  1. Still use my minidisc deck to record sports events that i watch in the flesh. When i get home i listen to what the commentors made of the game.
  2. How do you get to the hours played and recorded?
  3. thanks for the tip, Do you have a length and thickness for this rubber band. How did you fit it? Do you have to take the transport apart or is it easy to slip it on for a home user?
  4. The only desktop Hi-MD player was by Onkyo for the Japanese domestic market.
  5. Yes i would like one also. I have thought about the Onkyo but this is one thing that has put me off. The other is you have to import from japan
  6. there are the 2 onkyo full size decks that record hi-md as well. Japan domestic market only but the odd does crop up in the uk on ebay.
  7. freddyjoloo: Got any opinions on the SONY B100 Professional Minidisc Recorder? Seen a couple on uk ebay
  8. My first md. Beautiful construction a real pleasure to use
  9. Where is the oddometer in the jb940? What is the button combination to access it? thanks Martin
  10. Sharp units have an older version of ATRAC so id doubt they are better than the later sony units.
  11. "released 17 March 2015" Kind of odd since MD is not the best format with sacd and dvd audio nevermind the same quality like CD.
  12. Yes i would like one as well. They rarely come up sadly. Martin
  13. I always wonder if these type of machines are any good but that is probably me thinking about tape to tape decks being low end. The review bluecrab linked to seems to think the Tascam is pretty poor and a missed opportunity. Hopefully someone will review the teac eventually. Oh for a full size HiMD deck which isnt onkyo.
  14. Sounds like the crappy copyright protection Sony hobbled Minidisc with. An RH1 recorder is the best way to transfer music to the pc.
  15. Interesting watch and looks a bit beyond me. Hopefully my 2 Rh1s survive without this problem
  16. If you can find a windows disc you could install and use the trial for 30 days. Image it at day one and when the trial goes reinstall the image. Not tried it myself but some people seem to think it will work
  17. Hifi choice magazine tested blanks back when MD was popular and sony came up best with tdk second. The minutes is more important though with 80mins sounded worse than 74mins.

    This is nuts!

I used to buy from tapecity myself Last time i bought a HiMD was from the sony centre high street shops for someting like £1.50 a disk.
  19. Thanks for the link £350 for a portable minidisc recorder?
  20. I expect there would be the need for new interface software to be transfered over to select LP4 might be on the same chip but i guess not.
  21. Lo, Why do you ouput the 510s recordings via optical into you PC? Would it not be better to use an RH1 to transfer them to sonicstage? I use my 555es to record my vinyl after starting originally with a 920 Martin
  22. There are mono cartidges Maybe you can look into them to see if they are worth while with the number of mono recordings you have.
  23. What atrac version did the r55 have? v4.0 or v4.5 would be fine. Are you using the r55 on the move? If so then if you dont have isolating earphones then you will not notice the difference. TBH I like my r50 and i doubt there will be much SQ difference between that and any of the other MD portables i have ie rh1 rh10
  24. " Are minidiscs particularly susceptible to degradation over time, or did I probably just strike a bit of bad luck and get a couple of dirty/damaged ones." Not at all vulnerable. IIRC they are the most robust recording media available as they are magneto optical disks like the old syquest cartridges. As to water resistance not any more or less than other removable media devices like cassette players. If the lid/top doesnt fit close to the bottom/main part of the player it could be more vulnerable to water but that depends on the condition of your player. martin
