With a new iphone probably on the way this year again september I guess, and my guess a new touch following as well, sony should release something at the same time to challange apple.
-
I can now confirm 100% it does, I just tested it, can be used with headphoes and to a stereo. Charges it as the same time.
-
I believe it does, can't recall the last time I used the adapter and listned to music on it. I'd have to check in the morning.

"AS NEW" NW-A808 8GB black and "AS NEW" NW-HD3 20GB black
Ascariss replied to lowball's topic in Classifieds
if you have used them, then they are used, and not as new, -
Please do if you can, take as many photos of the opening of the device as you can, perhaps we could feature it on the blog, the first A3000 tear down, not seen one anywhere myself. The more photos the better, just make sure they are in focus

Uhm the only place probably is ebay.

My Sony A829 Review & Pictorial
Ascariss replied to Old skool D's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
Interesting choice, the 818 is like the newwer 829, has no track ratings, can't delete music off the player, basically 808 but no atrac. I am personally holding out waiting for something new from sony, perhaps this fall if anything does show up I hope. -
My Sony A829 Review & Pictorial
Ascariss replied to Old skool D's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
really? I thought the 808 was made from the same material as the 81x series? Last time I checked my 818 was all metal, except the buttons. -
My Sony A829 Review & Pictorial

How much of the device is metal and what parts are plastic? -
This is why I held out on buying a new mp3 player until the atrac free ones arrived. Atrac is a good codec, I liked using it for gapless mainly and that was it. I tend to buy my songs in mp3 or wav format so re-encoding to atrac when I listened to my minidisc was no fun. I never liked sonicstage, it stopped working for me once I upgraded it to some version, this was way back when I had my minidisc still. Once the new mp3 players arrived, connect player showed up and fortunately that worked for me with little problems with no problems after the updates. Everytime I opened CP and went to the connect store, there was a blank page since there was no store in canada. A canadian version was added but music was sold in atrac 132 so that killed the deal for me. Sony wants to cut itself off from the atrac and sonicstage name I think, so I doubt much support will be provided for users in the future. I myself got handed a dud device once sony stopped updating the a1000 and a3000, there are still some issues with it and I am sure more features could be easily turned on with firmware updates. with prices so low on the older NWZ-81x models, it wouldn't be a no brainer to pick one up now. Yes no atrac support so no gapless or on the go playlists, but then there has to be some sacrifices made to rid of sonicstage and its woes. Perhaps sony will realize that on the go playlists and gapless can be done with mp3s or wma and implement it on their future players,

I wouldn't mind if sony released firmware to upgrade the devices to drag and drop. Knowing sony, don't count on it.

err shouldn't the B stand for the colour? as in black? and not best buy. Taken from the sonystyle.ca site Sony’s NWZA728 8GB Walkman® Video MP3 Player - Black - NWZA728B Sony’s NWZA728 8GB Walkman® Video MP3 Player - Pink - NWZA728P Sony’s NWZA726 4GB Walkman® Video MP3 Player - Silver - NWZA726S maybe it is only like this in canada. Why not just buy it from the sony store? or JR.com? Anyways, all the players should be drag and drop no matter what, and if best buy customized it, I'd return it and get a normal model from somewhere else.

Was browsing the Sonystyle website when the new players appeared on it, to my suprise. prices and availability. NWZA829B (16GB) is available now at 319.99 CAN NWZS716FB (4GB) is available now at 149.99 CAN (come with noise cancellation headphones) all the others are for pre order for now, others being: NWZA826KB (219.99 with The DRBT21G Bluetooth headphones, april 4th) NWZA728B NWZA728P NWZA726S NWZA726B NWZA726P the 8GB model with no bluetooth is 199.99 CAN, where as the bluetooth 8 GB model is not on sale at all. the 16GB model is the same prices as the US model so that is a nice thing to see, but we didn't get any 8 GB bluetooth models at all for some reason. Shame Canada was one of the markets where the device came later, we usually got stuff at the same time or even before the US. :/

Only US consumers can buy from the US sony style website.

I doubt a 32 gb version will come, probably once new players are released a 32 gb model should show up.

hey doc, I wouldn't mind seeing an applicaiton like this, in fact I would highly support this would even offer my services in making graphics for it, if you needed some. I have no programming skills so I can't help on that end sadly. But I am sure most people who own the new players, would appreciate this software. WMP isn't bad, but I would just want to drag and drop all my mp3 files into 1 folder in the music folder, then just drag and drop various playlists that would read from that one large music folder. if you could make such software to create playlists that read from one folder it would be heaven for me. looking forwards to seeing this in action.

Juli the new mp3 players are not even available in canada and I don't see any news yet that they ever will be, probably by the time september rolls around, maybe sony will have a new mp3 player on the market. Ya I know, wishful thinking.
-
It's not on the canadian sonystyle site and I doubt it will be anytime soon. In the end I couldn't care less if sony canada imported it or not. They are already behind apple in capacity with the touch now at 32 gigs and creative going down that road as well. The price may be hefty but it could hold almost all my mp3 collection. juli I am sure the UK won't be alone in not having the 16 gig model, if canada gets these new models, rest assured sony canada will rip us customers a new one and not include the 16 gig A820 model like they did with the 8 gig A810 model. If sony wants to take advantage of their new positive position in the mp3 market, they need to release a new stunning mp3 player with features the competition lack and a competitive price, when of course in september or august when apple releases their stuff.

I pondered the same idea a while back even asking a person working at nokia if they could look at the plans for the a1000 and help me out, but then the nwz-a818 came out and my need for a new flash player was provided, still would be nice to have an a1000 with flash or even the a3000 with flash in it.
-
made this during my free time, uses elements from the new 820 series, ps3 menu and older 800 series W logo. Might make another one, but decided to go against a shinny surface, exterior is all metal, aluminum, with a really scratch resistant touch LCD. maybe one day sony will give us a touch walkman, but it will be more than just a walkman, I should note, it would have the option of having buttons on the side for volume, play/pause, forward backswards and menu so you wouldn't have to take out the thing each time you want to skip a song or change volume, the screen would be default to not turn on when those buttons are used.

Looking at this page... http://www.bluetomorrow.com/content/section/308/429/ The voice layer offers a bandwidth of 64kbps, which is fine for cell phone use, but it is not nearly fast enough for transmitting stereo music. The data layer, which provides 723Kbps of bandwidth, is what A2DP uses to stream high bit rate stereo music. if so, then there shouldn't be too much loss, except for the transcoding if it occurs.
-
I hope you are right ceres, because at these prices, I'd be stupid to ditch my brand new 818. And I agree, no on the go playlists and where is gapless

I know how you feel guys, I get all my sony news from engadget now and other sites, or someone posting the information on the forums. I talked to chris last year, september or october and I know he was going back to school and working full time, so he has been and is quite busy and he is never on msn anymore. Ishi I know still visits, but he is also busy I presume. I am only a moderator here and usually just tend to clean up threads, move stuff around and delete spam. I only visit the forums now, and don't have the main site bookmarked anymore, as long as the forum is here, we have a place to discuss sony products and the like. If it ever goes down or chris decides not to continue it anymore, I've made base camp at anythingbutipod, and their sony section on the forum, which needs hardcore sony fans to help the lost new sony fans.

there's a price for the 16gig model on germany's sony site its 319 euros (available/shipping in april i think), with bluetooth headphones, there is no model with normal headphones, although it comes with 2 pairs of headphones I think. 8 gig model normal headphones is 219 euros 4 gig model with bluetooth headphones I think is 219 euros 8 gig with bluetooth headphones is 269 euros going by today's conversion rate, the 16 gb model would be 475 Canadian! insane, sad and pathetic! as was said in 300, this is madness!
