There have been some problems with posting taking longer than usual in IE and appearing to freeze, hence some of the duplicate topics / PM's that have been occuring, - I'm not sure what the cause is at present - it could be something on the server or a bug in the software (either way there's not a lot I can do about it for now as I don't have full access to the back end). I've deleted the others now, but I'll echo Lamewings' comments Greenleaf as I agree that your remarks were out of order.

Bass On Top is a really good album. A great ensemble on there with some excellent bowed bass by Chambers and smooth guitar by Burrell. A lot of inactive users. A lot of people register purely for access to the downloads section then never return. A few lurkers as well I guess, and long list of banned spammers - it all adds up!

Th SQ does tend to vary on some issues more than others. There are some very good re-issues out of most of the early studio stuff (the RVG 24-bit remasters on the Presitge re-isssues or the 20 bit K2 mastering on the Japanese JVC Victor re-issues are usually excellent even on the mono recordings). I find with some of these Coltrane (and Jazz re-issues in general) that it's usually the live sets that suffer most from poor recordings.

I haven't seen this particular set - thanks for the offer, but I do have a lot of these tracks already on various other Coltrane collections apart from some of the later stuff which is not always my cup of tea. I would certainly check out some of the other Prestige era Coltrane if you like the selections on those discs.

That's quite a wide-ranging selection of Coltrane from different periods you've got there. I would definitely recommend the Tenor Conclave sessions with Hank Mobley (Disc 7 of your set) and Mating Call with Tadd Dameron from '56 (Disc 8 in your set).
