  1. Is this in the My Library panel or in the Transfer window? If it is the latter then it refers to free space on the media in the destination device.
  2. Current models are Japan Domestic, Japan Tourist Model (differs from domestic with more languages enabled, no lcd remote and only available in Silver), Euro, US, Asia (China)
  3. At the moment no - you have to use import file or Scan Folder. Ironically I think Connect Player can periodiocally check for files added to folders and import automatically, but this is not backwards compatible with MD units. (Yet!)
  4. I tend to agree that people just love to bash SS without really putting any time in. I've have used it from 2.1 thorugh 3.3 and never had any issues. A lot of questions can be answered by going through the online help, or just going through the options screen. It has evolved into a pretty mature piece of software.

    Wav to HIMD

With the transfer window open click on the toolbox icon under the right arrow. You will see them in here. As I said "As Is" is by default which means no conversion - but you can also specify "always convert to a given bitrate", or leave as "as-is" then if the track isn't playable by the destination unit "ask me" or again "always convert to xxx".

    Wav to HIMD

If multiple bitrate versions of a file exist and more than one of those is playable by your unit (in this case WAV/PCM and 256K) SS will always transfer by default in "as-is" mode and this means the higher bitrate file gets sent across. To force it to transfer one file you have to delete the other. What you could do is import the WAV into SS then change the transfer settings to always convert to 256. This way you don't manually convert the WAV it gets done so as part of the transfer, but if you are going to transfer other bitrate files then don't forget to change the settings back.
  7. The RM-MC35ELK is the Kanji version of the RM-MC38EL not the older 33.
  8. Please see my last message to avoide any further mishaps I would send the unit in for service as opposed to trying to fix it yourself.
  9. The most recent one from Sony is the MZ-NHF800 http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-NHF800.html But if you look in the equipment browser there are plenty others
  10. Because the "side car" charges the internal?
  11. The HD Amp is only a factor in playback not recording.
  12. Unfotunately it looks like you changed some settings you shoudn't have and the best course of action is probably to send the unit in for service.
  13. Just bought some remastered Yello albums: Solid Pleasure Claro Que Si You Gotta Say Yes to Another Excess Stella Flag Crazy ahead of their time electro-pop from Switzerland
  14. Not yet. Only Onkyo to date.
  15. But I think if he has an mz-nf610 he will have to convert to Atrac anyway. SS has no issue playing back MPEG2 audio, it's just the on a hardware level in the 2nd gen units that MPEG1 is a must. Like I say though with the unit mentioned he will have to convert to LP2 or LP4 (66 / 105)
  16. If you are 100% certain your password doesn't contain any symbols (just for arguments sake change it to an all text based word - you can always change it back) then I would suggest sending a PM to Kurisu the admin.
  17. The current range of Hi-MD players do not support all of the Atrac3+ bitrates, but there are other Sony HDD Players and flash players + PSP that do that also use Sonic Stage. That is why they are in there.

    "wife Swap" UK

I was intrigued by the title of this thread, but I seem to have missed something - what are you referring to?
  19. Sure I of course have my own av software and spam blocker but another level on the server helps cut down on some of the junk that reaches me. There are all-in -one packages over here from cable companies, but the speed is not really as good as ADSL. I do a lot of up / and downloading for work transferring large files and databases so the speed is very welcome - but of course it's great to have it for my own use as well.
  20. That's expensive - as is the UK I think - my 8MB down 1MB up costs around 75 euro a month of which 42 is not paid by me. It is always on with no download limitations, 50MB homepage space, 4 mailboxes with 5 addresses each, free firewall, server side virus scanner and spam filter. This will be upgraded free of charge to 12MB download later this year.
  21. I have ADSL 8MB down and 1MB up. I pay 50% and my 50% is reimbursed by my company as I work from home a lot.
  22. The only major difference between the 33 and the 35 is that the 35ELK can display Japanese Kanji characters.
  23. I have a Maxtor One Touch 250Gb (AC Powered) and it does the job really well. Maxtor are generally very well thought of, I think their One Touch range is now in the 2nd or 3rd gen.
  24. I would just like to recommend Marck's review to everybody. I think he has done a great job (I only helped out on the translation) and this is quite possibly the definitive review to date on this unit. Marck has gone far deeper with this unit than anyone else - especially on the camera side and has really done the unit justice. Whilst you are there also take some time to have a look at the MDcenter NL site as there is some good info over there.
