Backup tool? How come there is no mention of (prior to the restoring) removing the copy protection so those OMAs can be played anywhere? I do that religiously with every single little file I upload in non PCM format, then backup to DVD in both Non-DRM OMA and Flac. Backup tool... that's as arcane as a phonograph.
-
I may be interested in an NH700 or 800. Or even a 600 if it has inputs.
-
Make sure to convert that PCM to Wav, first. It's fully encrypted and DRM-ed fresh off SonicStage.
-
I guess it would depend on the price. With the Yen so strong VS the USD, it's a bit prohibitive for some.
-
Not to be a jerk, but if you could tell us just exactly what you're talking about, we'd be more than happy to know.

It is vaporware. I am sure that something better will show up before it becomes viable.

Whaaaaaaat?

Here's another big thumbs-up for the Saint Patron of MD preservation. I got from him a lovely R900 unit which looks just striking in silver, an extra remote, and one battery to boot, even when I didn't request it! Give this man your money, folks. He won't let you down.

Oh, it's a nice unit alright, G-FXER. Problem is I have one... and I got it used... along with an EH50... Mayhaps if you bundle it with a recorder? Nah... Good luck selling it, though.

I'll stick with HDD storage for now. 200 GB for 80 bucks (and that's not counting bargains) sounds more useful, and accessible than a BD-Burner. For now.

mz-nh 900 fails to record (or edit, 'write' anything)

Good to know you got your issue resolved, SlowMo. Don't hesitate to pick up an extra unit should yours start to exhibit that behavior again. -
H@><!!11!

Without having to install I-Tunes? Plug-and-play?

I am seriously thinking of building an emergency XP-based computer that I can tuck away safely, along with all my MD-Related gear, and a Post-Apocalypse-ready RH1. Once the media moguls have the population locked into their abusive DRM-schemes and proprietary audio formats that cannot be restored, I'll be more than glad to walk around the street with the "ONLY" portable and reliable digital audio player/recorder that allows unlimited transfers and uploads of digital audio. And then they will all lower their heads in shame and regret, at the sight of my HI-MD Recorder Of Justice.

Funny you should say that. I've tried to use an I-pod, and for all the "ease of use" the Apple Drones claim it has, I can't figure out how to use it since it's so over-simplified. I don't mean to sound insulting (well, actually I do ) but it's important to notice that Apple has built its products around the idea that its customers need help figuring out how to press a button.

That was two years ago. It's surely gone by now.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I wonder if the crippling of MP3 playback can be disabled as well.

I've been checking this thread twice a day for the past week, and I hope I can find something I like. Gotta make up for not making it to Black Friday. GO, G-FXR, GO!

To get back on topic... How about the messenger gets his facts right, so he doesn't get shot? Discontinued does not, NOT equal useless. Can you record on an Ipod, to be able to later upload and edit the way you can on a Hi-MD? Can you use it as a data drive? Can you restore music FROM the Ipod to the computer were your HDD to crash or be wiped? Can you build a library on an computer uploading the music from different I-Pods, with the same quality? Can you? Huh? Can you? Do you feel lucky, punk? Well? Do you? Do you?

Just a little shout out to jflaco1. Hope the black NH900 is serving you well. Thanks for your business and a pain-free transaction.
-
There's a reason why I have a Hi-MD player-only unit, and my RH1 and N900 are safely tucked away in storage.

I'd like to see more units that play MP3 *WITHOUT* the deliberate crippling we found in the second generation units , even if they are only downloaders. HD amp is optional, just no crippling.
