I am seriously thinking of building an emergency XP-based computer that I can tuck away safely, along with all my MD-Related gear, and a Post-Apocalypse-ready RH1. Once the media moguls have the population locked into their abusive DRM-schemes and proprietary audio formats that cannot be restored, I'll be more than glad to walk around the street with the "ONLY" portable and reliable digital audio player/recorder that allows unlimited transfers and uploads of digital audio. And then they will all lower their heads in shame and regret, at the sight of my HI-MD Recorder Of Justice.

Funny you should say that. I've tried to use an I-pod, and for all the "ease of use" the Apple Drones claim it has, I can't figure out how to use it since it's so over-simplified. I don't mean to sound insulting (well, actually I do ) but it's important to notice that Apple has built its products around the idea that its customers need help figuring out how to press a button.

That was two years ago. It's surely gone by now.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
-
I wonder if the crippling of MP3 playback can be disabled as well.
-
I've been checking this thread twice a day for the past week, and I hope I can find something I like. Gotta make up for not making it to Black Friday. GO, G-FXR, GO!

To get back on topic... How about the messenger gets his facts right, so he doesn't get shot? Discontinued does not, NOT equal useless. Can you record on an Ipod, to be able to later upload and edit the way you can on a Hi-MD? Can you use it as a data drive? Can you restore music FROM the Ipod to the computer were your HDD to crash or be wiped? Can you build a library on an computer uploading the music from different I-Pods, with the same quality? Can you? Huh? Can you? Do you feel lucky, punk? Well? Do you? Do you?

Just a little shout out to jflaco1. Hope the black NH900 is serving you well. Thanks for your business and a pain-free transaction.
-
There's a reason why I have a Hi-MD player-only unit, and my RH1 and N900 are safely tucked away in storage.
-
I'd like to see more units that play MP3 *WITHOUT* the deliberate crippling we found in the second generation units , even if they are only downloaders. HD amp is optional, just no crippling.
-
I have an R37 available, but has a small caveat. Interested?
-
I anxiously await the reopening of this thread.
-
Backlit LCD display on the unit, but non-OLED.
-
Have you tried another unit? Hi-MDs can read some discs that my R37 cannot.
-
Thanks for the pics, G-FXER. I have a stupid question. I notice the MCMD-R1 has a USB cord. Will this unit, by any chance, be able to create an audio Hi-MD while connected to Sonicstage, since it obviously has a write head? Please let me know. Also, I *may* (may) get that SM-MJ55 unit for a friend's X-mas present...
-
Um... what questions?
-
Before you buy that expensive unit, take a look. Even the humblest Hi-MD recorder can do all this, provided it has the right inputs:
-
I guess this also explains why Sony and others abandoned this load/eject system on subsequent units.
-
Remember how black people were forced to live outside of town, at the beginning of the 20th century? Well, that's how Sony Japan sees us Americans and Euros. Yet they have no problem receiving our dollar and euro bills.
-
Or you can ask anyone with an RH1 to upload those files for you, and send them back, discs and tracks, free of DRM. (Of course, compensation is up to you.)
-
PICS!
-
Any HI-MD unit will play (and most will record) old-style MDs. To upload old-style MDs, though, you need the RH1. It's the only unit that can do it. Where are you located? I may be able to help if you send me your discs, I upload them to my computer and send you the discs plus the uploaded files back, minus the DRM.

Guys, it's a spambot.

Thanks, you two. It means a lot to me, given the effort it took. The original video looks and sounds much better, being encoded on DIVX. Available for download upon request.
