You obviously do not know what Phantom power is . What the Entire line of Md recorders supply is called " Plugin Power " . It is a Low voltage Bias current supply for small tie clip or similar microphones that do NOT use Phantom power Phantom Power = 9 -> 52 volts DC filtered , 2 -> 4 Milliamp current supplied to both a Positive and a Floating negative terminal for Mics that are Balanced ( XLR connectors) in which you have a Ground , a Minus , and a Positive ........ Md's supply a standard Positive + Ground .......... not a Phantom Power . HHB's Pro Md recorder does supply Phantom , but it is XLR Connection for Pro mics . All Portable MD recorders supply Plug in Power , to the Mic in Socket . it is generally 1.2 volts , to about 2.7 depending on which recorder and about 2 ma's . Hope that answers your question

Varnish instead of Poly ? hope that the summer heat doesnt give you the stickies . Some varnishes will do that if they are poorly made . I would at least do a Urethane with UV protectant . Just a thought

Exactly , the output level is a little less , But recording quality is the same for line level stuff , and Mic Input is stereo also , With FRESH batteries the Auto Level and Noise redux work very well when recording from the internal mic , no motor noise at all , unlike when you use a Mic mounted to the Md ( Small direct mount to the mic input ) Those are noisy as crap ..... but the B10 gets around that very nicely , the recordings are nice and clean .

No the Headphone is STEREO silly , LOL If it plays a stereo MD why would the Phones be MONO , The Mic is Dual Mono though , so it records to both channels , and is great for just instant capture . 1 big REC button , no level setting or anything , just go ........
-
me too, B10 is really usefull , the headphone out isnt as hot as the normal portables , but is isnt meant to be , but the Optical input , is the same , and for just catching the Language or classroom stuff , It works very well , I have a large collection of stuff recorded on a B10 .

Use the 120 hz , and have the 07 as close to the interviewees as possible , then after importing to your Mac/PC , use Audacity , to remove any remaining noise , with the Noise removal features in Audacity ( freeware ) Start with fairly LOW thresholds in the noise filter ( in other words a LITTLE at a time , instead of one BIG chunk ) Step one , Highlight an area where there is ONLY the noise , then select from effects the Noise Removal -> " Get Noise Profile" it will use the highlighted area to identify the noise and seperate that from the audio . Step 2 Highlight the entire File ( "Select All ") then-> Effects-> Noise Removal-> settings try a Low setting at first 3 Db , or so ( you will be surprised at what a difference it makes ) or do it in 2 DB increments . Enjoy your pristine interview . export as Wav burn it to CD

Yep , I had the same issues , and I am on Mac , iTunes PLUS is better , but not that much . I use iTunes only for an immediate need such as a song for a guitar student . Other wise it's Used CD's or LP's ( o some may be obtained this week , I have to make a trip to look for an Album cover for someone )

RTM , Read The Manual , The D1200 you have two options , To move individual tracks one at a time , as wav files ( Import /Export for tracks) Then you have entire song Import /Export , But you have to Backup the song , and setup the communication ports on the Computer , it is all in the Manual . It isnt just Plug and Play like an iPoood . Or You can Mix it to sound good and record to your Sony MZ- RH1 ( which you will need to buy ) and then upload THAT to the PC quite easily it would also make you a member of the MINI DISC FORUMS , not the Home recording forums , the guys here know anything and everything about MD for the most part only the Musicians here ( Me being one of them ) will know about Multitrackers . But Welcome to the Forums .

Windham Hill " Sanctuary " 20 years , 2 cd set that was recorded to MD LP2 mode years ago , Listening for the FIRST time on an MD Deck .......... I am enjoying this immensely .

Just Added another Deck , a Denon DMD-M50 with Optical out , and MDLP . Yay ! and It works with the Remote that Wiz sent me ( Your package is almost ready Wiz sending soon . ......) I sold an Amp that I had gotten from a Music store that needed repair and they didnt want it anymore , I brought it home and it sat for awhile , and wasnt really going to sell it , But A freind had kept asking for it and when I saw the Denon , ........ well ,....... I Sold the AMp to get the Denon !!. So I am Broke again . But It has already helped me save some recording that was buried on an LP4 disc , using the Optical out to the Other Denon , I rerecorded it in SP Mode , So I have my FRENS disc again , no not my Friends disc ,......... F.R.E.N.S. Jazz group that was in Virginia , and some seriously good stuff. Here is my mess

Stereo XLR Mic preamps For MD ( I am building some)
Strungup replied to Strungup's topic in Live Recording
Well I tested with the Yamaha Md4 track , and was pleasantly surprised by what I got out of it , Two mics to th preamp , direct from my guitar , so three channels . The guitar was ALSO going thru a Mono version of these same preamps . Mic left , Guitar Center , Mic Right . I was in audio heaven , Fat studio sound on a Budget . And very Clean . I am also buggin for a Tivoli Model One Radio , if anyone wants to do some trading , ( The Japanese Version , the frequencies are different , the FM band is WAY narrower only goes up to a little over 90 mhz , the US version goes to 108 . -
Hmmmm , I will have to come up with a pricing guide , Real Rosewood , Macassar Ebony , Walnut , Maple ......... Line in and out huh ? , I gotta start on a blueprint . Room for the 40 , Like that one ! , Table top stand with a side tray cutout for the remote ........ I can see it now .
