  1. Yea I was actually looking for a player only as well. Shame. Still the NH1 is such a bargain it's hard to pass up.
  2. I'm in the US, but I ordered it almost two weeks ago and think I was in the first batch of resends without the battery. I guess the battery will arrive this week sometime. NH1 batteries are around $40-50 USD from AudioCubes. I already own an NH1 so I just used one of my spares to test everything.
  3. Received my NH1 yesterday sans battery. Everything was in perfect working order. This was seriously a great deal. Thanks Sefu!
  4. I just use a tape adapter from Radio Shack to connect my RH10 to the stock stereo in my Eclipse. Sound quality isn't perfect, but at speed road noise drowns out any hopes for quality non-deafening sound anyway.
  5. Hmm. Let's see. Bought a whole bunch of supplies for making custom headphone cables as well as a few microphone caps a couple weeks back to make a set of binaurals. Bought a whole bunch of engine parts to rebuild my rotary, along with all the balancing and machining of said parts, shooting for 9000 RPM redline. Bought a motorized digital focuser for my telescope from JMI. Bought another NH1 for a christmas present for my sister. Music. Headphones. My wallet is in pain, but what the hell, you can't take the money with you when you're dead!
  6. You may also want to checkout head-fi.org's DIY forum. There's a wealth of good information there on recabling and general repair, usually with pictorials.
  7. So does this mean orders that have already been dispatched last week and have a tracking number from EMS are going to be held up?
  8. This is very true. In the past couple of weeks I've been identifying more and more CD's with flaws. Usually I'll listen with 352kbps and hear flaws then get worried something is going wrong with my headphones/head-amp/MD gear only to find that the original CD has the same flaw on a completely separate set of gear. It's the curse of buying better components. Yes, it sounds better, but it also makes revealing flaws much easier.
  9. In Atrac3plus 352kbps 1. Extraordinary Machine 2. Get Him Back 3. O' Sailor 4. Better Version of Me 5. Tymps (The Sick in the Head Song) 6. Parting Gift 7. Window 8. Oh Well 9. Please Please Please 10. Red Red Red 11. Not About Love 12. Waltz (Better Than Fine)
  10. There's a Sony Style store in NYC. 550 Madison Avenue. Try googling for a store near you. I believe there are 20 or so in the states.
  11. Yea, etronics is great, they're my first source for electronics now. It's also nice that they're located in New York so even ground shipping becomes 1-day to New Jersey
  12. I purchased mine from etronics.com for about $360 a few weeks ago.
  13. Ishiyoshi may be able to speak to this. I believe he has or had a pair of A900's. I'm done with buying headphones for now
  14. Hmm when I imported a wave file directly it didn't ask me if I wanted high quality or not. I specifically looked through the menus for the high/low quality option. Guess this only on CD rips. edit: Anyone else finding 352kbps noticeably better than 256kbps?
  15. I wonder if Atrac3plus 352kbps was originally engineered into the units and just never released externally for whatever reason. It's either that or they're doing some strange voodoo to get it to play on the existing units. Either way it's a pretty cool option. PS: If you download the web installer from Sony directly they have a small survey at the bottom of the page asking whether the page was valuable to you. If you click an option and submit it will bring up another window for comments. I suggest all Hi-MD users leave some sort of comment (positive preferrably) about how this and the 3.2 specifically enhanced their Hi-MD experience. The more voice we bring to Sony the better the chance of them actually hearing us
  16. Depends on the headphone, but yes, burn in time definitely makes a difference in sound reproduction. The actual sound production is a mechanical system so with use components will settle into an equilibrium.
  17. What model Sennheiser. It's possible the amp in the NH1 just doesn't have enough punch to drive the phones well.
  18. How long were these burned in before you did your listening tests?
  19. It's very good. I heard one of the songs on NPR and bought the album based off of that. There's a plethora of instruments and it's a very clear recording. I have the first Silk Road Ensemble CD as well, but I like this one more.
  20. What they need to do is use this stuff for screens: http://aimpoints.hq.af.mil/display.cfm?id=7223&printer=yes
