  1. Is THAT the exact box culp4684 was talking about?? and can anyone PLEASE post a PIC of how it looks with MDs in it?? That would help so much! Thanks.
  2. I need to let go of one of my backup units to help me buy an MD player. This 40GB Vaio is the ultimate HD-based ATRAC portable and now allows MP3 playback via the current firmware update. Here is my review of this player with pros & cons listed and lots of photographs. This is barely used in mint condition and comes with everything in its original box (special Vaio software for mp3 transfers, REMOTE, docking cradle, USB cable, power adaptor, earbuds and manual). Asking $175 SHIPPED in the US (plus $15 worldwide), OR if you have a similar condition HiMD player that I'd like I may be interested to swap for it. PM me your interests and offers, thanks. Paypal payments only, if you live in the USA money order will be accepted, Paypal preferred. My feedback history is here, or you can ask about my Ebay rating Thanks! A few pics below of my current player to show how it looks with music on it - note a screen protector is on mine:
  3. Ok, fine, bad analogy... at least Apple didn't DITCH their own codec!
  4. LOL!! While I agree with you, Sony certainly doesn't "OWE" us ANYTHING. You seem to forget that they are not very market-focused other than trying to make money at the EXPENSE of us. Do you see Sony sending $100 to all the 'suckers' who bought ATRAC walkmans this year like Apple did for the phones?
  5. Ok, this is weird... Today I was about to go through my SS library and weed out all the material that is now dead (originating from an MD rip) since I did my backup restore.... and they're all ok now!!. Its as if Sonic Stage needed some TIME or something to recognize them?? Maybe a few reboots? NO IDEA. Freaky... but then, we are talking Sonic Stage
  6. Ya well I own 3 and the 4th one I bought mainly to sell to my bro or a nephew.... part of the conversion process.... sad thing is, I'm the one who got BOTH of them into MD just within this past year, and now I turn away from that and want them to join me w/ a Vaio But they both are interested so it will come down to who has the funds.... so I consider myself as owning 3, even though I have 4 in my home. I have 3 cradles out, but still only use the 1st unit I got. Great to hear from you Ray 'z Ray!! yeah, this is like a reunion.
  7. Awesome to hear man... and since I have 3 backups... I don't think the death thing will be what will part me from the VP.
  8. Thanks buddy -- sorry I've dissed the board AND you. I'll try to come back once its up again. Sector, I cannot describe my joy with the Vaio... being so content may very well be why I haven't been on the T-Board. I mean, in the past I was always looking for the NEXT unit, while posting pics of my CURRENT unit, and so on... well, not many people care to hear about the Vaio, and I'm really done searching. I've found my player (at least for the next 1-2 years - lol). So yes, I love my Vaio Pocket.
  9. That is VERY helpful. Thanks, I'll avoid that for sure!
  10. I owned the 105fx for a while myself, but then sold it. Basically I let go of the MD format. However, I totally recommend the deck. (RobShaz's review certainly influenced me as well). I did have the character screen issue, and that was very annoying... but at the time I didn't seek out any threads on the issue and how to work around it, plus I already had a library of like 200+ MDs and didn't feel like re-making them for the sake of the deck. I bought the deck as an investment for the format, and, I'll confess, just for having the thrill of poppin in an MD into a slot by my home stereo system... well that thrill was short-lived, and so the deck now has a new home. Sturdy, heavy product though - worth the $$$.
  11. "non-yellowness" lol - nice. Anyone at the T-board miss me?? I've been a ghost.
  12. I'm curious... would there be any advantage to me using this program over Sonic Stage if my music sources are CDs?? I mean, I like ATRAC coding more than mp3, and it seems that it "encodes" .wav files, so I'm assuming they become ATRAC files anyway?? How would this work in combination with existing files/albums on a player... can you drag-and-drop an entire FILE of music and ascribe an album art icon to it?? Thanks.
  13. Sorry, I know I had a thread about using Sonic Stage's backup routine, but I have to throw this question out by itself... Ok, I have a huge library on my computer now in Sonic Stage... I ran the backup utility as well as a manual copy+paste backup (which actually doesn't disguise the file folders into numbers) and was pleased to find the backup utility SAVED THE ALBUM ART! Wahoo... however, now it seems that ANY track that I had originally ripped from MINIDISC (who's original source was actually CD) is no longer "licensed"... so they don't work. So does this mean if you delete your content, run the restore, Sonic Stage will ONLY allow material that was directly ripped from CD to work??!! This is quite a shame, as in some 60% of my material was pulled out of my vast MD library because it was more convenient to rip from MD since they were well organized and were already in the desired bitrate, etc...
  14. Hey, I downloaded the ATRAC plugin to be able to open & edit ATRAC files in an audio editor such as Sound Forge... well, it worked fine when I did it at first... now suddenly Sound Forge says the files are unrecognizable formats, and they won't open I've rebooted, made sure the plugins were in like every folder possible (as per instructions)... no dice. Help?
  15. I actually like Sonic Stage. And are you basing the volume output on a stereo connection or using headphones?... I know that my canalphones require much less juice than some cans would... so the volume level for me is no problem. Until Sony comes out with a 40 or more gig ATRAC player w/ color album art LCD, I'm sticking with this baby.
  16. I'm so relieved Not so much because I use Connect frequently... but I like to know it's there, if you know what I mean.
  17. That thread was nice to read - thanks Ishiyoshi I suppose my new thread is still relevant because I'm curious who is STILL using the Vaio, since the DAP market changes drastically each year. The concept of having album art, for example, is a standard now, etc. Anyway... I do love my Vaio(s)!!
  18. You can set an alarm clock on this thing??
  19. Hello folks. I'm relatively new here at the ATRACLife forum (soon to be AACLife?)... anyway, I left minidisc behind for ATRAC-based Sonys, and am just so thrilled with the Vaio Pocket. I'm curious how many hear own this unit. Feel free to just shout in "I have one" or even better share your love for it I think we could get an interesting discussion on this unit.
  20. umm... 2 questions: 1) Do you think Media Manager will play ATRAC files? 2) Is there no ALBUM ART in the music section?? I didn't see any in the pic.
  21. The one thing Connect always had over iTunes for me was how you could sample a track, AND surf to other pages and the music does not get interrupted!! Like the player was independent. iTunes will suddenly CUT OFF the current track you are sampling when you click to the right or left in your browsing.
