  1. Yes I used these up until recently when the left bud faded out after about 6 months use. Not sure if this is a common issue, but other than that I was very happy with them and am looking to get a second pair. The noise-cancelling is very efficient I have used them on planes and trains to great effect. Even with the NC off the sound is pretty good on these phones, similar to the EX71 but without the bloated bass. They are fairly comfortable but as with all canal phones you may have to play around with the different size silicon tips.
  2. If they are organized into albums via the tags, the best way is probably to change your view in Sonic Stage to Albums / Playlists from the drop-down on the left of the My Library area. Having done this select all the albums you wish to send to the device at once, by holding down ctrl if necessary and transfer. This will send all albums across with the tracks in the right order. Note to mods: move to Software Forum?
  3. MDFreak is finishing off his review in dutch right now and I am working on the translation into English. All being well we can try and get this done this by this weekend.
  4. At last it arrived - my new Vaio Skype Phone / Mouse. Managed to grab a quick shot with the DH10P.
  5. The service manuals usually feature exploded diagrams of the components and circuit diagrams. Have you tried downloading these from the downloads area?
  6. I think one of the problems with a lot of the BC-7DC2's on ebay coming out of China is it is not even clear what voltage input they accept. At least with the BC-7HT you know it has universal voltage input of 100-240V and comes with all the necessary plug adaptors.
  7. Thanks to both of you guys for your good advice. Indeed I think it makes sense to take things a step at a time and initially maybe try running the SA5000 from the EH1 / NH1 without an amp. Also all things being well in a week or two I should have a new bookshelf system which will probably be my primary source for these phones for home listening. Once that is sorted I will put in an order for the SA5000 and take it from there.
  8. I guess our priorities are different, but I'm generally more concerned about sound quality over jog dials. I think as others have said the RM-MC40ELK will actually work as intended on this but we will just have to wait and see. Small displays are generally not an issue - it is actually what the unit is capable of displaying on them that matters. But again if you are bothered by this it can be easily remedied with an lcd remote.
  9. That is why the RH1 has an improved HD Amp so it will also sound great on the playback front. It also has improved MP3 playback, so it looks like it beats the RH10 hands down there as well.

  11. No in the end I couldn't find anything in London, so am now thinking of importing via etronics.com. Based on your comments in the other thread I think I will go the extra distance for the SA5000. Bass response you said seemed slightly better and above all the build quality seems to be in another league. Only problem is now you got me thinking I will have to invest in a headphone amp as well
  12. lol, not sure for the UK but I'm sure you can look for the website of HM Customs & Excise.
  13. I have used EMS into Europe (Netherlands & UK) lots of time and delivery for me has been between 2-5 days max. I have used it for several MD units - one of these into the UK and have never had any issues with customs but these have been one unit at a time. It really depends what the sender declares on the customs slip in terms of value. If they declare the correct value you may be subject to VAT and / or duty. If they declare a low value you may get through customs without any issues, but then if something goes astray you will only be able to reclaim from the Royal Mail the value they declared on the package. But overall I think you have nothing to worry about the EMS service in itself is mega efficient.

  17. Where did you buy your unit from? You could try changing the destination code in the firmware via the service mode so that it is set to the Hong Kong / Tourist area. Although I'm not sure if the lcd displays on those units can actually display Kanji type characters. The one on my NH900 for example only displays katakana. I thought only the RH10 and DH10P could do this on the units themselves. If you have a kanji-capable remote like the RM-MC35ELK or RM-MC40ELK you will have no issue viewing the track titles you transferred in Chinese and you won't even need to change the firmware settings (I think).
  18. Funnily enough I was watching Kate Winslett on "Inside The Actors Studio" last night and she said it was her favourite swear word too.
  19. This is true but on the 1st Gen Onkyo models (the ones you have listed) this is not possible. Onkyo are bringing out some new models and with his permission I'll blatently quote from Bland10000's post So you may want to wait... On the other hand this means that the first wave of Onkyo bookshelves should have come down in price a bit vs. 1 year ago.
  20. All the Japanese Hi-MD units to date have had the option to switch the menus to english on the units themselves and you can easily run SS in english alongside this if you want so we don't expect this to be an issue on the RH1 either.
  21. Also the IPB2.1 just has the default Invision Power Board Logo, not the MDCF one in the top-left. Think Chris is aware of the problem as he said. "Refault" is working hunky-dory though in all browsers.
  22. If you are using the latest version of Sonic Stage (3.4), and your recordings are in HI-SP / HI-LP / PCM then you can upload as many times as you like.
  23. Well whilst it may not be a major consolation the technology thankfully moved on and improved with Hi-MD and now we can rip and transfer in 352K and PCM.
  24. Well I think we are all generally agreed that it reduces the chances of read-errors when ripping from CD. The online help doesn't say much, but this seems to be the general consensus.
