sure your connected to the internet ( XP will search for any missing or corrupted drivers )
  6. Patience Grob , turnaround takes time , not everyone is on these forums everyday .
  7. As I tried to hint to you , your speaking without knowing . list of what the other person got . #1 near Mint 909 recorder ( w/ all accessories)I went and bought it for him a little over 100 dollars , it was in very good shape . #2 Nice case for the recorder ,also new #3 (2 ) Brand new GP batteries , plus the batt in the unit #4 10 pack Blank Sony 80 minute MD's and a few other things I cant remember . I am just left with the feeling that it was know there was an issue developing or already there , and the unit was ditched for that reason. ............. I dont do that . I asked about wether I needed a new battery or not , never got a response , the LIP4M is 5,200 yen here , that is a fair chunk for a battery so I dont buy it unless I have to . Lets just drop it ok .
  8. 4.3 is for Vista , if your on XP use 4.2 after that , maybe the USB connector in the Md has an issue
  9. Hey Bob , I wasnt even using a remote , and you should know me by now that as an audio engineer I can troubleshoot just about any piece of equipment on the planet. But I appreciate the thought . I will just have to relegate it to a Stand mounted player , and try the battery from it in my RH1 , My idea was to be able to put all the mp3 's of Music lessons , and scriptural stuff , on it so I would be well equipped for my day. But apparently it isnt going to give me that . I dont want to take my RH1 around everywhere , I use it pretty strictly for recording, and not as a Playback ( I used the EH930 for that , but it doesnt play mp3 .) and as that I am on a Mac I dont use SStage , so I cant convert the MP3's to ATRAC . Lets get this thread back on track here . I appreciate you guys chiming in , and dont take me wrong , But it just makes me wonder .................. 3 hours Battery life ............. just listening to stuff ,.....and the skipping . I dont use the camera at all . I took 1 picture the day I got it and havent used it since
  10. here ya go http://forums.minidisc.org/downloads/download.php?file=21
  11. You already did ! You OWN one !! ...............now use it
  12. Congrats , Welcome to the MZ-1 club , .......... Most of us would have Sony Rebuilt Exactly that unit in HiMd format , and just put a different Battery case in it .(AA Pack) I am going to try and build a AA Case for mine that will fit in the Battery compartment.
  13. Dag .......... I wonder if that thing will do the dishes ????
  14. Well I traded someone here on the forums for it ( they got a near mint 909 ) and There are some problems with it , Battery life is not very good at all . And I am a little dismayed at what I got , I had asked this person if the battery needed replacing and they never responded to me . The screen show a fair amount of wear . I appreciate your input , and concern , I will be putting the dH10p up for sale , I have an MP3 player now , and it sounds good . That was really the only reason I wanted it was for MP3 ability and the display , I wasnt intending to take pix . It plays regular Md and HiMD fine no probs there . I transfered the MP3 files from the Mac -> DH10P , in cradle , with NEW HiMD blanks nothing ever on them . (4 Blanks 3.5 gb worth of material That I need for daily use ) So the MP3 player I bought is 4 gb it will take that duty , and the DH10P is for sale .
  15. I went out walking today with my recently aguisition, DH10p, Onl to be dissappointed .............Playing a disc of MP3 that I transfered USING the DH10p when walking it would skip all over the place , when sitting still it did not . But that killed it for me as that was the reason for me getting it in the first place . The MP3's were 80 kbs , So I stopped by Sofmap in Machida , and found in the Bargain bin a Transcend T.sonic 840 http://www.transcendusa.com/Products/ModDetail.asp?ModNo=166 This is my FIRST mp3 player to purchase , and it works drag and drop on the Mac , the Sound is VERY nice , way nicer than an iPod . and its 4 gb!! Also got in the JUNK bin a Sanwa VGA-TV1S2M digital TV express 34 card tuner for Mac ( 3,900 yen , SCORE!!!!!!)
  16. ahhhh , What bit rate is the MP3 file? or sample rate I should say
  17. As I understand it , the NH1 does not Play MP3's http://minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-NH1.html that is a first generation machine , You dont get MP3 ability until the RH710 , or 910 . ( 2nd generation and 3rd generation up )
  18. Right now doing a test recording from the Macbooks line out to the Line input of the Tascam DR1 , format for recording MP3 192kbs 44.1 sample rate the recording will be 1:58:37 long (1 hour 58 minutes) checking for clarity , and battery Start: Full charge Test subject , Nickel Creek final concert. will also record to the RH1 for same purpose ( Batt , Levels Clarity etc) Md lp2 mode( Fair equivalent) Update: 1 hour 13 minutes into recording , 1 battery mark down . Using mics will drain faster update will have to do this over , We had an emergency today , My Wifes father was in the hospital and we had to tend to that .
  19. Another Vista Nightmare ....... Put ,XP , or 2003 server Pro on it , get rid of Vista or .......... Get a Mac
  20. Agreed , The RH1 , and the AT-822 stereo mic , are still as yet , the best for a Naturist , as long as your dealing with areas that do not need limiting , the RH1 is Pristine I have the RH1 and the AT-822 , and Have used the AT-822 ever since the MZ-R50 ( And still do ) I can and will use that combo with the Tascam , in Louder venues , and will have quite acceptable results . Field recording though , requires An OPEN sound stage , and image . The Mic , Preamp , recorder Combo , has to be able to "Reach out " farther and maintain the openess , without noise . That costs money ......... Anyone that thinks they can get a REAL Natural image , without the proper gear is deluding themselves , You can get Passable for your own personal use by cutting corners , but not if you want the real thing . The Sony PCM D50 has basically the same preamp as the RH1 , ( at least I would assume it does , I just could not see Sony sacrificing that aspect of their reputation . I will get the chance soon enough to actually try the D50 and I will let you know ( see if I cant actually get a sample , and record it to the RH1 in store) But no the Tascam is definitely NOT for Naturist . Wind alone will clip it so bad you cant use it .( even with a scrunchy ) it is made for musicians
  21. As that you are a Journalist , you will be walking around or in motion quite a bit , The Tascam wont be in your best interests , in motion the Tascam has a severe problem . You dont hear it at all when not in motion . But here is an example of just a LITTLE motion with the Tascam( I also had the Limiter on , it is much worse without the limiter) Sony also has a New MP3 recorder coming out that is Mac/PC compatible and needs no software it is about 149$
  22. Well , I am fortunate to live where I have a moderately fast connection . so I will share what I listen to !!! Just mouse over and klik what you like www.Jango.com
  23. I have tried it , and every prog I tried to run failed , Simple progs like Graph Calc for window ( which I LOVED ) wouldnt run , Finale Notepad , wouldnt run , Musedit ( Which I helped with on the input design ) wouldnt run . I Cannot recommend Crossover , not untill they fix a LOT of code in it , it is still very buggy . I was on the Reviewer list of beta testers( advocate list) here is a program list with ratings of what will and will not work http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/b...name/?showall=1
