  1. A little bit of both. Ask some questions in the Live Recording forum if you're still having difficulty after obtaining the unit and various users will help you from there. I would also recommend searching, too.
  2. This thread is done. You can now upload faster than realtime with marcnet's utility. It can be found in the Hi-MD forum.
  3. I would suggest you do some more reading in this forum [specifically "Live Recording"], searching, and checking out websites such as reactivesounds.com, soundprofessionals.com, etc. Run some searches and you'll find what you need.
  4. It should be fine and all functions should work 100%.
  5. Have you tried Sonicstage 2? It probably would make your functionality a little more easier to use..
  6. Take care. I've posted your guide, and I hope that with time you'll be able to come back and contribute as you've done so in the past. You're insight and opinions have been very appreciated.. Good luck.
  7.   All the best for you, lass.
  8. Sure! Looking forward to it. If it's over 500 words, I can put it in our official review subforum.
  9. Yes. I would go with yes on this one. You may hear otherwise, however. Yes, but still a bit limited in the UK. Regardless, I would purchase blanks online, and I can guide you in the right direction if you give me your locale. Read the Hi-MD forum. Read the User Opinions forum. What's your maximum budget and where do you live?
  10. Welcome to the forums. Unfortunately, these discs are not compatible with Hi-MD units. I don't believe someone has tried it yet [and posted about it here], but the laser wavelength is completely different than what Hi-MD/MD employs and would probably be unreadable by the unit itself. There are also some other major differences in the specs that would cause error as well.
  11. I'm still hooked on that aforementioned website, Dex..alot of very keen recordings there. I really love the ones from various parts of Asia + India.
  12. Welcome to the forums. What's your maximum budget?
  13. Welcome to the forums. Why don't you take a look at the new Hi-MD models? I would suggest you look into the NH900. It's the perfect middleman model for newbies and recording enthusiasts. This model can be had @ datavis.com for only $239ish USD. As for microphone recommendations, please search, check out our friend Reactive Sounds and look in the Live Recording forum.

Welcome to the forums. Did they alleviate on what exactly was broken?
  15. Not without a deck AFAIK, and even then your success would be limited. Welcome to the forums, btw.
  16. Welcome to the forums, btw.
  17. nonono, when you uninstall everything [which I don't think you're doing correctly], just install Sonicstage 2.2 only. No 1.5. Where are you located, anyways? If you're in Europe, please download from www.connect-europe.com.
  18. Moving to correct subforum..
  19. Like KJ stated, minidisco.com audiocubes.com teamdigital.net bluetin.com + more.
  20. Agreed. You can get this at connect.com, Dias. btw, welcome to the forums!
  21. Welcome, alex. So you're 100% sure that you followed the EXACT directions according to this: 1. Uninstall all OpenMG related software via the Add/Remove Programs control panel and reboot as necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, OpenMG 2.2, related 'Limited Patches' and the 'Secure Module', SonicStage 1.x/2.x, Simple Burner 1.x/2.x, and software by RealNetworks. Make sure that you unplug your unit before doing so. 2. If you run Windows XP/Windows 2000 Professional, proceed to delete the following directories: "Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataSony Corporation", "Program FilesCommon FilesSony Shared", "Program FilesSony". [>>ed. note: require input of win9x/ME users about directories, someone please go bug "kurisu" about this until he forwards it over to me or he edits it himself - iceeedtea] 3. Start -> Run -> regedit. The 'Registry Editor' utility should appear on your screen. Delete the references to OpenMG located under 'HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareSony Corporation' and 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareSony Corporation' by right-clicking on the entries. 4. Disabling any anti-virus software that is running in the background to free up some resources [if necessary]. Update your installation of Windows at Microsoft Windows Update (windowsupdate.microsoft.com). For Windows 2000 Professional users, you are recommended to upgrade to Service Pack 3 or later. Make sure that your unit is disconnected and install the latest build of SonicStage 2.x from Sony Connect/Sony Connect Europe. The drivers for Sony units will automaticaly be installed. (If you use a Panasonic or Sharp Hi-MD/NetMD unit, install your drivers before you install the actual software!) Restart if prompted to do so; if not, it is still recommended that you do so. Plug in your unit, and start SonicStage 2.x. Please try it again.
