  1. fair enough but shouldnt a CDs error correction generally only come into play when: A) the laser looses track there's a scratch on the disc C) there's a read error Because the CD correction code is basically placing the same audio data on the disc twice (more or less) in case it missed it the first time around So in theory if your using a very well premastered disc it shouldnt even need to fall into the correction code correct? (this is of course before the player would even need to start ignoring it)
  2. it should work as long as you dont use a USB hub to connect both the HiMD and the USB drive. something confuses me though. Most USB jumpdrives only hold between 128MB-1GB wont it end up being more work for you to do it this way in the long run? also why dont you just continue to use Simple Burner unless you wish to retain your LP2 transferring abilities?
  3. heh you sure you're not the cause of all this random skipping?
  4. click above the Transfer button in the little box surrounding the output source. it should then open up other options. If creating a CD doesnt appear it means either SonicStage cannot recognize your CD Burner, Windows cannot recognize it, or its not connected properly. Try updating the drives' drivers and see if that makes a difference.
  5. ouch! $700-800 US =~ $1120-1280 CND on a bad day
  6. once again punishing people who actually buy their CDs although its odd that your DVD has problems with it. By chance is it a cheaper DVD player because the only time the copyprotection should make a CD have difficulties playing is when the CD player is software driven. If the DVD player is on the cheaper end it might not actually have a CD decoding chip instead opting for a software version (although i highly doubt CD decoder chips cost that much anymore)
  7. ya then you should have unlimted transfers from the best original source available pure PCM

could have been an error at the factory while formatting there
  9. Welcome to the forum! SonicStage allows for unlimited PC-MD transfers from CDs or MP3s placed into the Library. The only time when this might change would be if you purchased a song from Sony's online music store or if you transfered your own recording from MD to My Library (not sure about the 2nd one). However with recording your own stuff, if you use Sonys WAV Converter you could just reimport the WAV into My Library and have unlimited more transfers if you wished.
  10. yes and the fact that depending on the encoder the MP3 might have extra dummy data surrounding the actual audio data
  11. the 600 is perfect for someone that wants a HiMD purely for listening to music on the go great battery playback time good amount of songs plays back old MD discs as well (premastered and such) small as can be
  12. do a search on the forums for a complete OpenMG/SonicStage/Simple Burner uninstall. Then run virus/spyware software to make sure your computer's in good working order. then try reinstalling the software
  13. any word on the price of these units?
  14. the easiest way would be to record the discs in order you wish them to playback in. A group is basically a folder that contains music. You cannot have sub-folders however. Every new CD that is recorded via Simple Burner will be placed in its own Folder labeled with the CD title. If you wish the CDs to remain seperated into groups (like they are in CD form) no extra editing is needed. However you do have the option to drag each song into the same group and then just have one massive LOTR group
  15. actually what they say is Atrac3+ 64kbps sounds close to MP3 128kbps and that 256 is again 'near CD' quality. they never even boast about 48kbps except to say how much you could fit on a disc using it and that it sounds better than MP3 or WMA at 48kbps
  16. Its well known that SS only transfers 'fake' Atrac to the recorder in Stero Mode However out of curiocity which of the following do you think would produce better quality sound? -Using SS fake mode -Recording the song via Analogue Line In do u lose anywhere close to the amount you do in SS with an analogue connection?
  17. nope dont have that problem on my NH700
  18. i dunno, out of curiocity what version of SonicStage came with your unit
  19. i might be able to help with the pics but i got nowhere to host them currently
  20. right and if you cant really tell the difference (your deff lol jk) or you dont mind HiLP stick with the lower end as youll fit more on the disc.
  21. today alone i have done extensive recording with my NH700 and this is what i know -TrackMark (for the NH700) when set to ON only allows you to set marks in predefined time intervals (i.e. 1min-30min) -SYNC recording (even through non-optical line in) will cause the player to place a TrackMark in a 2sec of scilence. If the source is optical then the information is also being passed along to the recorder and thus the 2sec scilence rule should not apply, it should already know when to place the track If you turn TrackMark OFF and SYNC OFF it *should* not auto-place trackmarks for you, at least it doesnt for me
  22. As long as Navi play is set to Normal it will shuffle all the songs. If you have it set to Group/Artist/Album it'll shuffle songs only in those selected options
  23. true dat, which is an incredibly stupid idea
  24. ive had this window pop up for me before but i just closed it reopened SS and it all worked out anyways
