AAGGHHHHH a Newbie tryin to go into SERVICE MODE , Dude , DO NOT GO THERE , You can possibly render your machine UNUSABLE PLEASE !!! Let someone here who knows what they are doing do it for you .............. I am SURE that one of the old timers here would be happy to hack it if you sent it to them , and it would be done safely . If you service mode it without knowing EXACTLY what your doing you will Frag it so bad it wont work anymore.

I just Did a Full Upload of a Wav File , and Transfered 5 MP3's of varying lengths and bitrates . On an RH10 --->>> Using MD Transfer 2.0 on Macbook Pro C2D OSX 10.4 The disc , Was Formatted , in the RH1 first , a Standard 80 Minute Sony Blank formatted to Hi MD Mode in the RH1 , then used in the RH10 . But Charging , Uploading , Downloading ,Editing Labeling CAN be done on the RH10 in the Mac !!!!!! Listening to the MP3's now ! ( stock image from minidisc.org)

I did just this morning , to see if I could without taking my face completely off ( Probably not a bad idea ) But , You know what , I think I did pretty good , only one small cut , but A really good shave , and not much razor burn either , really surprised at how well a Straight Razor can do the job if you take your time . Plus the trimming of the sideburns Look WAY cleaner , sharp crisp lines . Sony MZ-R50 -----> Nice clean lines . Great Sound .......... Straight Razor , Nice Clean lines ........ Mine just recently died ....... Memory battery failure , Replaced , still Flash rom fried or whatever it died . I think yours is about to do the same , The boards only last so long . It was a nice machine , but generally speaking a 5 year life expectancy .

Avrin , thx for noticing in your first post , that the RH1 had a slightly lower input/output ratio ........... The fact that someone else noticed this solved an issue for me . I have noticed , that stuff I recorded on my R50 always sounded " Hotter " in fact pegging the meters of everything else I have . My Denon DMD-D50 in fact will drop out at times from some of my Earlier LP discs from my R700 ( I think that is what I recorded on ??? ) I thought something was wrong with the deck at first , ....... but I began watching the meter more closely during playback , and noticed the dropouts coincided exactly with " OVER" lighting up on the meters .............. This kinda sux ......... anyway I have a Teac M5 MarkII showing up later this week , so I will see if there is a difference there . But this is disconcerting as that Audio Levels , SHOULD be consisitant from within one companies gear , and especially with Recording gear . I wonder if you have a way , to measure the Levels to see if the input / output is DB accurate ? I appreciate the Freq response test , very telling indeed . But DB accuracy is also important , as that when your recording from Mic , or Mixing Board etc , what you se on the meter should be exactly what you are able to get into the Computer , That way you get the proper mental picture of what editing your going to do before you even start . If the levels are not correct , then you have to go about that first , before any serious editing like effects or ........ well you get my point . I have an Older Denon SP only deck that is solid as a rock , and outputs a very solid Optical signal as well . But it is SP only . I didnt pay attention to the levels until you mentioned that . I thought something was wrong with the other Denon . but it isnt , it is Levels are wrong .............. I have a LOT of discs in LP mode .......... So maybe I will sell this Denon for someone who doesnt mind a lower level .

So I think the last MD should be really functional , I mean like R2D2 functional , That you should be able to put the disc in and that R2 would Wirelessly transmit 5.1 audio to your system , while Playing the Band Holographically ,.......... oh yeah , and I think R2 should be able to pour Beer as well , that way you wouldn't have to stop jamming " I am thinking to myself ............ wow , that is some serious thinking skill ! I have to agree with this one , The whole idea in the first place is the Traveling of the ideas OUTSIdE the realm of the digital bitstream we know as the Web , and placing the ideas firmly in a tangible moment where there must be some Personal involvement not just keystrokes . Also The tangible ----> as the package travels , the containers become peices of the process , As Wiz alluded the Stamps , The Writing , The Postage marks ......... A piece of the World around us . The risk of Customs confiscation , the general challenge of just Doing it and making it happen . There is a Video on the web no about a guy who traveled the world , recording different musicians , and Splicing it all together for just one song . " When the Night......... Has come ............. and the Laaaand is Dark ......... and the moon , is the Onnly Light you seee . " Stand By Me ......... That I would agree with , Each adds 1 thing , but , to take and distribute what a musician is trying to make a living at is wrong , that is why we buy tix to a concert , or we buy the CD or LP whatever it is on . I am associative ( Not Close ,But .......) friends with Derek Trucks , Have played with Marcus Miller , Kirk Whalum , Kirks Uncle for a year doing dinner Jazz, Johnathon Butler back on his first CD tour , and sat in on Jazz sessions that included Wynton Marsalis , who blew his Trumpet right in my ear at point , cause he had his eyes closed and was DEEEPP in a solo ............ That hurt . I Knew Wynton and Branford's Daddy ,...... lived right across the street from where he was teaching had coffee with him in the mornings on a NUMBER of occasions ...... Ellis Marsalis was a genius , that was a serious musical mind ........... My Customers , people who I have done repair for , that list is long it would take a week to type it out But a few smaller names whom I would like to promote so they can get known , Mercy Creek , Her stuff is on iTunes as well ( I think ) ,Great Train Robbery ( When Will Mcyntyre was Lead player) they open a lot for 38 Special and Lynyrd Skynyrd . A Lot of the Bluegrass Players in VA , Pennsylvania , NC ... etc , have been through my shop So Believe me when I say I know how these guys feel about their music getting ripped off . A Woman in the US was just recently sued by the RIAA for 1.9 million dollars ...... for downloading 24 songs . She lost ........... so think about what your asking the guys here on the board to do very carefully .

The problem is your making a publicly known list , of Names , That the RIAA if they wanted to would be able to track down quite easily . You specifically mention " Live Recordings " which without the Performers consent would be directly illegal and unethical .......... I use to be one of those performers , and have discussions with other musicians who feel very much the same way . Not to be a bubble buster but .............. When you record a Live event for your OWN keepsake , it isnt as big of a deal , and nobody comes looking ........ But when you start Passing it around , and GIVING AWAY music that the artists should be getting paid for ........ Now we have a Problem . And I can firmly tell you you would not be wanting to be at a table having beer , with these guys and then mention casually ( without knowing whom you were speaking too ....... That you were GIVING away THEIR product .

I have 2 EH-70's for anyone who needs a reference . They work well with the 40 elk remote , and otherwise , Good Battery life , and the Play ALL your discs , with the exception of MP3 ..... SP/LP2/LP4 -> Hi MD PCM /HiSP/HiLP Whats not to like . Only thing I have noticed , is stuff I recorded on the MZ-R50 tends to be a little Hot , what I mean by that is on ever other MD I have , A nominal recording on the R50 Peaks the meters on everything else . So I get a little distortion when play R50 disc on the EH70 ( Guess I will have to lower the levels a little !!!) Jernikfra You really should post pics of the BACK of the EH70 , so everyone can se the button layout , Its Cool

Some DVD Players have an SCMS system for the audio as well as Video , Mine will do this , if I try to copy the DVD's audio to Md , I have a Doobie Brothers Video , and wanted to "Digitize" the Audio ........ Didnt like that . but I have toys , I have an SCMS bypass tool called MD Saver Pro , that is Optical in /Out , and has a Bypass mode and an Edit mode , in the edit mode , it strips the SCMS code from the Optical signal then sends it to the MD Recorder . It is getting old , so I dont expect it to last much longer , but has been a fun toy .
