  1. OK, I thought well, you used the deck optical out. I am sorry not to be able to use my Creative X-Fi Platinium sound card. Just for fun, I can run these tests anyway, with my laptop. JB980 vs MZ-N710(Net-MD), MZ-N510 (Net-MD), MZ-R55 (SP), MZ-R30 (SP)
  2. OK when you record in real time, just like old time with K7 decks... but during listening, if you have a black desk in a dark room - and some presbyopia - you will hurry to find a remote (I even got a second one for JB980, just in case).
  3. Unless I win with Euromillion, I think that I will never buy again very expensive audio separates > 1.500€. My system is now in Vietnam at the same "audiophile level" than my "old" system in France : http://forum.vintage-audio-laser.com/post335186.html?hilit=philippeC#p335186 . Exactely the same generation and even the same units (Cyrus IIIi instead of Cyrus II + PSX, Rega Ela MkII instead of Rega Ela). The difference is that nowadays we are using a PC in the system and so we able to listen to 24bit-96kHz music !
  4. I also suppose that the computer need to have a very good audio card. My inboard sound card in my laptop - Realteck "High Definition" Audio - is not as good (and user friendly) as my PCI Creative Platinium X-Fi (actually waiting outside my out of order desktop). I also have a Hercules Muse LT external audio card. Edit : after a listening test, that Muse LT is not better than my inboard card.
  5. I intend to keep in my house a close-to-high-end audiophile system. I don't want anymore to pay the money for 1.000$ or much more new amplifiers (my craziest : the very first Einstein integrated amplifier) and loudpeakers, so I look around to 200$-300$ vintage separates, all with the good old english (I am french) sound : Cyrus/Naim/Linn/Rega/Arcam/Mission,etc... I brought from France years ago my Cyrus IIIi, my Monster M1 speakers cable, my CD Cyrus daD3 (out of order.. replaced by a new Marantz CD5004) and 4 years ago, a JB980 deck. And this last summer I bought for 170€ in France a pair of Rega Ela MkII loudspeakers (2x15kg... my wife is working with Air France) ! This 90's vintage system (except the Marantz that has been bought new) is afordable, don't take so much place in the room and above all is audiophile.
  6. How can you keep the signal digital all the time with a portable unit witch don't have an optical out ? Do you use a RH1 to upload the recorded signal in the PC / RMAA ? Or, do you use the optical out of the deck to the PC / RMAA to make the difference between portable and (the same) deck recording ?
  7. There is MD technical Nobel price involve before Xmas ? Even sfbp Stephen is distanced except with in the overall technical price. I have noticed the first weeks a huge difference in sound (dynamics) between my JB980 and my portable units - all connected to my audiophile system - when listening. Don't remember with witch unis - deck or portable - those listening tests irecordings (hope you can understand me ) has been done. I am also not able to remember audible differences in high frequencies at the time, just a huge feeling of getting more dynamics. Maybe it is time to make my own tests. Not with my RH1 (NH900 + 2 RH1 in Europe), but I have here a NH700. Explain why MDietrich said that he was on his way to buy a deck ! Do you explain already in a post your methodology MDietrich, specialy your getting measurements & graphs protocol ?
  8. Both can download the pre-recording made by an analog connection to the PC. Only one will allow the real time recording from the optical ouput of the PC, or from the analog output of the PC or the tape out of your amplifier. Now, the pre-recording WAVE tracks could be corrected (classics micro-K7/ K7 sound defaults) by some free or cheap sound editor softwares (same settings once for all), allowing the swift dowload of all lectures corrected. A one-time real time recording - even with your previous recorder - is OK if you don't have time (perhaps later?). There is also the question of making a mark between tracks / lectures parts. LP4 will be perfect for these lectures (voices).
  9. a best of of these corean topics with a lot of pictures would be welcome
  10. better if you tell us where do you live huuummmm ?
  11. At this time, my RH1 has many contact problems (due to missing screws at most). So the solution was the binder. Today the unit has been completely repaired by Jim Hoggarth.
  12. I used a sticky fur once... my Marsupilami RH1
  13. I have already noticed that Behringer Ultramatch for its astonished audiophile sound (so they said on the web). It is as so a good DAC both for recording and listening (PC or CD ---- recording ----> MD... or PC or CD ---- listening ----> Ampli). This is common thing that professional units allow digital copy, as my Sony MDS-B5 is supposed to do with another B5. To get around that, phamcu in Vietnam sell (who sell the MDX-D400) a modified Sony MDS-W1 deck witch allow COPY (not only transfer of tracks from one MD to one MD). You "think" you have a Hucht MK II Copyprocessor... because it has been built inside ? I don't know HOW phamcu suppressed the transfer-only of his W1s and I wonder if he could find something similar than the Behringer device between my JB980 and a MXD-D400, just because the W1 is SP only. Maybe the modified W1 allow the copy of MDLP tracks (even if it cannot read them).
  14. a review in russian, use Google translator http://www.ddmitry.ru/other_sony_celebrity7000_page01.htm This is quite easy to find in Vietmam (around $210).
  15. Ok Sergio, but that price does not impress me that much because I bought my Sony MDS-JB980 for 65€ plus shipping. I would rather wait for some functional, technical or audio qualities.
  16. phamcu has one to sell for 3T2 = $151 Please feel free to give me good reasons to jump on it !
  17. I never listened to that DAB, even if it has been tested in France.
  18. From my experience with "100 decks" Pierre, when you send a deck, a good idea is to fill the unit with cotton balls, old sockets, polystyrene chips, etc. To avoid something to break inside the unit, then that thing will do the same than a pinball ball with the risk to crash something else..
  19. That look like a very sticky work, not for precious MD blanks ! Still not understand HOW to open a MD blank.
  20. Your MD repair master live in UK... Jim Hoggarth ! http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/jim.hoggarth/
  21. I think the same, record in real time using the analog RCA connectors. My Sony MDs-JB980 has a "1 bit Dela-Sigma converter (24 bit)", see that colorful page here : http://www.avland.co.uk/sony/mdsjb980/ . The recording is done at 24bit-44,1kHz.(upsampling if the source is 16bit-44,1kHz).
  22. No need to apologized Sergio, that is ME who asked you to send everything in France (4 separates parcel with a lot of bubble craft inside, if I am not wrong). Just making a joke about that long waiting... I even wait to be in Vietnam to open every MD !
  23. Dazzleshipsrecords post here for the first time, so grimfredriksson be aware that you will contact him at your own risk Once you have your own 16 or 32 tracks 24bit-96kHz studio master, that will not SO difficult to make yourself 100 MDs huummm ?.
  24. I bought many MDs to an Italian fellow and I was so sorry not to be able to discover my new collection during these long months !
