http://www.ebay.com/itm/131134006005?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I was thinking of getting it for the purpose of re-selling later, but the gash on the cover may seriously deter any potential buyers. If you care about functionality and not looks, this may be the unit you want. I've bought from this seller in the past, and had no problems. Just remember the unit is used and the RH1 eventually may develop a problem with the jog lever.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-MZ-NHF800-MiniDisc-Player-Recorder-/171257907643?pt=US_Personal_MiniDisc_Recorder&hash=item27dfc449bb Includes a remote, but you may need to ask the seller if it's the FM radio one. It's not a bad price, since the cradle is not required, and you can easily get a wall charger that works with it.

Thanks for the clarification.

The NH900 allows use of an AA battery with the side-car. And it sounds fantastic.

So, you'd be able to help as a middleman, Philippe? I ask because some of those units look terrific, and I want to have a non-MD backup music player. EDIT: I don't see the RH1. Edit 2: NVM. I see it. Computer was being a jerk.

Stuck converting ATRAC to 32bit vista PC (or mac)
Syrius replied to Multigrooves's topic in Minidisc
If you have the RH1, it will work. You just need the right version of Sonic Stage. (3.4, 4.0, or 4.3 may do). HOWEVER, Windows Vista may be the problem. I've never faced a more troublesome, obtuse and retardedly-coded OS. I can upload the installers for the Sonicstage versions listed above. Let me know. -
Vista is unfortunately a buggy and outdated OS. Video or audio driver problems were usually some of the common problems with it. My only suggestion would be to find the latest drivers from the manufacturer that are compatible with it (From the manufacturer, not the built-in upgrade function), or upgrade your OS to Windows 7. Good luck.

Another vote here for the Maxells. Have some that have been ticking for almost 15 years now, with no problems. Some Fuji brand discs started to develop pin holes and chipping on the magnetic layer in just about 4. Probably cheaply-made and simply bought by Fuji, and re-branded by them. Hope to hear soon from the repair project.

Boot from CD, unless the laptop is one of those thin ones without a CD drive.

We're going to need a bit more of information to help you better. First, what's the model of your MiniDisc? Second, can you record using the line in using other devices? Third, what's your OS? Have you enabled the Line-in as a recording device in the sound control panel? (Screenshots may help)

Sorry for not replying, I was busy with work and other things. No line in, sorry.

Used, working. Can control a compatible CD changer. This unit doesn't do LP, just old SP-style MDs, detachable face, preamp for Sub-woofer. In box. Shipping based on your location. Will ship to Canada. Other countries, ask first. Asking 50 USD. Payment by Paypal. Thanks.

Not my auction. I've heard good things about this seller around the forum, and decided to buy a replacement before my RH1's dies. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230822936084&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:3160 I wonder what are we going to do when no more are available. Anyone been able to build an external battery box for the RH1?

I guess the best option is to get one of those USB Wireless adapters. The software is pointless if the hardware is broken.

Here's the manual straight from Sony's site. Unless it's the same that came with your unit, this should do it. http://esupport.sony...als#/manualsTab
-
Sorry for being so direct but... Could you please turn off the caps lock? It's not helping anything. Second. What do you want us to help you with? You realize we have no power over Sony, right?
-
What's the OS you're trying to install, and the brand of the hard drive? Can you get the HDD out of the computer?
-
I hate to sound so curt, but since the laptop is brand new, wouldn't Sony or the store that sold it to you be better qualified to answer your question? Or even the manual may explain how to set the different brightness options for each different power configuration?

Hey. I have a complete EH-50 with some cosmetic flaws. The rechargeable battery is new, still in its pack. (Not Sony-brand, though).I also have an incomplete EH-70 that I may let go for less. forums.sonyinsider.com/topic/27283-fs-mz-eh50-hi-md-player/ The cool thing is that it will also play HI-MD discs, and has features the premium recorders have, without the extra price. If you get yourself an entry-level HI-MD downloader or recorder later, you're set with all formats. Please let me know, as it's just sitting here unused.

I have for sale a HI-MD player unit, EH50. This unit is not record- or download- capable, player only. Why would you want a unit like this? Simple. It features several of the features of the premium Hi-MD recorders, at a fraction of the price. No need to carry and risk losing your precious RH1, NH1, NH900 or RH10 on your daily commute. This unit features the fabled Sony HI-MD amp, which gives you powerful, rich sound, and Equalizer options. With a pair of isolation earphones, you'll be in Hi-MD heaven. It's the exact same circuitry found on the high-end units, and sounds just the same. Includes sealed remote and Earphones, charging cradle and adapter, AA battery side car, one gumstick battery, and one new carrying case. The unit has some scuffs on the front and wear on the Sony emblem and buttons, but performs and sounds flawlessly. 100 dollars with free flat rate shipping within the USA sound okay? I can ship to other parts of the world, but of course price will vary accordingly. PM if you are interested. If paying through Paypal, please add 3 percent to cover their fees.

Daaaaaayum! I'd get it if not because I already have one. Killer deal!
-
Do you need a player-only unit, or a recorder/downloader?
-
How do we know those are good, and not fakes that die within a week?
-
And where could one get a non-crap, generic replacement that doesn't suck? My RH1's battery is starting to lose its charge quickly.

It is the same unit that I sold him, as far as I know. We both are members of another forum, and I had no problems dealing with him. That is my picture all right; and unless the unit had suffered any damages between the time he got it from me and now, it should be in good condition.
