Your records are analouge , and carry no text info , plus the LPs are connected analouge to the mixer then the mixer converts to Digital . The only way you get text, is if you are using a CD Player that has Text Transfer capability . Then and Only then will you get Track names automatically. CD -MD direct , no mixer

On the Comp , one USB port supllies power and the other doesnt in some cases , ( My Mac book does that) or the current level wont be enough on the one port to instigate the charging. I notice with my RH1 , I have several different brands of AC/USB adapters, one for the MicroTrack from M-Audio, and Telephone adapters for the cellphone , I have tried the RH1 on all of them,None of them worked . Only worked on the SONY Adapters , then I have this AC power strip that has a USB, and two AC outs , and it Worked , There has to be something about the USB connection in the RH1 .

What Remote are you using ? I have a Japanese RH1 , and get Both Romaji and Kana , I have to scroll quite a way to get to it , but its there, I will check with both remotes and see, I have the 40elk with the scroll wheel , and REALLY like it it .

Its 549 . at ishibashi music and in his first post he bashed MD over iPod In another Mac based post He continued the same question here . There is a new guy asking Why songs are greyed out in MD Transfer , and several people were helping him ,itwas turning into a good conversation, then Greg showed up bashing MD " Md is in a different Century compared to iTunes /iPod functionallity" his comment had absolutely NOTHINg to do with the kids question. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=18872 I think he was 4-5 posts down That is what I was pointing out to him was that the iPod thing is not needed. I added the Korg to emphasize that the iPod is an over rated fashion accessory with the only purpose of being identified with a particular genre . The plethora of players available, with way more features ..... you know what I mean , sorry I had to rant on the guy . Did you read the other topic? and I agree bout the Korg , non functional ...ummmm just like an iPod !!!!!!!!!!

No prob , my reference was so that you dont wear out the internal drive playing music. If you wear out the external drive you dont have to send in your mac for repair, just go to the pawn shop , or something like that and buy a new CDRW, I personally dont even bother with SS , I use my RH1 for getting the current stuff ,or what I record on it into the Mac , and MD transfer is simple , uncluttered , and doesnt take over your system , your files go straight to the desktop , then you drag em to whatever folder you want , rather than iTunes creating its own doubled up library and wasting disk space. The ONLY reason iTunes is on my machine is the Radio feature, that is it . I download podcasts directly from the issueing sites not iTunes. I am an Audio Engineer and a Crafstman ,so any intelligent question deserves the same in respect as an answer. What Greg did was come on here trying to compare iPod with MD , in a topic that was strictly about How to get the MD to cooperate with the mac, not about the diffences or preference of iPod over MD . I own a Mac , but I do not own or want an iPod . I would rather have the Korg MR1 , when iPod can do THIS Ill buy it,.. http://www.korg.com/gear/info.asp?a_prod_n...p;category_id=3

Greg , The RH1 loads what it records to Mac VERY well , It doesnt have to load the stuff you did on yesteryearsmachines, you come here bashing istead of thinking , (i am refering to you OTHER post) Your definition of "CRUDE" is based on being spoiled with your iPod /iTunes connection /interaction. That has Nothing to do with MD . MD is a Different Animal , with a Different PURPOSE , You dont hook a 500 dollar set of Microphones to your %#$#$# IPOD!!!!!! MD is about Recording, iPod is about fashion, change the subject and stick with the one that is here. And since your on a Macbook get parrallels or BootCamp and put XP on so you dont have to use your freinds Comp Stick a usb CDrw drive on so you dont destroy the Macs internal DVD drive. Then Make a differentiation Between MD and what it is for , and your iPod.

A little research in the forums will show you that NOone uses Garage band for the MD transfer , Audacity , CD Wave , SoundStudio More simplcty no project setup, Garage Band is fro The musicians , not MDer's I have a post over in software discussions that has links to a lot of free downloads , Most of the progs are free , for just simply set and forget then come back later and fix. look at post #2 there is a Link. just scroll up from here. iPod and iTunes , are NOT about Capturing sound, Music , Live, Freinds CD's ( you dont drag your Mac everywhere you go ) Concerts , Festivals , Nature, Lectures, Parties, Rehearsals, Kids Graduation, Clandestine Recording, AND JUST PLAIN SOUNDING GOOD, as well as HAVING THE THING THAT EVERYONE ELSE DOES NOT HAVE. iPod is an addiction , and a waste of constructive time. For playing CD on my Macbook I use Audion 3 , not iTunes, i tunes is a resource hog ,and simply a matter of "oneupsmanship" for Apple , (I happen to know the semi-complete history of iTunes developement, and how those chose an inferior format to build it on because they could negotiate a deal with a better designer , so they took the "Lesser of two evils" when they started building iTunes.) And by the way , the RH1 WIll play mp3 , and it is just simply drag and drop to the MD Transfer window. This forum and topic board is NOT about ITUNES or IPODS , it is CAlled the "MD Forums" its address is minidisc.org not ipod.org now that I have finished ranting ,....can we have an intelligent conversation?

I was at HardOff again today , I found in the "Junk Section" but in perfect condition , A Sony ZS-F1 Table top Sound system .This was the Last of the good ones , 1994-1998 or so , It is in use in many Recording Studios as Final Monitoring for the finished product . It is Playing Jackson Brown "I'm Alive" From my RH1 which is connected to the line input , The CD Player on it is way better than most Home Stereo systems , and on par with a lot of studio players. It is loaded with TOTO IV at the moment and the Radio reception is better than My home system which will get sold tommorrow. http://www.birdiehouse.co.jp/studios/abs/emasequip.html http://www.thinksync.co.jp/studio/equ.html http://www.blasterhead.com/aboutus.html http://www.sound-dali.com/studiob/index.html http://www.sound-dali.com/studioa/index.html http://www.beborn.com/studio/equipments.html http://www1.neweb.ne.jp/wb/gumbo/studio/st...ile/profile.htm http://mi-x.way-nifty.com/about.html And the list would go on ,,,,...........I Paid 3,100 yen for it .thats 30 dollars

Hold in the "Display/Menu" button till you get to menu , scroll to Rec Settings, select AGC , if your signal does not go above a certain point then the AGC wont kik in, there are two types of AGC one for Music , and a Standard , try them both see what you like . If that doesnt work for you then use the Manual Rec settings, and just set the Rec level to a likable point where your not peaking (-2 is good ) Optical connection use AGC works very differently you also have Manual Rec on the Optical connection.I have used it frequently.

If your on High speed net , I could convert the Stevie files to Wave Files the send em over the net , then you could burn em to disc or MD or whatever and not worry bout shipping , ( just would be neat if you could teleport the batteries!!!!!)

LOL , I have a few freinds here in Japan set up to transfer VHS to DVD , with full mixing board and mastering utilities( 24 channel board , proccessors etc. ) How many tapes , how much you willing to compensate me . ( They would not be copied or released here ) I could strip the audio , into a seperate file , then remaster the audio, not much you can do about Video , subtle enhancements but What was originally recorded , without major studio gear , is pretty much what youve got. Audio I can fix.

I have one of those ! The wife that is , LOL I luv Bluegrass, Especially like that fact that there has been a resurgance ,albiet a different form the " Newgrass" but a lot of it reaches back to roots . NickelCreek , and the like ,younger groups keeping it open for the rest of the world . It is really funny to watch the face of a "metal shredder" get a few beers in him at a GOOd bluegrass festival ,and then suddenly realize that he is listening to some REALLY GOOD musicians. I have had that experience on more than a few occasions , and was dumb enough to forget the camera TC

Find a Game Boy adapter , its 3volts , and has the same plug , it should work for the 900 , just check the polarity , it should be plus centered .
-
Very well said King . It tells me that you do have some experience , which raises the level of conversation that I would personally have with you , speaking to someone who doesnt understand those basic tenents about those things , is a lost cause. which is why I posted the Home Recording Guide, on the other topic area.

when in the studio and WORKING , Cans,.. I Have a pair of Yamaha RH5A that I cut the bass on the master by 2db and they give me near linear response , Very detailed . For personal listening I have bothe the IEM's and Cans I actually at home find the Yamahas easier to grab , they just sound good. my Sonys are for the trains and travel .

Ray the issue is this Guy is doing the recording for OTHER people to listen to , he needs a Flat but slightly taylored response to what He is Producing, Otherwise there would be No consistancy in his PRODUCT , it is fine if you EQ your own stuff, but that isnt what this debate was about . He Owns a recording company , and is Producing a Product. That Product needs to Be consistant . "Not an A LA Carte" menu dude.We dony want any Bacon buts on this stuff. I Think he has a good appreciation for what I discussed with him in another forum. The Idea of Studio Recording , is that YOU WANT to hear the mistakes , YOU WANT to hear linear Flat response ,You WANT to be able to identify the Transients , and be able to smooth things out for proper finalization. With TONS of EQ , that isnt what you hear . The Idea of EQing in a studio is to CUT generally no so much Adding,

Interesting they mention QT as a format but not included in the test , I have a prog that records in QT and I must admit it is really clean , It is really basic , we are talking one button . It is like Soundrecorder in Windows but for Mac and it doesnt have a timelimit, ( exept for your drive , More file settings and preference settings than the Windows thing, It is mentioned in my download list. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?s=&am...st&p=118589
