1kyle
Not sure if this topic has been addressed before --but I just don't like the larger HI-MD jewel cases -- anyway I've swapped most of them now for the older style and size cases. It's much easier to take 2 or 3 (or more) of the older cases in your pocket than the newer ones.I can easily distinguish between my MDLP and HI-MD discs as I've 've got (from a shop in Germany) BLUE cases for my HI-MD discs in --they look quite stylish as well.Cheers-K Edited July 2, 2005 by 1kyle
tartan
hate em big time, easily smashable unlike the better old school soft cases which bend their way out of trouble
MDGB2
Wouldn't mind them as much if there were racks and storage boxes available for them.Maybe they were trying to make them similar to casette tape boxes (although why, who knows.....) daremo
I have not done so yet, but I am going to switch them soon. I think I'll keep the bigger cases for the couple discs I use as data backup discs. But yeah, stupid big cases ><
sebastianbf
Maybe they were trying to make them similar to casette tape boxes (although why, who knows.....)←the himd big cases are very similar to the pre-recorded minidisc cases. I don't know why they did this...
KJ_Palmer
I've swapped all my big Hi-MD cases for 'traditional' MD-sized ones - about 30 of them so far. Otherwise they wouldn't fit in my MD rack - and I don't like 'em anyways - they're a waste of space...
xispe
I hate them...
Embio
I actually quite like them - they look good on my shelf with some custom inserts based on album covers
SlowMo
yes i hate them !they're such a waste of space, and much less practical to use. why not make this thread a poll ?
MZ-NH1
Can some post a pic or a link so I can see the cases? as I am not too sure I know what they are :S
whynot
I'm on the fence. Certainly too bulky for the pockets. But I too have been experimenting with custom inserts, then duplicating them for the not so sticky labels supplied. They seem robust enough for what they are but are a serious waste of space. Thought I could stick 2 in there but they won't close.
SlowMo
and if they get "hit" by something, or fall down, the disk inside gets loose, and rattles around. not good
Andicillo
and if they get "hit" by something, or fall down, the disk inside gets loose, and rattles around. not good ←I LOATHE THEM... VERY FUSSY, THEY ADD TO THE CLUTTER IN MY BEDROOM. NEITHER DO I KNOW WHY THEY DID THEM LIKE THAT. MAYBE THEY JUST WANTED TO MAKE THEM SIMILAR TO ZIP DISKS... STUPID!!!HEY, BY THE WAY, I CHATTED WITH A REPRESENTATIVE OF MINIDISC AUSTRALIA (YOU CAN ADD IT TO YOUR ICQ LIST) AND HE TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE WAITING FOR THE ARRIVAL OF 2 GB BLANK DISKS.HAVE YOU HEARD OF THAT? bri
Just got my hands on my first set...They're seriously bigger than I thought they would be. No justifiable reason apart from buying new accessories!Btw, less of the CAPS please (here and elsewhere).
EveryWord
I'm hating them too, and wondering if anyone know where I can buy just the slip cases, without the minidiscs?
batfastad
Yeah I'm not a fan of the larger ones.I just use spare old-style slip cases from other discs.
brandorf
I somewhat like the new, cassete style cases. If I was going to keep my MDs on a shelf, I'd use them. However I use a Caselogic binder to store all my MDs anyway, so the slipcases get tossed. For slipcases I prefer the older, hard plastic ones, over the soft, translucent ones. MDX-400
So Hi-MD units use larger slipcases than regular MDs??? I don't even use the regular MD slipcases, I have a bag full of maybe 20 or more of them and I've even given a bunch away before! I don't bother with them as the discs have a shutter and are fairly well protected on their own. Plus I have an MD wallet that stores MDs without the cases... He says they work great for him.
Paula
[i totally hate them and wish I had a source for slipcases. I refuse to buy more until I can get some slipcases!
