just wanted to share a little, but it takes forever, i mean like forever to get that perfect equalizer setting, when you thought you got it, you just came up with another setting. oh anyways go for it! you won't regret it, although the new Sony flash players are quite appealing...
-
can't wait to get one, as soon as they get all the problems discovered and fixed and of course when its cheaper. gonna install Linux on it for sure. ps i wonder if history would repeat itself, meaning in the later years if they will release a slim and "improved" version of the ps3, much like they did with the psone and playstation 2 "slim".
-
Wow, thats quite serious.

Have you guys recently been to Sony's website? I just found out that they had some flash players with coloured oled, and I thought that they were pretty cool. Wonder how they would sound compared to md players, they claim to have "clear bass" tech and also come with some noise-canceling headphones. Should I get one? This could be my kick-around player that I have been looking for, or should i rather pick up an EH70. Anyways just thought that I might share something. ps. I would really, really, like a new md unit with coloured oled, buy it in a heartbeat. Edit: a thousand apologies, how would you know what im talking about without without any mention of a model or series number. Heres a link instead http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/servlet/C...tionPath=n46881

Ok, so I finally found some time to call Sony Support. And i get this rep who can't even speak english. And then after asking a bunch of my personal info she finally gets to it, and tells me "did you connect the cable while charging?" I told her yes a bit agitated that she had just insulted me, and then she types some more into her computer giving me text book answers which i can find in my manual. Later she asks me the same question on 5 separate occasions "is the cable properly secured?" I keep telling her yes and explained to her that the cable must be attached securely in order for it to even say "Low Battery" so it means it is sensing a cable being attached, otherwise it would stay off and dispaly nothing. And then she gives me a bs answer, pardon my french, that she didn't hear me. And when i demanded a proper explanation she gave me the good-old "you have to send it to Sony to get it replaced, the shipping is not covered.......do you want me to process it now?" in my mind i was thinking no way, thank you very much i'll be hanging up now, and i did. Anyways i never knew Sony's customer service would sink that low. Anybody else had a difficult time talking to Customer Support?

What does linear exactly mean in "Linear PCM Recording"? Is that considered good or bad?

I know a few people don't like the ps3 but im confident this community is mature enough to discuss about it without flaming. That being said, I have a question about it, and was wondering if anyone can conjure up an answer for me. I just visited IGN and they were saying how the ps3 can handle only about 6 websites open and 3 graphic intense website before having the memory being full, what puzzles me is isn't the ps3 supposed to be sort of a super computer of its own? I mean my computer has less ram then the ps3 but i don't have to worry about how many websites i can open at once. I can't comprehend why it would have problems openning more then 6 webpages. Of course if i got it wrong do correct me. Here are some link(s) to help save time: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/745/745300p1.html

Can you like, not shout? It has already been around for awhile.
-
Hmm, doesn't work. Believe it or not, but i think you need the remote to be plugged in for the charging process to begin. Thats how i got it to work these days, im definitely gonna give Sony a call soon.

I found a nice one in a box marked "Hi-MD Walkman". you could probably just use any case that fits the profile of your MD unit.
-
wow bummer, if the battery is all good, then it should be the connections to the battery that are at fault. Also try cleaning the ends of the connections on the battery with rubbing alcohol.

my oldest sister just bought me a new game! haha, i sound like a little kid. it's Final Fantasy XII the newest one IIRC it just came out not long ago. Got the standard edition instead of the collectors editions because we thought it wasn't worth the money. any other gamers out there?

i can say that shuffle works beautifully for me, i haven't heard the same song more than once through my entire session. and i am confused, do you already own a RH1 or are you planning to buy one? or did you just recently get it?
-
Also most of the frequently asked questions can be answered by reading the manual that comes with the RH1. If not i like to fiddle around with it and get comfortable with it, to me this is the best way to go, trial and error, you learn a lot too. Anyways happy listening or recording with your RH1.
-
I don't know how I could have possibly made that mistake, I stand corrected. I guess when I think of MD i still think of netmd and even the older ones...... i still want the N10, soooo nice. Oh, also for the two remotes i recommended, if you want the mc38el, i would rather get the mc35elk, it has support for kanji characters. Anyone know if the mc40el also have kanji support?
-
I second that, or they could significantly lower the prices on LIP-4WM's. The RH1 has weak battery usage time, I remember the days when MD players/recorders had awesome battery life, where'd that go?
-
There is no backlight of any sort for all the Hi-MD units except for the RH1 which still doesn't use backlight but is visible in the dark, you get what I mean. The only reasonable solution would be to get a super sleek remote of your choice, either a RM-MC38EL or a RM-MC40EL. Both are good remotes but I would get the mc40el for future uses.

Sorry to bring this up again, but today is the second time in a row that my RH1 refused to charge properly. The exact same thing happened as described above, but this time instead of heating up the battery because it was cold on that day, today its not so I just took it out, inspected it, didn't know what to look for, popped it back in, didn't work, plugged in the remote, then it finally started charging. Now what troubles me is that I spent over $400 on the RH1, and one would expect for it to be more reliable at such a heavy price. Doesn't anybody else have this problem? Oh, and yes the battery is new and so is the unit. Any help or insight would be appreciated. - Sparda ps My point is that the remote being plugged or unplugged shouldn't matter at all! After it started charging, I unplugged the remote.

Hi-SP for most people sounds the same as PCM. Hi-LP most people can hear a difference if you listen carefully. Also if the source sounds like crap there is no point in using a high bitrate, garbage in garbage out. I for one use 356 and Hi-SP. For crappy sources I use the lower bitrates. I carry around a few more discs but thats no problem.

Thanks for the generous help guys. I think I might get one through pricejapan.com... The EH70 is so beautiful!
-
I realize i am slow in the head, but why is it we don't see very many EH70 and EH50's lying around? Are they limited edition? I would love to buy a EH70 as i realize my RH1 is receiving more and more wear and tear everyday. The EH70 could be my ideal kick-it-around unit, if you know what i mean. Any info on how and where to obtain one? Really appreciate any replies. - Sparda

wow your parents tried hiding them? *tsk* *tsk* If i think about it i have another story. When i just got my RH1 the screen had some crap on it so i took the felt pouch and kept rubbing the oled screen until i realized i was scratching it. After like a week the mark that i couldn't get off just dissapeared, so if i had waited, the screen wouldn't have millions of streaks. Isn't there anything that can add a layer onto the screen to fill in the scratches?
-
wow, you actually had the nerve to disassemble it!? Gotta say it looks nice, and the black matches the body, wish they did it like that from the beginning.
-
Man I didn't think eventually this would happen to me too, but my RH1 is refusing to recharge. When i plug in the usb cable (which one end is connected to the ac adapter) to my RH1 all it says is "low battery" then it goes away and wouldn't go into charging mode which normally displays how much time is left. As if i didn't already know the battery is low.... I feel very sad that it is already not working well. Heh, any suggestions? ps, my RH1 is about 1 1/2 months old, bought brand new, the battery is the same one that came with it, and i also handle and treat it as if my life depended on it. Hey, what do you know, after heating it up a little its now charging! But the funny thing is that the manual says that if its too hot or cold it should say "CHARGE" but all it said was "low battery", I guess it's still worth it to try.
