  1. I think $200 for the lot is a pretty fair price although Craigslist will rarely get you the best price in my opinion, people are too cheap and want you to give it away. Most people seeing this lot will not even know what they are looking at let alone place a value of $200 on it. The HiMD 600 unit is the most valuable and could bring $150 in a fair market auction on eBay. All of the other units would likely fetch between $25 and $50 each. They are all very common mid-range units. I live about 10 miles from I-70 myself! if you were not 600 miles west, I would swing by with $150 cash and try to pick up the lot! ;-)
  2. Market driven auctions on the US site end up selling used RH1/M200 units for between $250 and $500 USD. This is just from casual observation over the past year or so. People who list for a high fixed price rarely seem to sell their units. High reserve or starting prices seem to effect sales negatively as well.
  3. I just bought my first used MD player/recorder on eBay in about two years! What model you may ask? You'll have to wait to see a few pictures after it arrives, but I will give a few hints. It is blue, all metal, uses common prism style NiMH as well as an AA sidecar and has a special DSP to enhance long play playback!
  4. I often see these types of listings too and wonder what is going on with them. I can't imagine anyone actually paying such an inflated price for any of these units and it seems that they don't, the listings are often renewed after they expire without a sale. It is interesting that ShriDurga sent an email offering $2400 but was turned down? Something is fishy about that, I wonder if it is some sort of money laundering scheme, or a way of moving money across international borders for the support of nefarious activities!
  5. Market value ... That seems like a fair price to me, the $120 you originally asked did not. That's $60 kore than you had 24 hours ago Chris!
  6. Now that's how you determine the real value, let the market dictate it.
  7. It's not worth that much, that's why no one has bought it yet!
  8. I love your site Sergio! I am still reading all of the great details and examining the pictures in detail! Great work to preserve the history of our beloved little devices! :-)
  9. Very cool indeed! Thanks for sharing the pics of your art. Zard looks beautiful, so sad she passed at such a young age :-(
  10. I checked out the website and they have no MD products listed at all. It sounds like a ruse to me ...
  11. You'll have more luck finding people to help over at: http://www.notebookforums.com/f/
  12. I know we got my Sharp IM-DR80 to work using this same method of USB ID discovery, then adding the appropriate lines to the .inf file. I think if the OP can provide those IDs as you stated they should do the trick!
  13. I recently purchased two of the PowerStream gumsticks and they seem to work great as well.
  14. I absolutely love those TDK color disks, and as Marlene notes, they seem to be really well made. Sounds like you got the best price too freddy!
  15. Here is a good search on eBay.com which shows the sold prices for RH1 units over the last couple of months: MZ-RH1 sold on eBay I only included auctions as in my opinion they are the only real indicator of what the market is willing to pay, too many folks listing these units for crazy prices. The price range is pretty dramatic between $200 US to $600 US. You have to consider the additional items thrown in to the sales to entice the buyer, blank Hi-MD disks will drive the price higher.
  16. I think your audience here is limited as compared to eBay, there just aren't as many folks looking to buy a deck here as there are there. I don't thing the price is too high, just fewer customers ...
  17. That's a great article Marlene. I have always loved my MZ-R50 and interestingly I have very rarely used it with a direct headphone connection, I am always using it to playback optically recorded SP via the line level output into my HeadAmp Gilmore Lite driving a pair of Sennheiser HD650 cans, it sounds pretty darned good. Thanks for sharing the great article.
  18. It does seem like the price of new blanks has gone through the roof in the past 18 months. I have been buying them up for about four years and my last big purchase was from a retailer in the UK who ships to the US. I have bought around a hundred of the TDK color disks from them, I really love the cool colors and designs on those TDKs. I also found a retailer here in the states who had a bunch of the Premium Sony Gold 80 minute five packs for a relatively fair price. I am embarrassed to admit how many new blanks I have stashed away, all varieties, nothing rare or terribly unique, just plenty of media to record on. I hope I have recorders and players that last as long as my supply of blanks. One of these days I plan to get them all out and take some pictures of my stash. I have a few five packs of the ES Sony 80 minute disks, they are well built but in my opinion do not sound any different than any other disk, I suspect my 49 year old ears can't detect some sonic nuances as they perhaps once could ...
  19. Come on Stephen, you have to have one room in the house without an MD bookshelf unit!
  20. That's a great idea Jim! Modify the dock to use a standard USB mini socket* ... If I recall, my N10 sidecar does have the yellow DC input that you mention and I believe it does charge the internal battery using this input. I will have to test to confirm. I have four N1 docks which have the mini USB socket, perhaps this dock, which seems to be more common could be used in the "Franken-dock" ...
  21. I think you hit the nail on the head PhilippeC (American slang for you are exactly right), the seller feels they should have gotten more in the sale and pulls out. It is against eBay terms and conditions to not honor a properly complete auction but it has happened to me before as well.
  22. Oh sure, he "lost" it ... I lose stuff that weighs 12 pounds all the time ... Whatever ...
