Pham Cu has also a LAM-X1 (without loudspeakers) but he don't sell it. May be he could be of some advise or could have some idea to replace a spare part ?
-
So Jim say that the sellers have hacked an old Ipod boombox and printed some beautiful stickers, done with Photoshop so now they can ask for £425 Even if the work is quite well finish, it still look like a kind of cheating to me

Pham Cu (and many other vietnamese guys but not engineer in electronics & MD lover like him) sell similar Hi-MD bookshelves 3 times cheaper : http://www.5giay.vn/am-thanh-audio/3360572-ban-dau-md-desk-thu-phat-hoac-lam-da-va-cac-dich-vu-lien-quan-toi-minidisc.html And one member of my viet-khieu family from "Cali" is still here in Saigon... but I don't think he sell the bookshelf with all accessories, I need to ask him to get details.

USB > MD recording options in 2013? (any SP w/o DRM?)

DFX audio enhancer will be very useful in that case -
Interesting auction for me to know how much buyers are ready to pay from a faulty unit. This one is like my "marsupilami" RH1 at the time I needed a binder to make it work. Jim Hoggard has repaired it already. http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Sony-MZ-RH1-Mini-Disc-Player-/321114579249?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_MiniDisc_Players_Recorders&hash=item4ac3eba131#ht_506wt_1186

I use a JB980 deck as a DAC myself and yes the sound is already GOOD. But I did not got my answer yet.
-
Some decks have an optical out. So what - if you connect this optical output to a modern DAC (24bit/96kHz or more) and the DAC to the ampli - compare to the classical analog RCA outputs

TeaMD - cheap storage for your disks.
PhilippeC replied to cwall1108's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
My father drink earl grey for years and keep the tin boxes. Never think using them for MD storage. I will be back in France next summer so I will have opportunity to steal all the boxes I will find. -
interesting

And type-S enhance LP listening, and in that case, your old LP recording will be enhanced. But what about type-R vs type-S for LP recording ? Big question. Maybe somebody will make a test JA333ES "only type-R" deck vs a (my) JB980 type-S deck one day.

To catch the best quality if you are recording in real time from your PC, you need to get an ultimate audiophile 24bit/192kHz soundcard. For example from Creative Soundblaster, That is what ME I have... even if it is only 24bit/96kHz (X-Fi Platinium). Or, much better when you, sorry I will be rich, the M2TECH HIFACE interface (a jitter highly destructive unit) plus a real audiophile (and expensive) DAC (Rega or Naim...).
