  1. I need money quickly to cover an emergency expense, and thus I am offering my old RH1 for sale. The info: No remote. Battery holds charge just fine. Comes with original charger and USB cord. Lever is a bit stubborn, like it happens to all RH1s and needs to be pushed firmly to select the prior or next track. The unit has a small problem in which it will lose power as if the battery had been removed, but it only happens when it's held in a specific way. Other times, it works just fine. No dead spots on the display. It uploads, records and reads MDs just fine. Minor scuffs on the body, from normal use. Paypal Only. Will ship to Canada and some parts of Europe if you cover the shipping. Australia and Japan are okay. Other countries, please contact. Photos coming soon.
  2. The recovery partition is bad, so don't trouble yourself trying to restore from there anymore. The only solution I see is: see if there's an activation key on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop, write it down, get a Vista install disc that matches the type of OS you have, and reinstall from scratch. Good luck.

    Problem in LCD TV

How exactly has the display failed? More details would help.
  4. Though this is not the proper forum for it, I can tell you the Master Boot Record may have been damaged by either the backup or the virus. Your only option as of now is to reinstall fresh. Forget about VAIO Recovery, as it seldom ever works, in my experience.
  5. SFBP, I've seen myself in the need to use such a solution because some computers (even with an optical drive) are BIOS-locked to boot from an MBR on a hard drive alone. They won't try to boot from an optical drive even if it's visible to the BIOS. I had to do it with a VAIO and an ASUS, and worked. Yes, it's extreme, but so is LadyPatricia's situation.
  6. This is a solution that has worked for me, however, no guarantees are made, and no one is responsible for any damage if you try to follow.it, okay? All prior data will be lost by doing this. If you can take the hard drive out of the laptop, move it to another system with an optical drive, blank it, and try to install Windows 8 on it. REMAIN IN FRONT OF THAT COMPUTER WHILE WINDOWS INSTALLS AT ALL TIME. THE INSTALL WILL REBOOT AT SOME POINT AFTER COPYING FILES. THIS IS IMPORTANT. Once the computer with the optical drive goes dark, TURN IT OFF. DON'T LET THE WINDOWS BOOT ANIMATION APPEAR. Remove all power, and move the hard drive back to your ultrabook. Turn it on, and let setup continue. It should work without an optical drive, since the install program is being run from the hard disk. This will make Windows "wake up" on your laptop, and it will assume it was originally installed from there. Again, not responsible for any damages. Good luck. PS: See if your computer works with Windows 7, and get it. 8 blows hard, as you have just witnessed.
  7. I have one for sale, but it has some issues. (And no, it doesn't have an attitude or similar, no)
  8. Sounds like the board is fried, and not a software problem. Time to go to a computer repair shop, maybe.
  9. If the tracks were recorded as opposed to downloaded to the N1 via USB, the RH1 can upload as 256kbps ATRAC3+ or Wave.
  10. The NH900 is also a good option, and can work on both AA batteries and gumsticks.
  11. That's the vibe I got, too. Sonyfanboy, if you want to move the music FROM the MD TO the PC, it cannot be done, no matter what version of Sonicstage you have. You need the MZ RH1.
  12. Sescoscuba, please update this post with prices.
  13. Here's Sony India's page with the specs for a laptop with that model. The max memory is a total of 8 GB. http://www.sony.co.in/product/sve15113en It probably would work, unless it's one of those computers that lower the speed of the memory when the slots get filled to the max, but don't take my word for that last part.
  14. Hard drives are standardized. You should be able to put it in a laptop of another brand, provided you take it off the VAIO caddy and mount it on the new one's. You may need to blank the HDD and reinstall the OS, btw. Stay away from computers with motherboard overheating issues. I've Had to rePlace many a board due to defficient cooling.
  15. I think it's because of scarcity and limited release. Pretty much all the Hi-MD recorders have been released in the USA and Europe, but I've yet to see the EH series outside of Asia.
  16. Better yet, tell him to come and join the forum. We'll pay even better prices! (I'll pay double for the NH900!)
  17. Painless transaction with Paul, folks. Thanks so much for your business.
  18. I could use one or two extra discs.
  19. I have had some MDs that won't play on my RH1, yet would work flawlessly on my NH900. It seems it's the different types of laser pickups, some being better than others to resolve hard-to-read tracks on a disc.
  20. Here it is. As you can see it's pretty much new and fully working. It still has some of the new plastic smell on it. Click to enlarge, of course.
  21. 20 USD plus ship sound okay? I can post pics soon.
  22. I have a white RM MC38EL that works with the RH1.
  23. I am selling my backup RH1 because it's just sitting here unused. The unit comes with the original charger, battery and cables. No earphones or remote. There are some scuffs on the body and screen as result of normal use, and I can post closer pictures upon request. The lever requires firm pushes to move the track up or down, however, this issue is inherent to all RH1 units with time. (My regular RH1 does it as well). Most of the white dots on the picture are lint from the cloth I used to clean the body, not scuffs. The only issue is that sometimes the player will behave as if you had opened the door and re-read the disc table. This happens with only some of my discs, and by holding the player in a way that applies pressure to a certain point. It's not random, nor constant, but I want to be honest with you. If paying by Paypal, add 3% to cover the fees. Shipping based on your location, send your ZIP code for a quote. I will not rip you off with phony shipping and handling charges. The adapter is for USA voltage, 127 V. I have a white remote that works with it, if you're willing to buy it. Please PM with questions.
  24. And you neglected to tell us about them, because..?
