    I have several minidisc albums that unfortunately have cracked cases. Some small, others large. Do cracks on the case affect the value of the MD? The MDs themselves are like new. Or are buyers just picky about it? Any idea where I could buy empty MD album cases?

    So is it safe to say that all DSP Type-R minidisc decks will record the same, in terms of sound quality (SP 292kbps). An expensive JB or ES model, will not record better than a lower level model like JE-440?

    How about a test comparing Sharp's 24-bit ATRAC units against Sony's ATRAC Type-R units? My understanding is that Sharp's ATRAC codec was a little different than Sony's.

    Thanks. So I can do Sync CD recording and adjust recording level without the remote? For titling, I just put the disc into a NetMD and write the titles in using MD Simple Burner on my computer.

    I just want to be able to do Sync recording and adjust the recording volume. Can this be done without the remote?

    I'm starting to wonder if stationary Hi-MD recorders will record better than the portable Hi-MD recorders. Probably yes! Also, how necessary is the remote control for MD decks? I've noticed on ebay many decks don't come with the remote.

    Which stationary recorders have DSP Type-R? Or which of those is the cheapest? I'm guessing that CD->MD DSP Type-R copy (on stationary deck) will still not sound better than pre-recorded MDs.

    Ok, so that settles it! I think I need an MD recorder deck too. But now, can the human ear tell the difference between the portable and deck recordings?

    What is exactly is being compared here? Stationary MD recorder vs portable MD recorder?

    Oh, that's very interesting! So pre-recorded MDs from 1995 and after sound better than the CD->MD optical copy? I remember a moderator on this forum claimed that there was no difference in sound quality. Have any tests been done? I always figured that the master tapes converted to MiniDisc would sound better.

    While we wait for those results, how about another comparison: pre-recorded MiniDisc album vs CD->MD optical recording of the same album. Which would have better sound quality?

    I'm not sure I understand. I'm reallly not interested in doing 24-bit recordings. Just a regular CD->MD recording using optical cable. Which will sound better: using a Type-R record deck or Type-R portable recorder?

    How about just using a regular CD deck with optical output and connected to the portable Type-R recorder and then to the MD deck Type-R recorder. I do all my optical recordings from a CD recorder deck.

    I'm just curious, when doing CD -> MD optical recordings, which will produce better MD recordings: portable MD Type-R recorder or MD home deck Type-R recorder? I've heard the using MD decks can produce better recordings because of the available power for computing/encoding/compressing. If a bit is a bit (0 or 1), wouldn't the sound quality be the same no mattery which Type-R recorder you use? Thanks.

    Well, the buyer hasn't paid me yet. So this is still pending. If he doesn't pay, i'll relist as buy it now.
