Hat Trick For MDCF? - Service Mode + 2nd Gen Hi-MD
Richard replied to Christopher's topic in Essential Hi-MD info/FAQ's.
[Off topic] DRM basically. I did do some testing and I seem to recall that with SS 3.4 for this may no longer be the case (as long as you don't encode the tracks with copy protection). Otherwise the simplest thing to do is connect the unit to the PC and edit in the Sonic Stage transfer window. -
Hat Trick For MDCF? - Service Mode + 2nd Gen Hi-MD
Richard replied to Christopher's topic in Essential Hi-MD info/FAQ's.
No there is nothing that needs to be done for the Japanese units. The titling should function normally, unless of course you were trying to amend titles from tracks recorded with Sonic Stage in which case you may run into the CANNOT EDIT message. -
Would be nice, but in the meantime you can do all of that with Sonic Stage
-
That's true - forgot about that!
-
I am fairly sure yes. But you can always try yourself.
-
Not entirely - only Hi-MD units will show as external hard drives and you can indeed copy and paste files for data archival purposes, but tracks to be listened to via the MD have to go through Sonic Stage or Simple Burner.
-
Well with SS 3.4 you can import tracks that were created with Simple Burner prior to the advent of SS 3.4 (I have tested this) and then burn an audio cd via Sonic Stage. However it will never be a true reversal as you are creating an audio cd from compressed tracks. The audio info that was lost when you converted to Atrac originally via Simple Burner can't be recovered.

Raja I'm sure Mikami will confirm, but basically the answer to question one is Yes. And the answer to question 2 is that I'm pretty sure it will require the PersonalAudio Driver to be installed same as any other MD player to be able to write MD's, but to function as a purely USB external data drive it doesn't (at least under Win2K / XP as it will use the generic USB Mass Storage driver.)

No, but on the other hand if it was really necessary they would have said so. Common sense is all it comes down to - I don't know anyone who defrags their USB pen drives...

Sony MZ-E900 | MDLP Walkman (2000) Again another unit that has been covered by Ishii in the pictorial section but one that is perhaps worth another look. This is for me, despite it's age one of the best looking MD Walkman's ever. It is certainly the smallest. I just love the embossed Walkman logo on the front and the kind of retro cool of the black back cover. The microscopic player is barely bigger than an MD blank and weighs just 58 grams (or 83 with the battery). I apologize in advance for the poor quality of some of these shots as the lighting in my apartment was pretty poor when I took them. Anyway I hope you enjoy... Entering Service Mode On A Hi-MD Player
Richard replied to Christopher's topic in Essential Hi-MD info/FAQ's.
^ Yes the NH1 and NH900 have a Line-Out mode which is in the standard menu options. Not a true line-out but equivalent to switching off the eq and maxing the volume. It is up to the user to change the mode to line-out before connecting to a stereo. However the unit if it detects a remote-control plugged in will automatically revert to Headphone mode. In fact Line-Out mode cannot be enabled if a remote is connected to the unit. -
As Kurisu says I would maybe be inclined to go for the NH700 which is currently $149.99 at Minidisco.com http://www.minidisco.com/portables.html

Yes, even as a standalone piece of music it is quite something, but especially in the context of the film it's emotional impact is heightened even further.
-
Great choice - an excellent film with a moving soundtrack.
-
I would suggest trying some betterm (or at least different) headphones, and also perhaps checking in at the AtracLife forum as they cover PSP and non-MD queries in much more detail than MDCF.

If I remember correctly (although maybe Ishii or another Vaio pocket user can put me right) I thought I read that the Vaio pocket could only display Chinese characters that also exist as Japanese Kanji. I don't think there was a specific firmware for the Chinese language.

Wow! 50 eurocents each? Where was that? I just ordered another 5 from Minidisc AU, even when you factor in the shipping still works out cheaper than buying locally here in NL.
-
Are we talking Atrac here or MP3? What bitrates? Have you tried re-encoding an album (at the same bitrate) with 3.4 that you have a copy of that has been encoded with 3.3 or earlier and compared the two?
-
It ships with the multi-line RM-MC40ELK so it's no real problem (for me at least).

Sony MZ-EH1 | HI-MD Walkman (2004) I know there have been a few pictorials of this model already, but personally I can't get enough of this gorgeous Hi-MD player and I get the impression it's always a popular model amongst the members here, so here are some shots of one of my black MZ-EH1's. I've had no issue playing 44.1Khz 32Kbps MP3 (MPEG1) podcasts on the DH10P directly in the past. I can't recall off-hand if they were stereo or mono though.

Sonicstage 3.4 Debuts With Stunning New Functionality
Richard replied to Christopher's topic in News
The file is called "complete.wav" and is in C:\Program Files\Sony\SonicStage\Data\Image\se Unfortunately as far as I'm aware it cannot be disabled by the UI. -
Maybe it's just on XP Pro then, but here are a couple of shots of the service in question, this one uses the credentials specified in the "Windows Configuration" option in the SB CDDB Menu. You're right in that the other service is simply called MD Simple Burner Service and controls the autostart of the system tray utility. [attachmentid=1408] [attachmentid=1409]
