  1. Wow...Please keep informed...definitely interested if you're selling particularly the 707s.
  2. I have had this happen to me, just last night as a matter of fact. My Tascam would display "Record Error" and stop at the same location, twice, while trying to record something. I actually opened the shutter and used compressed air to blow out the disc housing and I also rotated the disc to make sure there was nothing on it. There was some dust/debris in the housing, and after I did that, there were no issues. How did you have them stored? besides the player being faulty, the discs could be damaged. Just my $.02
  3. There are a few of the B models on eBay right now, but the prices are, in a word, ridiculous.
  4. Could be the amp or perhaps a missing/broken/worn solder connection??
  5. Using a Tascam MD 350, I have noticed that it will not allow edits of disc formatted in SonicStage.
  6. Those are really excellent...Keep us updated! Would love to see the progress!!
  7. If I am remembering correctly, it has to do with a different coating on the disc itself. It really isn't a different "mechanism" so to speak. The normal colored discs from Sony say "SA Coating Advance" assuming Shock Absorbtion. I can only assume a better coating on the gold discs. Again...If I am remembering correctly.
  8. You can also set up SonicStage to delete converted files after transfer.
  9. Really? I have the tools. I just don't see how to do it in the SM. Can I just unscrew the bottom screws and release the back of the player to expose the battery compartment?
  10. I am soooo afraid to open these things because they mean a lot to me. I am really scared that I will end up busting it. Especially after looking at the service manual and for disassembly there is a note that says "remove solder. "
  11. Sorry. Bottom (back of battery compartment at the negative end.) most of the mess is at the top on the battery door hinge.
  12. Looks to be a small blot of green on the contact. I will probably not mess with any adjustments of my own at this point. I will clean it the best I can and see how it goes. If I still have an issue, both of my 900s will be going to Jim and the new one will be sacrificed for any parts needed for my original unit. I was able to get the plastic battery door off of the hinge assembly.
  13. Sargasso. Luckily it looks to be just a small blot of green on the bottom. And that is in the contact itself. It does not appear to have "seeped" anywhere like the battery door. Thanks all for the advice!
  14. That's the first thing I thought. Thinking more a cotton swab sprayed with the cleaner or alcohol.
  15. Oh, I know what you were getting at. Disappointing really to be one of those things that should be on the top of my list to check but did not. Thanks for the input.
  16. Any idea as to a liquid that might help? I had hear alcohol but wanted to see of anyone had had success with it
  17. Hello folks. Here we go again. I just purchase an NH900 from EBay, and with the exception of what looks like a power problem, it is in good shape. That being said, I had noticed that a fully charged battery was showing up as almost dead and the unit itself was not staying on very long when when charging. Long story short, it looks like some corrosion at the back end of the battery compartment and some that has seeped under the plastic covering the metal plate at the battery door. Have any of you folks had success with certain types of contact cleaning methods? Maybe a good way to clean up as much of the corrosion as possible? I had found another thread where someone linked another thread to it, but the link was dead. Thanks in advance...I really want this thing to work out and if I can get rid of this "little problem" all will be well.
  18. I just bought a second nh900 on eBay. I will use them till they die. Still baffles me that people settle for the way iPods and phones sound. eBay suggests there is still some market at least here in the US.
  19. Thank you Inquisitor I appreciate the information! I am hoping at some point soon to contact Jim Hoggarth (Hoping he really is "back") and do repairs on my primary unit so I might ask him about it then. I have used compressed air to blow out the unit and will be relying heavily on the Pause button and the remote. The mains charger doesn't bother me at all because I primarily use these at work when at my desk. Thanks again!
  20. Resurrecting an old one here, but I just purchased an NH900 from Ebay, The unit is in excellent shape and seems well cared for, but I am having a similar issue. Sometimes the stop button registers skip track, sometimes stop, and other times nothing at all. Were you ever able to get it fixed?
  21. Tonight I wanted to put some music onto a Hi-MD disc. Turns out I had duplicated one so I wanted to initialize (format it). I chose the initialize option, got the requisite "all data will be lost" message and I clicked ok. It took forever! What I didn't realize at the time was that it was transferring all of the music from the disc to my computer. Has anyone else seen this happen? Windows 7 Home Premium x64
  22. Mine and yours! After i bought mine, I was putting them with my "stash" and discovered instill had 12 TDK bit club discs, 5 colored Sonys and 5 Hi-MDs. Not complaining. And I am joking there will still be some available. Never can be too sure.
