Just to say this is a great piece of news - Marck actually asked me to go with him to Sony NL tomorrow but I can't as I'm stuck in London.. but hopefully he can glean plenty of info from the guys at Sony and maybe get a unit for a few days to review.

No I don't think you've anything to be worried about I travel regularly with both units and discs in my hand luggage and have never had any issues.

Just wondering if any of the UK members know where I can pick up a pair of MDR-SA3000 / 5000 phones in London - I am over in the capital next week if anyone has any ideas of where I may be able to find a pair of either of these? Tottenham Court Rd perhaps?
-
For personal email I also use Thunderbird.

I imagine it is only for authorized Sony service engineers, but you can also enter service mode on these models via the unit itself. Needless to say if you do, be very careful about changing any settings as you could damage your unit. See here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=7434

I agree with Volta Hi-LP was proabably too low a bitrate to start with. I have a digital cable TV receiver through which I can also receive various radio stations. This has an optical out and I did some tests recording direct to my NH1's optical in in LP2 and I was suprised at how good this actually sounded when played back. The good thing about some of these stations is also that they are 24hrs music with no talking in between.

How long does SonicStage take to load of your computer?
Richard replied to mercury_in_flames's topic in Software
Nice, - I upgraded the memory in my laptop from 1GB to 2GB last week, but it doesn't really make a difference to startup times for SS, (not that it was particularly slow anyway). I bought a test box for some stuff I'm doing at work with a 2.8ghz dual-core processor and 3GB Ram - I'll have to give it a whirl on there -
Uploading tracks that were recodrded with Simple Burner
Richard replied to bertnurney's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
I'm not so sure about that as I pretty certain that when I was initially testing SS3.4 a while back I uploaded a disc made with Simple Burner 2.0. -
Yes it's the Japanese FM range.

Not sure how many USB cables the US model comes with - but no lcd remote. The download button is for downloading songs from Simple Burner with one touch.

I must pick this one up. I used to follow Deep Dish quite a lot in their early days but haven't really kept up to speed with them. There are also separate single cd mixes in the series I think from both Dubfire and Sharam (the 2 members of DD) together with the Toronto double pack.

Pentium M 2.0 Ghz, 1GB ram and a relatively small library of say 150 tracks. -

Erm.. 8-9 seconds first time, 2-3 on subsequent retries. -
Not sure about Ishii, but I would recommend both of the Sasha sets (San Francisco & Ibiza) and I also have the Tenaglia Athens set which is not bad either.

Thanks and top marks to Tommy (aka Bland10000) for switfly dispatching a 5 pack of TDK LE Flower discs. Cheers, Richard

Ok good news is the RM-MC35ELK remote from your JP RH10 is compatible with all Hi-MD units, MZ-M100 included. Also the MZ-M100 should also come with the pouch. The cradle on the other hand I am not sure about as I thought I recalled some owners of US model RH10's saying the US version did not have the appropiate connectors on the bottom the unit for connecting to the cradle. This may also be true of the MZ-M100 especially as this model is only sold in the US and not in Japan.

Wow, awesome pictures as usual Ishii, very nice pictorial indeed.

Thank you very much Ishii and Greg for the kind wishes. Those cakes look great! - Not sure about the broccoli though. I'm currently in Rome for a few days and will probably go out and celebrate tonight with some friends and family.

It may be that it just needs a couple of miniutes to read the status of the battery - same as on the remote when it says "Measuring". Note that a full charge for the NH1 is around 3 hrs. The light goes off after the first hour (when it reaches about 80% capacity), I usually then leave mine for another 2 or 2 1/2.

Don't really see too many here in Holland. Last time I was in the UK a few weeks back I saw a girl on the underground in London with what looked like a blue NF-610 / N-510 and then another guy on a bus with an NH600.
