you wanna get used to always keep the volume level at the same place; i try to keep EVERYTHING between 4 and 2 -Db's; keep out of the "red"; althogh red is more dangerous in digital recording.. i like the "head room" and crank up the amps. i like to catch songs off digial cable and IMMEDIATELY transfer to "Analogue" right away;; analogue is "Fun" and colorous;; digital is boring and greyish. are you recording music or voice, perfumedgarden?

the difference is that professions like me with a GOOD ear and that KNOW good quality use MD/Hi-MD and wouldn't be caught dead with an mp-3 player. some may debate this; but when i listen to my friends' mp3 crap; i wanna puke. it's just it takes a little patience and brains to "DO" MD/Hi-MD; and for the non-believers; let them play with thier trivialness.

if you leave the battery in; and use the usb (on the (900);; and hit "stop" twice (or maybe once); will it start re-charging the battery; or, is that only when the AV adaptor is plugged in. that was annoying; so,, i take the battery out when connecting the usb cable.

so; your battery box takes "AA's"?; not a 9 volt battery? i had bought a batter box that took this strange batter and had NO life to it; then i got one with a 9 Volt battery; and the life just about tripled. what kind of BB do you have? (make and model)? oh; by the way; good info/reading (greenmachine); i didn't realize i FORGOT so much.!

hey nice pic,stuge. it's raining cats and doggs here; just planted grass seeds in the front lawn; *hoping the birds will eat most of them*; lol. wish i could go up in the attic and record more rain-hitting-the-roof sounds with my Hi-MD900; but i gotta sit here and edit a movie for my wife. sometimes i wish a bolt of lightning would hit my studio and end all of this!

what do you think you did wrong to get a (not so great) recording; was it the mic;; the mic placement; your settings; what? oh; i just got finished listening to my Rush "Rushed" remixed DVD ; AND; my Jethro Tull remixed DVD.

i (rayzray) love the Virtual Surround EQ setting; i just leave it there; and many times i "speed up" all the songs a bit to get a little more excitement out of them. enjoy your (900)!

why do i (rayzray) have a "Feeling" that it will be a success; what exactly would "success" constitute, though?

just a thought; can you get it at least to play analogue; and send a line-out feed to some kind of recorder and just save it that way; just in case?

Well; i couldn't take it any longer; knowing that there are only two more Flaming Lips CD's left at the CD store; was hoping for the DVD set ; but it's just not gonna happen. soooo, i buys it; takes it home; transfers it to Hi-MD900 #1 & #2; goes to take a nap and listen ; and; (IT"S THE GREATEST CD i have bought in a long while); i absotutly love EVERY song; ((well i'm only up to "Mr Ambulance Driver". i had to stop there; my heart was beating so fast from the excitement; and the mastery of vocals and instruments (especially synths).! they start off with "The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song" which see them (the FL's) as a little Bjorkish vs Flaming Lips,, but interesting. then on trach 2; they do a Prince inpercination; love the sweaking song. then they start a transformation towards the FL's via a Beach Boy sound; by the 4 song on they are TRULY themselves; as GOOD as any CD they eva had; maybe this is the BEST! even if the next 4 songs are not that great; i give this CD a 10 out of 10! i couldn't take it anymore when i started seeing good reviews on it; like (8.9) etc; that did it. i MUST buy it! they make me wanna get out all my fweaking synths and my Harmonizers and vocalizers; and digital efx machines and play along. since i didn't get the DVD version; i decided to MAKE MY OWN DVD of it; like i will do all the visuals; and "Act" out all the parts; (maybe with help from my students); but i WANT to be the "Star'; there is no room in there for my little cute students to horn in on my popularity. yes; i will do it solo; with all my studio characters; and call it "The Toungue Between The Flaming Lips".!!!! you can't miss with this one.!

you would HAVE to have an optical out in one deck/player AND an optical-in on the other deck/recorder;; AND, IF you did NOT record the original songs FROM a CD optically. (edit) OR, lift them off a cable or satillite station sotically).! it you did record the original songs/audio OPTICALLY; then it WON'T let you transfer "optically"; you will have to transfer "analogue" (red & white line-in and outs). if they are mixed; take my advice and just do it analogue; or else it will either drive you crazy with various volume levels; OR, just a pain to do it. and i hope these are not in L2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10.& 13) j/k

i am fortunate; my piano students give me their "Hand-me-downs" & install all kinds of Goodies in my two PC; it never costs me a cent/penney'nada-dango???? there are experimental thing in my PC's that i don't enev know about; it's probably hidded in the "un-accessible part" you know the "ADMINISTRATOR PART".! i am only allowed so mucn head room before i hang myself. perhaps a KVM would be like a loaded gun for me. like;; they set it up so anything on my screen goes to my A/V Mixing board and into my video projects. soooo;; that means if i have TWO screens;; i can quickly go from one screen to the other and instantly have it show up on my A/V mixer/monitor? sooo;; if i have two or three KVM's; i can add about 6 more scenes to my alteadt 5 or 6 scenes i already have. Cool.!

maybe i can say i am making a "Movie" with my new A/V mixer and stuff; and ask them to "Borrow" the camrera for a month; that i would feature it in the movie as evidence in a murder plot. and the defense tried to say the evidence is tainted; and, i prove that the Hi-MD disk is one of the MOST stable media/medeum/???? well like, pertty good evidence. then we would have a month to play with it; i bet SBG would drive here from NS just to take a pic.

that seems like a small problem for me (rayzray); also seems like a challange; i (rayzray) would grind down the button;; or build up a "Protective Rim" AROUND the button;; or something like that; or, maybe go to the leather shoppe and have a special "holster" made for it; you know; like the fweakin ones you see for the i-pods selling for a rediculous price! a little imagination goes a long way; i wouldn't let a tree toppling on my car stop me from going to see "The Flaming Lips" if they were performing down-state! mate; skate a bit; skate till eight;; then wait; and the problem will only be a small one.!

my ultimate Hi-MD romote would be one about the SAME size as the unit itself; like a synthesizer "Controller". with all kings of "knobs" and sliders and BIG screen. you could keep the main unit in your pocket/case and use just the controller/remote. the controller would do EVERYTHING; hey why not make it wireless; lol. or, usb it to a hand PC; a PCD, PCh: PHD??! only a dream; but i'm sure other great inventions were only a dream once. one more thought; why not IN a "Cell Phone"; i guess not.

those are NOT enough negatives to outwiegh the positives; IMO. you just learn to work with it.

i can't imagine that! they did mention a switch. i think they are trying to un-clutter my room/studio; but, i use both PC's at the same time: like, i can be on the forum on one and editing a DVD on the other; how can you do that with ONE screen? clutter is GOOD; editing i should; and re-mix i could; it's my livelihood! misunderstood sometimes.

my piano students wanted me to have two PC's with ((ONE screen))!! does that make sense? i opted with 2 PC's two Screems and two keyboards; well we all know i do eveything by two's. why do you need two screens; this means i (rayzray) can have 4 screens then; if i had a purpose for it.

i think it's only a "Bling Bling";; or a case for a spare MD disc; IMO. i could store my diabetic pills in it. (and a secret note to the Starbuck cofee girl. LOL.!

oh second thought; i change my mind; it YOUS GUYS' forum; yous put a LOT of work into this forum; and yous should do what's best for it. i will survive; i am like a cockaroach (sp); i'll survive anything. knock yourselves out and have a good time; i will be lurking here and there; but i am "despencable" (sp); yous will go on and on even when i leave. yes; it would be INTERESTING to see a change;; a merge;; DeBurge; and some splurge. it would also mean meating more ppl (members); no matter what moods they have.
