  1. What version of SonicStage are you using? SonicStage 4.3 is suppose to be compatible with Vista. You can always just use Simple Burner for Hi-MD or NetMD transfer, or you working on something more complicated?
  2. Will slowly move away from Minidisc so for sale are the following: - 3 used 1GB Hi-MDs (no stickers/labels). - 10 used Memorex 74min MDs, assorted colors, 7 unused stickers/labels. All 74min MDs will be reformatted to either NetMD or Hi-MD, buyer chooses. I can sell all together or seperate. Make offers. Shipping to the U.S. , Canada and BobT only. Thanks.
  3. Just basic economics of supply and demand, and MJ fanatics.
  4. You've got an exceptionally list of MD units in your sig. I only have 2 of them.
  5. I'm assuming that's over $100 USD. I'll pass, but it is a rare MD.
  6. I have to agree, the volume of Invincible is near 100db, when measured with MP3gain, so I'm not surprised there's clipping and distortion. But remember, MJ doesn't decided how loud or clear his CDs sound. But yeah, there's a huge obsession with recording companies today to make CDs louder and louder. This is why I don't like to compress loud CDs to LP2, because of the additional distortion it produces. What I usually do is rip the CDs to MP3, use MP3gain to lower the volume and it eliminates most clipping.
  7. Despite it's great features and being the top of the line Minidisc player, the RH1 does not have Bass boost, Megabass or X-Bass. It's bass frequency is only 100hz, so I'm not sure if that will be good enough for you to listen to your deep bass vocal music.
  8. Just wanted to comment on your youtube video: iPod vs Minidisc. Very well done, and enjoyed it alot.
  9. In the video, what Hi-MD model is that? Or is it a NetMD?
  10. Yeah, but that's boring, and I don't have one.
  11. I imported a bunch of CDs into my Playstation 3 using ATRAC 256kbps, and I was able to transfer one of the music files to my RH1. Now, the PS3 only recognized the RH1 when a minidisc is Windows formatted (not Hi-MD). It displays it as "USB Data Hi-MD Walkman." It just sees the RH1 as a removable storage device, nothing special. Here's the kicker, I then hooked up the RH1 back to my computer and transferred the music file to "My Music" folder in windows explorer. No copy protection errors, or nothing of the sort. I imported the music file in SonicStage and then reformatted the minidisc to Hi-MD mode, and was able to transfer that music file back to the RH1. No copy protection errors again! Should I be surprised? My question now is, is there any way to analyze and compare ATRAC music on the PS3 versus those ripped in SonicStage? Could there be a difference in sound quality? I would be happy to send the file to anyone willing to do analysis, and I can also use a different bitrate if it helps. Playstation 3 can import in ATRAC, MP3 and AAC.
  12. Found this on youtube. It hits the nail on the head!
  13. Sorry, but I just started visiting this forum again in the past couple of weeks. So importing a CD as WAV using SonicStage is big NO, NO. What happened to "it's all 1s and 0s anyway?"
  14. I searched and didn't find anything on this topic. The only thing I founds was an analysis using Hi-SP and MP3, but now I'm asking is there a difference when using Simple Burner to transfer music to NetMD (LP2) vs importing the whole CD in SonicStage (in .WAV) then converting (to LP2) and transfering to NetMD? When I say difference, I mean in sound quality. LOL. Just realized I posted in wrong section. Please move to Software Support section. Thanks.
  15. Just the post of the link would have been nice. thanks.
  16. Hey Bob, yeah, I think I understand what you're saying. What about just using an RCA Y-cable and connect it to a Hi-MD unit and turn the recording level all they way up? I don't see why that wouldn't work.
  17. I have to agree. Like I said, they did leave the best for last (even if they forgot to add Megabass).
  18. I'm sorry, for what Hi-MD units would these remotes work on?
  19. How about MP3 playback on the NH1? Is it as clear as the RH1?
  20. Okay, I just went through the list of all the Hi-MD models. Why on earth does Sony produce so many different Hi-MD units. They should have only made 2 or 3 really good ones, and the rest trash them. I mean, there's the MZ this and MZ that. It's not that I'm putting down the NH1, I just don't see it as being superior to the RH1. Sony did leave the best for last, even if it doesn't have megabass.
  21. I have a CD recorded deck that I can hook up to the outputs of a vinyl record player. I have not done such a recording, but I'm sure it can capture the vinyl sound without loss of sound quality. ATRAC SP, even as good as it sounds, is a lossy compression codec, so some vinyl sounds could be lost during the recording. If you have a Hi-MD unit, you can record using PCM from vinyl and without loss of sound quality. I own Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album on vinyl. Will experiment with this.
  22. Yeah, I'd have to agree with you. My NetMd DN430, just stomps all over the RH1 bass.
  23. Well, hopefully they will release a second generation of the X-series, so I might wait til then. But you didn't mention the most important feature of the unit: what about the BASS??? Heavier than RH1? Or weaker (the way some forums members like it)?
