  1. I am interested Hudson. I have not been able to find a reputable source for one outside of the UK and most places won't ship to the US. Do you know for sure if the security code can be reset so it will work?
  2. Ari, I agree with your assessment, it is not unusual or surprising that the battery would be limited in that way. They great thing about the N10 is that you can bolt on a side car with a fresh AA battery and run for 30 hours! Anyone seriously interested in this model is aware of the internal battery issues.
  3. This just amazes me on eBay: MZ-R910 Is this person serious?
  4. Hey Ari, I think your plan to test the battery sounds reasonable. Please do post your link once you list the unit, I hope you do well on the sale!
  5. Free VirtualBox and an old copy of 32 bit Windows XP would run Sonic Stage like a charm on your Mac. You could go back to Mountain Lion. I was running Leopard on my Macbook Pro with XP in a Fusion container. SonicStage ran great in that as well. Fusion will cost you $100 US, VirtualBox is free and there is a Mac version. You can pick up a valid copy of Windows XP on eBay for pretty cheap.
  6. Very nice KJ, glad to see it arrived as expected!
  7. I think Sergio is right, that sale ended up with a huge profit for the seller but this is not typical. I bought mine used about two years ago from a mate here on the boards and at the time I paid $180 USD. I had to immediately replace the battery as the 8 year old unit would only hold a charge for an hour or so. It actually still functions well today. Very nice little player only unit, no doubt one of the coolest Sony made in my opinion. Be honest about the battery when you list it, most serious buyers for this unit will know the details of the design and understand that the small, non-user replaceable LiON battery has a shelf life of around 5 or six years. May I also suggest that you try to get a few nicely lit focused photos of the unit? The aesthetics of this cool little machine will go a long way to stir up interest in buyers, that can't be appreciated with grainy, out of focus pictures ... Let us know when you list it, I'd be interested in watching it to see what you fetch! One other thought I had is that it seems like the market driven sales always do better and the idea is to sell the unit, too many greedy folks will list a unit such as this for Buy it now at $250 or something way too high and bidders don't want to immediately commit to that, start the bidding at zero or some low and reasonable value, no more than $50 and you'll see what the demand is. I see units all the time sell for a good and fair market driven price when listed this way. Other units listed with high BIN or high reserve prices will just come back up for sale again because no one bites ...
  8. That is a pretty cool idea. I think I would choose some cheaper disks as well!
  9. That seems like a pretty good price for such a nice looking all in one unit. It looks almost brand new! Congrats.
  10. Very cool Jimma, thanks for sharing the information! i am looking forward to receiving the disc and checking it out. Do you think the one I bought is the same content only a re-release?
  11. I have seen this disc over the years but I have never had a chance to pick it up. I scored it today for 18USD including shipping. Check it: Gescom MiniDisc release from 2001 I recall reading sometime ago that this was also available on CD but it was not successful, although the absolute trackless nature of the MD made it the perfect medium for the concept. Anyone with any experience with this disc?
  12. Hey zahne, I'd love to see the list as well. I think I have a few good items for trade!
  13. I just blew some savings on a bunch of new MD blanks. I bought 80 of these: TDK Color And 40 of these: Sony Gold Another 120 disks to add to my stash should keep me in business for a long time to come. Once I get this new shipment, I'll line everything up for a family reunion picture! Interestingly, I ordered the TDKs, which I love, from this same retailer in the UK a year ago and they have increased in price by about 50% since that time. The cost of blanks sure is rising fast. I dropped about $315 USD on 120 blanks, $2.62 per disc on average, that includes shipping. Outrageous!! I am dying to pick up these blanks: Sony ES, but at $6.00 USD per disk, it is simply not a good value in my opinion.
  14. That's awesome! What ATRAC3 or ATRAC3plus? Vocal audio books are perfect for transfer to MD at low bit rate. Another poster recently mentioned he was recording his podcasts onto MD. I guess maybe he should call them MDcasts now. I need a fun new MD project ...
  15. It is probably more likely to be a broken solder joint on the circuit board, the intermittent connection is causing the static. If you can get it apart and re-solder it, you could fix it right up.
  16. That's pretty slick, you have to remove the battery to get it to start. I have had this unit for years and us it as my main down loader, I have never seen this.
  17. You could try one of these: NiMH Wall Charger I have a couple and they never seem to have any trouble charging the gumstick batteries. Your existing batteries may just be toast, they do have a lifespan. That's a sweet find Stephen! That's a lot of goodies for 25 bucks!
  18. Sorry desurain, I don't think you are being ignored, I just don't think these particular forums are the place to find your answer. I wish you luck, have you searched and posted a few other places as well? There has to be a customer base for this cool device out there somewhere ...
  19. My statement should have been made in a more general manner, I have heard this plea in the past. Not specifically from this individual ...
  20. That's a great price, don't forget you can format 80 minute MDs for use in HiMD devices and store just about any ATRAC or ATRAC3plus endoded file, you can even mix them up! I have an NH600 and it is one of my main daily units. Very durable.
  21. I just wanted to say that it is nice to have some new members who are clearly MD lovers around to join in on the discussion and add new thoughts, ideas and opinions. Welcome all. :-)
  22. Oh my, I have heard your plea before over the years. Every time I must review the browser and drool over the craftsmanship. Good luck in your quest ...
  23. I completely agree Joanne_Chan, I have found the same sound tendencies, LP2 is really pretty decent sounding with Type-S playback and for low volume background or automobile listening LP4 will certainly suffice. The key as sfbp mentions is the amazing duration one can achieve on an 80 minute blank and for some source materials anything greater simply makes no sense. melmel, to your point, my favorite is indeed full on real-time SP 292KBps, the sound is amazing, I love it! I think my desire to experiment at home is just for fun :-). My wife has her crafts, I have my MD collections ...
  24. Thanks toxaco, I'll let you know, I think I have a version right around that same era, it has the virtual drive iso loader, etc and a bunch of good tools. I am hoping to get to play with this some this week. I'll keep you guys up to date.
  25. Yeah, I worry about that too. I bought a half dozen of these back a few years ago, they are in a drawer, never charged. I wonder how long they will last. I would think an external battery box with the mini USB plug would be pretty simple to create. Too bad Sony did not include the old side car battery for the RH1.
