  1. Yes but he spoke about what ? An analog recording from a LP compare to a CD of the same album ? I don't have LP here in Vietnam. Only Flac files downloaded from torrent files (last ones 24bit-96kHz recordings, Linn and Chesky records) or original CDs or CD burnt from Flac files. I record my MDs in real time from my computer with my MZ-N510 or with my JB980 deck. So, in what case exactly are your recordings better with an analog source ?
  2. On tapeheads.net forum a guy called R.Daneel should be sincerely and warmly welcome on this MD forum as MD specialist. Just have a look on his posts on this topic : http://www.tapeheads.net/showthread.php?t=7049 <<From my experience with minidisc technology, I can say I got better results when recording in standard Atrac format than in LPCM. There couls be many reasons for that - mentioned hardware designs, only 16bit resolution and the major differences in the decks used. There are no HI-MD high-end decks! there are many fantastic std-MD decks and a deck like Sony ES series will beat that Onkyo regardless of it's LPCM ability.>> Reading that, I ask myself if he is true. Does our good standard decks in SP mode sound better that an Onkyo Hi-MD deck even in LPCM mode ? Meaning that the quality of deck is everything, exactely like LP turntables or CD players... The Wizzzzzzzzzzzard is wanted... but essaye quand m

  4. - one MZ-R55 from Holland - one MZ-N710 from France - one MZ-NH700 from UK - two deck remotes - maybe my JA555ES repaired this time Perhaps more !
  5. For someone ready to put a little money for collector blanks http://cgi.ebay.fr/N...#ht_1004wt_1141
  6. If that fake MD disc thing ever existed, I think I have already noticed it as I live in Vietnam where chinese fakes are easy to find. It is true that some Sony or other MD brandnames could have been factoried in China. My new vietnamese MD ingeneer friend Pham Cu think so for the Sony Prism 2004 blank disc still available here for $1,2 one. I don't notice a difference in the final sound. I am so happy to pay that price, sadly all blanks have the same color.
  7. I have a grey MZ-RH1 bought in Vietnam but coming from japanese market. The menu are in english and I did not even notice a langage menu before. Sadly I cannot give you more help as it have joggel problems that do not allowed me to navigate easily in the menu again. That could be an answer to you though, english menu is included in asiatic MZ-RH1. I rode somewhere that the 3 lines remote have japanes characters capabilities, that does not mean the MZ-RH1 has japanese or chinese capabilities itself . Never bought anything from eBay Hong Kong myself. I am searching for a MZ-RH1 myself, but one with lens or inside mechanic problem so I can make a GOOD MZ-RH1 with 2 units.
  8. I agree with you, he said he is a maniac (neat freak) but as he didn't take a shoot of his deck, no one can check it.
  9. http://annonces.ebay.fr/viewad/Sony-MDS-JA333ES-Minidisc-Noir-/5037567750 for "connaisseurs" + serious offer only he said....
  10. Not me in a short while as I am living in Vietnam and I don't even know how to find 200 wine crocks. I drink beer! Maybe I need to imagine something based on bottles or cans of beer ? Or boxes of cigarettes (88mm x 55mm x 22mm) / matches ! Even cigars. Jesus I don't smoke too ! Design can look good with boxes of cigarettes. And interchangeable too ! All this will look like a Tetris game !
  11. Again that topic inspire me, exactly the same thing when The Wizzzzzzzzzzzard showed is wooden board. If you remember... And just talking about cork and board (not panel, board is the right word) make me think of vine cork board pictures on the web. So, knowing the diameter size of the vine cork (24mm in France, 26mm in Italy) and dimensions of a Minidisc box (77mm x 72mm x 7mm) that permit if the vine cork stand on his head Horizontaly : a box is exactly as large as 3 french vine cork, Verticaly (without pressure) : 3 MD = 21mm ~ 2mm less than 1 french vine cork / 10 MD = 70mm ~ 2mm less than 3 french vine cork, meaning every square of 3 x 3 french vine cork can hang 10 MD (I will get drunk easily at this count) Now, if you miss of vine corks, you can lie them horizontaly and verticly too. As for standing vine corks, all will depend on their size (49mm or 44mm). And I believe, that will not be as easily as the standing mode. Hips... Annndd mayyyybips the gentles MDsss are standing alone with viiiiine corkkkkkkoups with noooo gluuueee oups. Hips
  12. About that offer, how many broken ones do you have (list) ? I live in Vietnam, it is not so far from Australia for a cheap parcel.
  13. An idea. Find a big wooden panel in cork wood. On there you can easily fix your MD blanks between colored needles (I suppose than they will not fall after that, maybe there are L-needles that suited on the market?). And many pictures around a big MD logo. The MD logo can be printed on a white or black T-shirt... so you will had your hideous face, an old semi-headphones and any of your portable unit for a 3D effect !
  14. If I was good on digital art maybe I would thought about something like the onemilliondollarhomepage pachwork, based on https://picasaweb.go...inidisc.channel pictures and make your giant MD blank poster ! More simply, you can also make your own MD pictures USB key screen saver and connect it to your home-theater LCD screen. There are on the web very big size pictures of some famous unit. I don't know how much it will cost you to make a wood support (laminage in french) but here in Vietnal it is quit cheap. Even with white or black lacquer. Some guys have done some arts for you on the web :
  15. MD ! And these MDs are the massive majority of discs.
  16. Maybe more, I have foam at the mouth looking at the MD blanks !
  17. That mean JB940 and hight-end decks like JA333ES have an analog output at REAL 24bits rate But JB980 not ?? Is this something you know from reading only the specifications or from an electonic control ?
  18. The JB980 has "1-Bit Sigma-Delta ADC (24 bit sampling)", so I hope my recordings are really in 24bits - 44,1kHz (sadly not 96)...
  19. Yes but azteka ask how to have silence between tracks. Sure that wincue will create track marks this way (I use 2" myself and SP mode) but also create a silence.
  20. If you record from a digital source or often with analog source and if there is silence between tracks, there will be separate tracks. Then delete this silence afterall is not that simple... You can record from a computer using a player with a no-silence-between-tracks (continuous playing) setting. But, you will have perhaps most of tracks jointed in one big one. So then you just have to use your >> function and the tracks timing list to create your own T marks at the right place listening carefully your MD. There will not be a pause at these T marks. Finally you will be able to edit tracks name. Maybe somebody else has a secret potion to do it faster ?
  21. http://cgi.ebay.fr/Kenwood-RD-VH7-DM-VH7-Stereo-Amplifier-Tuner-Minidisc-/130555231048?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e65b2bb48#ht_2484wt_1150 Maybe the bookshelf is able to record MD at the 20bit - 44,1kHz rate with HDCD 20 bit Lin records ones. D/A converter is a 20bit one. As it has two S/PDIF toslink optical entries, a direct recording in real time with a computer playing 24bit-96kHz lossless files is easy (using a 24bit audio card and an optical out... + foobar2000, Winamp... + Asio4all, KS output... + my favorite DSP, DFX audio enhancer ) ! High Definition Compatible Digital http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Definition_Compatible_Digital "HDCD decoding can only be achieved whilst directly playing back HDCD-formatted disks" "There are no labels that record and release only HDCDs. Reference Recordings has produced many classical CDs in the HDCD format, which include new releases and have won numerous awards. Linn Records has a number of hybrid HDCD / SACDs, and also seem to enjoy a good reputation among music enthusiasts."
