Maybe this is a stupid question but if you connect a Net-MD unit on your PC, is this possible to use the M-Crew software instead of SS ?

I was wandering if that will not be difficult next years to find an unit in good order. At least an unit like an MZ-R55 is not expensive and that is why I bought mine in 2011 from Holland with a bunch of his brothers (MZ-R35, MZ-N710, MZ-NH700, MZ-RH1) just in case units would get rare and in bad order.

Maybe a corrosion problem inside on your button board or on the button themselves ? Open it.

The right mail address is here. Sharp like Sony do not support the MD format since years. In Italy maybe you can talk about your problem with Sergio Scotto. https://sites.google.com/site/crazyforminidisc/

Or a vacuum cleaner with a fin net (gauze...) on the mouth + low power. Talking about mouth, a dentist mirror and light could be useful.

I suggest you open your unit just in case to look at where this old smoke is supposed to come from. Sure you will need to clean something inside with an air sucker (the gentle kind one). Maybe this was only some plastic parts... Very tiny burnt parts could stop your unit one day or the other.

Vintage mixed with recent stereo Hi-Fi. Personaly I have a JB980 connected to a Yamaha DSP-AZ1 home theater amplifier which is... explosive both with my hundreds of SACD albums stored on my HDDs and with MDs. Old Sansui and big Chinese stand loudspeakers.

What did you do to make it work finally ?

I love it. Rare, look like The Quest of the Holy Grall. What is your hi-fi system ?

Reviving Sony MZ R500 - Issues with recording
PhilippeC replied to the_1_shark's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
Such units have a cheap price. Just find one with Atrac 4.5 + type R. Or an MDLP uni type S. There is also jonathanpotato in France who is a excellent repairman : http://www.jonathandupre.fr/ -
Just using a 2 pins AA case fitted for your MZ-R55 is also a good solution to bring him life.

Sharp 1 bit blind listening test
PhilippeC replied to sanchaz12's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
Note that if you are using SS to transfer to a Net-MD unit in SP mode , you will NOT get SP quality but LP2 sound quality. The MD however can be listen by all MD unit. Real SP quality is only possible with a real time recording. That does not change the purpose of your test.- 6 replies

I do not have or seen it. sfbp (Stephen) or philippeb will be more helpful than me. Technically speaking, this is sure.

Having trouble with the following

Thanks. Come and visit us again for any question or comment. -
The price of your Teac MD player deck is for sure not expensive. Instead of replacing the KMS 260 laser on your unit (which is difficult), why not just buying a new unit ? Hope you will get help here anyway.
-
That remote price is - always be - huge. But it is so cute.
-
At least JE480 is a type S unit, your MDLP discs will sound better than with the JE470. My choice would be (MDLP units) : 1) a JB980 2) a JE780 3) a JE480 with few or no scratches, and if possible with a remote

Dowloading schedule is not important. - delete previous drivers (and check windows/inf has said before Stephen) - download SS and NetMD Windows 64 drivers I think there is no problem to install SS at this moment - then disabled the driver signature enforcement and reboot - Yes remove the driver from the zipper folder in your download folder (backup it), connect your MD, ask Windows to activate the driver, open SS = your MD is seen (insert a MD disk) - reboot (standard session), reconnect the MD and open SS, everything is fine
