You may not be impressed with the price, but I was offering my impressions based on having used the unit and being impressed with the build and sound quality. As I said in the review itself I'm not recommending everyone to buy this unit - it is expensive and you should make your own mind up.
-
That in a nutshell is what I do, although you explained in a lot clearer fashion The manual resize I onyl tried for adding art not taken with the unit to previously recorded discs (which didn't work). Yes SS will resize any cover art so that it displays correctly.
-
What I do is this. Rip cd's in SS. Organise my view in SS to be albums/playlists. Right click on each album and in the properties of the album only add the cover art. Transfer each album by clicking on the top-level album itself not the individual tracks. This should send across the albums as groups with the art assigned to each group.
-
Yes you can just drag n drop photos from the unit as you would any other digital camera. The MZ-Rh10 has been out in the US for a few months now the DH10P theorectially also launched around April / May I think.

Red is only available via the SonyStyle Japan store. Black is available in Japan and China, not sure about US though.

CDDB Update Patch: A Solution for Non-Working CDDB in MD Simple Burner
Richard replied to plugged in's topic in Software
After you have done the registration, refresh the disc by pressing the CD info button. Also right-click on the Simple Burner system tray icon, and go to CDDB => Windows Configuration. Is this grayed out? If not click on it and enter a username and password (to be used by the service). Does CDDB in Sonic Stage work? -
CDDB Update Patch: A Solution for Non-Working CDDB in MD Simple Burner
Richard replied to plugged in's topic in Software
Are you connecting through a proxy server - if so see the options in the SB app it self and fill in the appropriate address. The service is think is MD Simple Burner DB Access Service, but this shouldn't make any difference, as long as you can connect to the internet you should be ok. -
Kurisu - just noticed The Atraclife link in the top right is pointing to https://www.atraclife.com as opposed to http://www.atraclife.com The former brings up a link to Bhuddist audio teachings site or something.

I think as Ishii says you've only got the above 2 options to go with, which I'll say from experience is a minor annoyance as I had about 20 or so HI-MD discs encoded with other units before I got my DH10P and wanted to add the cover art after the fact. What I did try was this: Create the photo folder on the disc. Get my cover arts from various sources. Re-size them using an editing program to have the same dimensions as a cover art snapshot and save them as Jpeg's. Copy them to the unit. This allowed me to see & assign them as cover art, but if I remember correctly they didn't display correctly on the unit, they just showed up as an icon indicating a "broken link" type thing. I didn't dig much further than this and now as a rule generally download my album art from Discogs.com or Amazon then assign to the group in SS before transferring.

Nice, never seen these ones before - kind of like a variation on the "Ho" discs.

Sony Hi-MD Walkman MZ-NH1 Pictorial
Richard replied to Ishiyoshi's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
Another great pictorial Ishii, thanks! I'd never seen the gold trim on the RM-MC40ELK before, very nice. Also looking forward to the EH1 pictorial. Well done again. -
Well, I guess you haven't seen any of these HI-MD models - all top quality builds... mz-dh10p, mz-eh1, mz-nh1, mz-eh930, mz-nh3d Can't remember the eh1, but the rest are either all aluminum or magnesium casings.

Ok let's recap - uninstall as described here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071 Re-install from the original discs that came with your unit. Get on the internet and upgrade to 3.2 from the Sony Site or from one of the links in this thread: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9586 During all uninstall / re-install make sure the unit is not connected to your PC. This will work.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but won't the driver on this page work? I know it says Personal audio driver, but it is supposed to work with all NetMD devices? The CMT SE9 is not that an old a system either.

Can you or cant you record in true SP on new Hi-MD
Richard replied to watcher666's topic in Minidisc
None of the DH10P models have Mic In, Line In, Optical In, be they Euro, US, Chinese or Japanese models. I have the latter btw. The only connectivity is via USB. -
Can you or cant you record in true SP on new Hi-MD
Richard replied to watcher666's topic in Minidisc
They should know yes, but unfortunately the Sony USA pages (especially for DH10P) are wrong. You can't as far as I know, and will confirm for sure that on the DH10P you can't record from line in or optical in in any format as this is a download only unit. -
A lot more... most importantly unlimted uploads and no DRM for music transferred to your units. Also some new Atrac3 plus bitrates (but as yet only usable with HDD units / PSP and only 192kbps I think) see here for full details of what 3.2 inlcudes: http://www.sonydigital-link.com/DNA/SonicStage/SS32.asp?l=en

I know the staff here are working on fixing the stand-alone installer, but until that is done I fear you are stuck with 3.0 or whatever the version that was on your cd was.
-
I would make sure you have SP4 on both machines, but as I said the non-recognition of devices was a bug in the stand-alone installer posted in the downloads area of this site. The 3.2 version you installed on the home machine was not a Sony original cd right?
-
The non-recognition of HI-MD devices was a side-effect of the stand-alone installer only not of the internet installer versions of 3.2. For example, my laptop was originally installed with 2.1 (English) (which came with my NH900). This was then upgraded to 2.3, 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 via the internet and works fine with both my NH900 and DH10P. I have another machine which was a base install of 3.0J from the Cd that shipped with my DH10P and then upgraded to 3.2 via the Sony site and this also works fine with all my HI-MD units.
-
It will. Then upgrade to english 3.2 via Sony site. This should not give you any problems.
-
Or better still use the internet installer for your own language of SS3.2. I believe this workaround was only to fix problems of HI-MD units not being recognized after having used the MDCF stand-alone installer. So uninstall: Re-install orginal version from discs supplied with your unit Upgrade via Sony site to 3.2
