  1. That may help origami, but iisryan, what o/s are you using? If you're using XP, upgrade to service pack 2.
  2. Windows 2000 eh? Make sure you have the latest Windows Updates [i.e. service packs], but if you have this hotfix: KB840987, uninstall it.
  3. btw, did you look at the service manual? http://minidisc.org/manuals/sharp/service/mdsr50h.pdf
  4. Awesome report there, mrsoul! It's usually close to negligible; what kind of gumstick battery are you using on the NH900 and are you using the AA add-on pack?
  5. Also, if you do seek a used unit, what's the maximum budget?
  6. It's hard to tell, really, but I think it's just a loose headphone jack. I've seen this before with similar models, unfortunately. I know that you can order the part from Sony for a small fee, but unfortunately I can't recall the name of the part. Hrm, I do know of this site: servicesales.sel.sony.com/web/index.jsp ..but after a quick browse I didn't see what would help you. Maybe you should call that parts department, and ask for such..
  7. Welcome to the forums, Co-T. How to properly reinstall NetMD: WARNING: If you use a Sony VAIO with preinstalled software provided by Sony or use other software developed by Sony, do not follow the procedure below. 1. Uninstall all OpenMG related software via the Add/Remove Programs control panel and reboot as necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, OpenMG 2.2, related 'Limited Patches' and the 'Secure Module', SonicStage 1.x/2.x, Simple Burner 1.x/2.x, and software by RealNetworks. Make sure that you unplug your unit before doing so. 2. If you run Windows XP/Windows 2000 Professional, proceed to delete the following directories: "Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataSony Corporation", "Program FilesCommon FilesSony Shared", "Program FilesSony". 3. Start -> Run -> regedit. The 'Registry Editor' utility should appear on your screen. Delete the references to OpenMG located under 'HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareSony Corporation' and 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareSony Corporation' by right-clicking on the entries. 4. Disabling any anti-virus software that is running in the background to free up some resources [if necessary]. Update your installation of Windows at Microsoft Windows Update (windowsupdate.microsoft.com). For Windows 2000 Professional users, you are recommended to upgrade to Service Pack 3 or later. Make sure that your unit is disconnected and install the latest build of SonicStage 2.x from Sony Connect/Sony Connect Europe. The drivers for Sony units will automaticaly be installed. (If you use a Panasonic or Sharp Hi-MD/NetMD unit, install your drivers before you install the actual software!) Restart if prompted to do so; if not, it is still recommended that you do so. Plug in your unit, and start SonicStage 2.x. A Windows Hotfix (KB840987) conflicts with Omgjbox.exe - if you are experiencing problems and do not need the functionality of the Hotfix, rollback the fix.
  8. The only way I know how to do it, save some searching, is http://www.minidisc.org/sony_mzr_reset.html .
  9. Welcome to the forums. I've heard of this before. Unfortunately, you're only option is to get the unit serviced. Since the unit is as old as it is, you're probably better off investing in a new one as repair charges would be just about as comprable.
  10. Welcome to the forums. Yes, you need a deck with a digital out and a sound card with digital in, or you can do it in an analog scenario with a male-to-male stereo cable; one end plugged into the headphone out, the other end plugged into the mic in on the soundcard.
  11. Wow, this is very nice. What's the average battery life?
  12. The only thing you can employ at the moment is a device like the Xitel DG2, which can only transfer in real-time. You employ this with the appropriate drivers and have success. You could also try vmware with Simple Burner, maybe?
  13. Welcome to the forums. Does it occur to all of your discs?
  14. Try a different disc on your unit.
  15. Here is the most information I could find about this mic: http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/mo.../Product_ID/498 Hopefully this will help somone with your questions.
  16. Uninstall everything via the directions in the NetMD faq [backup saved oma/omg tracks if necessary], then install Sonicstage 2.2, uninstall Sonicstage 2.2 and leave the OpenMG bits.
  17. Ergh, I really need to tell people to back up in the future.
  18. Welcome to the forums. I believe that the battery is experiencing issues because of improper charging. I would suggest that you go ahead and buy a new one with a higher density and start anew. Look for a NH-14WM, 1450mAh battery. Here would be a good place to buy: http://www.bargaining4all.com/catalog/defa...lt.php?cPath=32 [also, that 1750mAh battery is fine, too] By employing such batteries you get more life out of your unit. I would also recommend you get an external charger for the battery as the unit isn't the most ideal place to charge in most situations. External chargers can be found on the aforementioned site or probably where you bought the unit initally.

  20. First off, thank you for spending the time to give me some recommendations. I really respect that, Kevin. I like this idea. I may move the Announcements section to Administrivia and keep the News at the top, however. Eric [webmaster] would probably prefer the news at the top as the board was created initally just to support whatever topics he posted on the main site with a discuss link. Obviously, we have matured past that point, so I'll keep it in mind when I do restructure. http://forums.minidisc.org/viewforum.php?f=66 This is a good idea. In fact, there is a modification you can make to phpbb forums that allows a "Staff" section with similar content. I will look into it. ------- Jade, I haven't ignored you but your request coincides with my answer to Cori's questions.. btw, Cori, thank you for taking the time to speak the truth and tell me what's up. I value your words. I agree with this wholeheartedly. In fact, I think that making a subforum within the Hi-MD forum, moving all the stickies in it and other FAQ's that we'll compose would be the best avenue.. Yes, I am aware of this, and unfortunately this will not end. This all begun when I had Eric change the Discuss link for the Hi-MD announcement on the front page of minidisc.org from the inital thread he started to the whole forum I created. An unfortunate side-effect, but like I've said, it keeps you busy, no? Fine with me. Aw, come on. :rasp:
  21. Mazuio, thank you for the links. I have changed your links to ones translated by babelfish so that people who speak English can somewhat understand it.

  23. Christopher

    Good news.

Woot, I want pics. I'm happy for you Cor; it didn't take long either.
